Update: they stayed open late to take care of my tooth. Good call. AND yes, the dentist was fab! Dr Schmidt. But I feel like they didn't send me away because I was making a fuss not because it was a tooth emergency. Unbelievable is right. This is the "Emergency Room" for dentists. Unless it's an emergency, please do yourself a favor and go to a real dentist office. This place gets you in same-day, they keep you waiting for the dentist then when it's time to close, they will push the non-emergency patients to the next day at a whole different office. Huh? I've been here for 1.5 hrs already, two other patients took up all the time so my abcess was LEAST important so I got pushed to another day. I am literally dumbfounded. I will admit I haven't been to the dentist in years and there is a reason for it. I'm just petrified. Everytime I have gone to dentists in the past it has been an unpleasant experience. After being referred not only by a fellow employee, friend and my oldest daughter I gave it a shot. I made my appointment! From the first call I had with Christina to meeting Dr. Winkleman and the rest of the staff in the last 2 appointments everything has gone great! I love the fact that the Dr. listens and provides excellent feedback when it comes to everything. They have made going to my appointments smooth and easy going. The owner is very unprofessional I made a complaint about flash advertising, and instead of apologizing he responded in a very unprofessional manner. I had a tooth canal done a few weeks ago and while doing it the dentist cause a filling to fall out then wanted to charge me to put it in. After I explained my experience with my last dentist you would think they would want me to have a good experience. At the end of the day this place as cheaper as it may seems is all about the money and not the oral health. They advertise cleaning and x-ray at a certain fee but i did not get a fully mouth xray and i got no cleaning. Since they already did the roots canel I need a crown and they canceled the appointment because of a review I did. The professional thing to do was to make it better and I would have made a different review in a more positive nature. Maybe even if you had explained it was a bad filling, but what was said was that it would have fallen out anyways because fills don't last forever. read more

Best dental experience I've had in my life; I'm very uncomfortable when it comes to my teeth but Sergio and Dr.Schmidt made me feel comfortable enough day 1 to keep going back. All of the staff is very friendly and make you feel welcomed. So far I've had 0 issues with any of the work that has been done by Dr.Schmidt (of which I've had a lot of extensive work done over the course of the last 2 years). Every time I leave I always feel like the appointment went by very quickly. There isn't a long wait either; no sitting in the lobby for 10+ minutes or anything which is awesome. Went here for a cleaning. Since only the dentist does cleanings here (no hygienist) you have to wait for them. I made an appt and still waited over an hour and half before the dentist started. I was told there was an emergency and that's the reason for the hold up. That's an awful long emergency I felt I should have been told ahead of time so I could have rescheduled. I gave them another chance 8 months later and this time I had to wait 45 minutes for a cleaning. Again , with an appointment. I have since found another dentist with an actual hygienist that starts my appointment when I'm actually scheduled. read more

My name is Brian today I had a appt with southern dental on 35th Ave and southern in Phoenix,Arizona. This was NOT a pleasant experience at all. And rest assure I will follow up with the corporate office in this matter. I went in because I had chipped tooth in the front of my mouth, I went in to get it fixed but the doctor told me NO I NEED A ROOT CANEL. So I was a little caught off guard because I just had a full blown deep cleaning with X rays and all that at this establishment. They said I needed a root canal but in the back of my mouth not the front. And to me I found that quite strange so I asked him how much would a chip repair costs instead because the root canal was $1500+ and once I asked him that question his attitude and demeanor completely change it was like he was upset that I didn't want to do the root canal so then he proceeds to tell me it will be $22 due to my insurance so I said no problem. So we start the process and he's kind of short with me as I'm asking him questions. Then his assistant comes which is name is Sergio who is there throughout this whole process so as he's doing the procedure he keeps placing items on my Chest aggressively. So I'm like in my mind oh he's just working he's in the zone but he kept doing it. Then Sergio asked Somebody else that was in the office can you please bring me some dental floss so I can clean This gentlemans teeth. Then Dr. Morris says no we don't need to do that doesn't look like he does it anyways something along those lines, Mind you he said that sarcastically right As he's working on my teeth. At this point I was upset and I had them stop I pulled up my glasses looked at Dr. Morris and told him he's an asshole And that was uncalled for. Then he says oh you want a nice filling huh. So he finishes and I tell the assistant Sergio that it's tight between my teeth and that the resin is pressing on my teeth so he puts