There's grass and pretty flowers and an interesting water feature that I wish I saw a sign to describe/explain it. The middle section is more pretty flowers and some grass, with more sculptures (and people LARP-ing if you're interested in watching them.) The southern most section is less of a park and more of a large in ground fountain/water feature with seating and places to eat. Our hotel was a minute walk away, so we walked through Canal Park a lot and we really enjoyed the simple respite from city life.

Kids may still have fun, but this is a subpar destination due to its lack of maintenance and all the noise from the expressway looming over it and directly adjacent. The adaptive swing has cracked plastic and doesn't lock, a merry-go-round thing barely moves, the slides are incredibly slow, etc. Tip: Eastern Market Metro Park near 8th and Penn SE is a better bet if you care about playgrounds. This place is OK for a picnic under the mature trees, if you don't mind the din of highway traffic. It also has an embankment on the western edge that is suitable for wintertime sledding. On the plus side, when my four-year-old and I were there this month, she spotted a rat trapped in the bottom of the metal trash can by the playground. So, although we would never feed pests, we showed mercy on the distressed beast. We got a good amount of memorable and free enjoyment by rescuing it from dehydration and heat exhaustion using an empty chip bag to lift it to freedom, then watching it scurry into concrete blocks under the highway. Be sure to check out the playgrounds even if you don't have any kids. They have one for adults too. Getting here from Capitol Hill doesn't take long. It still seems like it's quite a ways away though. This also is close to the Navy Yard. One bad thing is that it can be noisy because of the traffic on the freeway. There's a concrete wall separating the park from Interstate 395, which is where the noise comes from especially when it's rush hour, so if you want a quiet and relaxing visit avoid coming here at those times. Other than that it's one of the best parks around. The playground is cool for kids. If you're an adult you also have your own place to play next to it. They have adult sized playground equipment so you don't have to worry about being too heavy to play on these. It overall is one of the best parks in DC. Other than the freeway noise there's a lot of other things to like about it. This is a nice way of getting from Capitol Hill to the Navy Yard.

On a hot day, walking in and out of the shadows of the trees was a welcomed treat as the hot breeze flowed by. The way the trail is set up is quite nice, wide, and enjoyable. I'm not sure where this trail actually starts and ends, but I feel like that segment that I walked would equate to an overall enjoyable trek to explore. I mean it doesn't hurt that it is near the water, and goes through some area where you can see a lot of things. It can come off as an open air museum as well with all the historic marks around it and memorials along the way. It's a good place to take your mind off things and let yourself disassociate.

Ah, respite and green living things recharged this old inner battery of mine. I could have easily taken a nap on one of the benches. What a fantastic experience that would be. Which I did, and 15 minutes later we were at Jonas Green, and there were lots of spots available. Jonas Green is a small park, with a small and very calm beach -- perfect for our toddler. Like most of the waterfront around Annapolis, it has beautiful views, plus restrooms, grills and picnic tables, and a nice variety of people: couples, families, kids. Very family friendly and quiet. We loved it, and will definitely go back.

This park is a little off of the beaten path so it is not as packed as other comparable ones. You still are able to run/bike along the water along the waterside and it is probably preferred because there is less traffic. It has a huge outdoor tennis complex with two sets of Har-Tru clay tennis courts containing about 5 courts per set. There are 4 indoor courts available as well, both of which are open to the public on a first come first served basis, but must reserved and costs a fee. One set is better maintained than the other. Either way, the courts get packed. There was not an available court while I was there. The park also touts a golf course, which I hear is half decent. It has 2 9-hole courses (Red and White) and 1 18-hole (Blue). There is also a heated olympic sized public pool at its aquatic center, that is next to the golf course. The aquatic center is currently closed until further notice due to renovations and COVID. This is a decent park that has some heavy duty activities that you cannot find at most parks, including swimming, tennis and golf. If any of those appeal to you then this is your spot.

The entire loop is about 4 miles I believe. There's always plenty of parking and I typically will go by the wharf side to park near the sidewalk instead of one of the lots closer to the Jefferson memorial. During the spring time you can see the cherry blossoms blooming here. When you get past the golf course the trail doesn't allow for cars so that you can freely walk or bike on the road. Highly recommend checking Hains Point/East Potomac Park out if you need a day to frolic for free.99 lol
