Even with Griffin wellstars reputation, they handled my case with ease and correctly. That says a lot about how easy this should have been. I have acute intermittent porphyria and have suffered with this disorder since I was 3 years old with constant er trips, hospitalizations, surgeries, tube feeding at home and home healthcare for sometimes 8 months straight. It's rare and my medical team consists of 6 specialists, 4 of which are at the Mayo Clinic. I've called them all many times in episodes and every one has always said get to the ER as soon as possible. That is what I am supposed to do. The er is SUPPOSED to help me before it progresses to life threatening. Which will happen if untreated. Short version: Dr HIGGANS; before even seeing me, made a choice about me and my case (that he has no knowledge, experience, or training on) and made his entrance after an hour of waiting in my room by saying I was not supposed to be there and should be handling it at home. (mind you people DIE at home from this disorder by not getting to the ER when they start an episode) Long version: I made the front nurse aware of the disorder and showed DOCUMENTATION and made the aware doctor when he came in. From his terminology I could tell there was an extreme lack of knowledge on his part about the disorder. I made him aware there is a document on the porphyria foundation website specifically created by a specialist for ER doctors to review care protocols as it is a rare disorder and some, like him, do not have the experience to make proper assessments. He ignored everything I said and only pre-scripted a medication I cannot even take DUE TO porphyria. He said he would come back and speak to me after research (that he never did and I know he didn't because it's impossible to read the form as fast as he placed his orders) and of course refused to speak to me when I made to nurse aware I was not allowed to have what he ordered. She said he refused to even give a vitamin bag which is standard since I haven't eaten or even drank water in days. It's even standard for a HANGOVER. How exactly would providing the vitamins be a problem? That shows me he did not care in the slightest for my well-being and would rather have someone else take responsibility as my only option was to leave and go to a different hospital. On my way out I asked to speak to the charge nurse and explained what would happen if I went home and died after seeking help for this disorder. He said he agreed and understands but cannot do anything as the doctor assigned to me had all power over my body and no one else on property had any ability to intervene. Which means a patient like me who goes in and assigned Dr.Higgins has a HIGH CHANCE of being refused medication that is required for the episode and heavily documented and could cause that person THEIR LIFE. And he would be responsible. So I say again, DO NOT LET HIM OVERSEE YOUR CARE OR A LOVED ON WHO HAS A RARE DISEASE OR DISORDER. He would rather let you die if need be then read a form readily available to him and made specifically to guide him through care since he clearly didn't have a clue. Hopefully I receive a call back about this issue as requested to REQUIRE HE HAVE FURTHER EDUCATION AS TO NOT JEOPARDIZE THE LIFE OF CRITICAL PATIENTS. He did everything on the form they tell ER physicians NOT TO DO. HE IS DANGEROUS. And he knows he was wrong or he would have nothing to lose by researching the disorder he was SUPPOSED TO BE TREATING. My family and myself are livid and will be seeking further action if necessary to ensure he does not cause more harm to anyone else.

Was in and out within an hour with a script for pain meds and antibiotic. I appreciate the fast service when I wasn't feeling well. I would still be waiting if I went to an ATL hospital. The staff is very kind and helpful, and the prices are reasonable and much cheaper than some of the other walk-in clinics in the area. Even without insurance, I've found it affordable and less expensive than private physicians charging $200 per visit. Though busy on occasion, the doctor never rushes through your visit and is thorough in her examination. The waiting area, exam rooms, and bathroom are always clean too.