floss through my teeth and it goes through. So I was like w.e at this point. So I go to the front office and I'm in the middle of paying and I finish that up And Dr. Morris comes up behind me and he's talking to me" And I ask him do you find it professional when your assistant ask for floss and you say no and you wave your hand in front of your customer" And I asked him that in front of his assistant Jasmine so my words don't get it twisted around. And he did not answer the question not once his only response was I am a professional. Mind you this whole situation is on camera and I hope these cameras have audio because audio will back up everything that is written right now. It's truly upsetting to have a professional of his caliber acting that way. This chip has been repaired in the past before and I'm going to show you two different pictures from two different " Professionals" I had my chip repaired by Prime Family Dental on 51st Ave and baseline 3 years and now today and you can clearly see the difference in Workmanship and all around quality but for me the most important thing besides those two things that I just mention is customer service. And Dr. Morris displayed NONE of these. The assistant Sergio was no issue and the front desk lady jasmine was no issue either. This review is solely for Dr. Morris, and hopefully southern dental will read this and take in account what I wrote and do their due diligence and watching the cameras and audio and Actually do something about this this guy is a representation of your company and I can tell you right now it's not a good one. Now for the people who are reading this you be the judge and look at these pictures and you tell me if this is a professional job both of these pictures that you see are pictures taken right after getting my tooth fixed. Mind you after all this my nine-year-old son saw me and Dr. Morrison not having the best conversation ultimately that's why I'm pissed. Not good! One star is being generous. At check in we were told our co-pay was 70 dollars. When we didn't have it we were then asked "how much cash do you have?" Well today I did what most people hate to do....go see the dentist to have 3 old compromised fillings removed and replaced. The worse part about today's visit was when a John Denver song came on the radio and I had to endure that pain. Seriously that was the worse part of the visit! I went for a regular checkup and needed a filling. The staff was able to do the work the same day. Within a couple of months I was having trouble in the same area so I was able to go back in Christmas Eve. The dentist didn't even give the numbing cream time to settle before she gave me the shot. Normally I don't have any fear of the dentist but this was something new. Well needless to say after the appt my jaw was sore which was very unusual. Three days later I still can't open my jaw wide and the pain is still there. I make another spot because they need to fix this FOR FREE! Well Jan 2 I go back in. This time it takes over an hr to numb me... at least he waited right? Well six shots later.. nothing. My tooth is still sensitive and my jaw is still locked, not opening all the way. I'll post traumatized at this point. They rescheduled me for the following Thursday. I called Tuesday to cancel but the system was down and they said they'd back. They never did. So I call today to cancel bc I just don't want to deal with being traumatized again. Well the lady tells me there's a $45 fee on top of another $21 bill they sent me? Ummm for what? You didn't help me the first time. And note your charging me for something I called to cancel but Your systems are down? Not my problem. I went to this dentist bc it's on my neighborhood and it's convenient. I've been to 3 dentists since living here the last 12 years and I have never experienced this. DO NOT GO TO THIS DENTIST!!!! Efficient, good for kids, good service. I do not believe the dentist should look like a carnival for my 3 and 5 year old. This is a respectable office that looks like an office. They are good with kids without trying to trick them into thinking the dentist is supposed to be fun. Although I had to go to a pediatric dentist to have a cavity filled, I like this office for cleaning. Also, it is easy to make appointments without having to wait weeks and weeks. The dentist does the cleaning and actually participates in running in the office, so actually knows how things work. My super picky husband was happy with the cleaning. I went to Southern dental there's this old guy I think he's the owner he is so rude even two the assistance he literally hurt me like three or four times and I told him and he didn't care I literally pay for a crown less than a year ago and now my crown fell just to go visit the doctor I have to pay $65 that is some bullshit why because everywhere else you go you have insurance for a crown right I took good care of it Do you think they care no they only want their money and that's it I went to the dentist to do most of my treatment because I had insurance at the time I am because it was open till late other places close at five and I used to get out of work at 6 PM But if you think this is a good dentist you should think twice they don't care about you they just want the money and be careful to not ever to crowns there it's not the first time this thing fell but now they don't wanna do anything about it If I could get a zero stars I would read more
