I am VERY upset with this bowling alley because last night on 8/25/2022, 3 trucks (as we know of) were broken into and when asked to see the cameras to this place "they don't work" which I call bull. I wouldn't take anybody here knowing that it is unsafe area and that this place doesn't even have cameras that "work". How are you going to be a bowling alley and say you care about the people but have no cameras "working"? Might I add, they KNEW more break ins happened a couple months ago and knowing that information they still don't have cameras that "work". The employees are rude. It's good to bowl in the leagues. However, bowling with family & friends on the weekend, the lane conditions are terrible. Whatever mechanic is on duty must not be around because it took a while before anyone came to fix our lane. The food was terrible... I guess the cooks was inexperienced. It's ok during the week. I went to Southgate with a 6 coworkers for a night out. We had a great time and had great service from the bowling staff and food staff. Our group marveled about how nice and smooth the Southgate balls are! Not too greasy either. When you're trying to hit the pins, you always want smooth balls! The food was good and the staff was very attentive. We had pizza and a variety of appetizers. Try to Jalapeño Poppers. Tip: if you want maximize your bowling potential, you need to find your personal beer enhancement zone. For example: with me, 2 beers relaxes me enough to roll right. 4 beers and I'm a sloppy mess. Awful. Don't waste your money here. I just had a terrible experience by very rude childish employees at the bar - Melissa and Danielle. The "manager" Joey didn't seem the care about the disrespectful behavior of the girls when I complained and had a very careless attitude while working and dealing with customers. Clearly this bowling ally hires the people no one else would employ in Florence. In addition to the awful customer service the bowling ally is dated and the lanes are always malfunctioning which I would overlook if the customer service was okay. Would never go here. It's one of those places where you really get what you pay for. read more

I would give this place a zero star if possible. The lane we were first put on messed up, so we then got switched to the lane beside us. That lane ended up malfunctioning, not allowing the bowling balls to come back. We then received very very bad and rude customer service. A guy I'm guessing that worked in the back came over too us and cussed us out for continuing to bowl as if it was our fault that the bowling balls were not coming back too us. He then threatened to shut down our lane even though we still had a half a game left and then a full one after that. Not What I'm Used To, The Bowling Balls Are Old And chipped Up, The Lanes Are Not Being Kept Up You Try To walk Up and throw the ball you almost fall every time it's no sliding on the lanes no oil. The Little restaurant they have there, omg it's trash. Order chicken tenders for the kids, who sells fake chicken tenders? Really you guys can do better with the food, even the fries are trash leave seasoning of the fries not tasty at all. The kids didn't even eat the food. Then they have a big ass sign in the restaurant saying treat others how you want to be treated and one of the workers a bald head man is rude as hell, telling the customers in line to hurry and order because he's about to turn off the fryer. What type of customer service is that, he's lucky I had my kids with me. I was about to let baldy have it with his rude ass. Didn't want to buy any food from there because of his attitude, he's lucky my kids wanted to eat cause I was like we can go get something to eat when we leave, but you know kids they love to eat so I bought only because of them, I work to hard for my money to be talked to in such a manner. They need to train him on how to interact with customers because he's going to get into a lot of disputes with customers if he keeps handling them they way he does. Straight trash!!! We went there expecting to have a good time and our fist lane was messed up. Asked for another lane, that too was messed up. Then asked for help a 4th time and we're sitting duck's! Went to ask for a refund and the cashier said we could not get a refund for our entire game which was messed up since we sat down!! So we wasted our money and a wasted night at Southgate Bowling Alley. It was nasty on the inside, smelt bad from the start. But even when trying to help a local business its never good service. I have been bowling at south gate off and on for years. I have seen it be good from a customer perspective and I have seen bad. I have to say the current owner is the worst by far. If you are just wanting to bowl, the lanes are decent and bowling staff are friendly. That's where the good review ends. The snack bar took 90 minutes to come up with an order of nachos. When I asked about them, the response was they will be up in a while. I asked if there was any idea how long and the guy behind the counter got a serious attitude. Bear in mind that I selected nachos because three people with me had already cancelled their orders because of how slow and rude the service was. I never expected 90 minutes to put store bought liquid cheese product on chips. I was informed in a very rude way there were a lot of orders and if they didn't call me then my food wasn't ready and that I should just go back to bowling until they called me. When I went to pay the bill from the evening (I had been running an open tab including bar tab for a group). I pointed out to the owner that with some friendlier and faster service, my group would have spent a lot more money. The owner explained we should have ordered pizzas instead of the tab and he had been standing there when the guy behind the counter raised his voice at me. The owner agreed he shouldn't have spoke that way to a customer, but it wasn't really that big an issue. The story would end there except the owner then proceeded to go talk to snack bar employees about me while my child was still in there. He wasn't discussing how the employee should have handled, he was literally talking smack about me. We were having a party there, set up by my grandma over the phone. As evidence they were aware of this before we paid, they treated our games just like a party giving us a time limit of 2 hours cutting off our game half way through it. They then charged us non-party prices and acted like nothing was wrong. The manager was not helpful. We will not be returning. read more