I can always get in there when I cannot get an appointment with my primary physician. They've all always been helpful friendly. And absolutely awesome when it come to writing me prescriptions to knock out whatever my issue was. I could not say a case of pneumonia that end of the year 2019 And I could not get another appointments with my primary for another week. They made sure I had an abada its cough medicine That actually worked and something to knock out what was Rattling in my lungs. This was after a visit to my primary a visit to the ER nothing they did worked The doctors here managed to give me what it took to sake the mess! Of course I've been there for other things mainly just being sick but it seems I went there with an injured back. And beginning I was skeptical because it was a no appointment walk in clinic and they seriously changed my mind I'm glad I took a chance on them. In order to get to the "why" of my review, I feel I need to provide some context…read more On Sunday, December 22, 2019, my family (my husband, three children, and our dog) and I were traveling for Christmas from our home in Kentucky to Florida. While driving through Georgia my husband, who was driving, suddenly became ill and passed out at the wheel on I-75. When this happened we were in the middle of I-75. It was a traumatic event for everyone! While we were very blessed to, somehow, not get hit by any other cars, it was a very scary situation for me and my children. After we were able to get the car to the side of the road, I called 911 and had to wait 45 minutes alongside I-75. It took another 15+ minutes to get to Spalding Regional Hospital. I was absolutely frazzled. I was trying to calm and reassure my children, to plan for whatever the hospital might find going on with my husband, and to figure out how I was going to spend time at an emergency room with 3 kids and a dog. I decided to leave my 2 oldest boys (12 and 15) outside of the emergency room with our dog while my youngest and I went in with my husband. I quickly let the nurses in the ER know that my 2 children were out front with our dog. They said it was fine. Before my husband was even in a room a security guard came back to the nurse's station to say that there were children unsupervised with a dog. I overheard the nurses explain the situation to him. About 10 minutes later he was back and approached me and told me my children could not be unsupervised. My head was absolutely spinning; I was so overwhelmed. In many states it is illegal for a dog to be left in the car, but the security guard said that was what I needed to do. I went ahead and put the dog in the car, though I was very concerned about how my dog would react to this and was equally concerned a dog advocate would break my window to get the dog out. The nurses who overheard my interaction with the guard were almost as upset as I was by the way they were speaking to me. They told me to do what I needed to do for the dog and it would be fine. After 15 minutes or so later I sent my oldest (15) to check on the dog and make sure she wasn't barking or tearing anything in the car apart. Being that we were traveling for Christmas we had snacks and presents in the car. I was worried she might get into those, feeling that she was trapped. He was escorted back to me by a security guard, as if he had done something terribly wrong. I was told he could not travel alone anywhere in the hospital. By this time I had heard enough. I was frazzled, in a town and state far from home, in a traumatic situation, with 3 kids and a dog! I could not possibly do it all myself. I needed my son to be able to help me. I will admit, I was at the end of my rope and lost my temper. The guard walked away and returned with another guard (Vaughn) who proceeded to get right up in my face and tell me how no minors could be unattended in the hospital. I had to tell him to step back because he was right in my face. He was very rude and condescending to me. He lacked any and all empathy for the situation. Ultimately, after many exchanged words and my nerves being completely shot, he left. A nurse who had heard came by and offered to escort my son anywhere he needed to go in order to help me and check on the dog. THE MEDICAL STAFF WAS AMAZING! Overall, though, it was by far one of the worst experiences I have had. I was absolutely appalled by the treatment I received from Allied Security. In my profession I have had to undergo many hours of training on trauma-informed care. It seems that any security personnel (or any staff) should be required to go through such training. We were all suffering from the trauma of our experience. We needed support, understanding, and help. All we received from the security personnel was added stress and trauma. This is disgraceful. No family should have to go through this. I hope this review of our experience will help to inform future trainings and expectations of care from ALL those who work in the hospital.

I went to the emergency room at Coliseum MC and was admitted that night and the surgery done a day later. There is no way anyone can say that being hospitalised and having surgery was an enjoyable experience. At least not in my opinion. But the doctors and staff at Coliseum medical centre made this at the very least a very comfortable stay and I felt very safe as far as the virus was concerned. I was on the 5th floor. The nurses, the phlebotomists and the entire staff on the 5th floor are nothing short outstanding. The hospitalists and the entire medical entourage were very professional, competent, and attentive with regular visits, inquiries and updates before and after surgery. The surgery was performed with robotic assist by Dr. John Thomas Williams. I am looking forward to my final visit with him so I can personally thank him for his excellence. I am 73 years old and I've had 3 other laparoscopic surgeries without the benefit of the robotic assist. This stuff is nothing short of amazing in regards to the amount of pain after surgery. From a medical viewpoint we are living in the "good old days". Being hospitalized and having surgery could never be called fun. But, the attention rendered by Coliseum Medical Center, to my comfort, concerns, and condition were all attended to with excellence.
