Rescued! Our previously trusty 12-year-old refrigerator failed on an otherwise pleasant Monday morning a few weeks ago. Southeast Steel's team rescued us within 24 hours. After realizing that our old refrigerator had died, we searched Southeast Steel's site for adequate replacements and then called to inquire about availability of 3 options. Salesman John Maciejewski helped us decide our best final choice of the three, then told us that they had that model in stock, that it was on sale for a bit more then 1/3 off, and that they could deliver it next day. Early Tuesday morning Southeast Steel colleagues Alex and Carlos arrived with the new refrigerator. They carefully disconnected and removed the old one from its custom cabinetry home in our kitchen, picked it up and carried it out of our house (400+ pounds. strong guys!) So, no damage to wood floors or tiled front porch. Then they picked up the new one, carried it into our house, installed its power cord and water line, leveled it, aligned its double doors, rolled it into its new spot in our kitchen cabinetry, and gave us a few instructions for how to use it. Superb service! We are grateful to the Southeast Steel team for rescuing us. And the new refrigerator has been working splendidly for a couple weeks. Yay! read more

Our experience with Southeast Steel started well. They had the professional range and microwave we wanted and said it could be delivered and installed quickly by MD Appliance. MD Appliance removed our old microwave, and then dropped it on our composite wood floor, leaving the floor scratched. The "old' microwave came with the house, so it was only one year old. We planned on reusing it in another house, but MD Appliance broke it when they dropped it, making a $700, year-old microwave oven a total loss. MD Appliance cracked the subway tile backsplash when they installed the new microwave. To repair,we would need to remove the microwave and hire a tile expert, probably at substantial cost, to repair. We needed to hire an electrician to install the range properly. MD Appliance said our plug was "on the wrong side." The same plug seemed to work fine with our old range. MD Appliance did not so much as acknowledge any of the issues they caused, much less offer to resolve them. We called to advise Southeast Steel about the install nightmare with MD Appliance. Southeast Steel could not have cared less that the people they are sending to install are so careless and destructive. This reflects poorly on Southeast Steel. I guess the MD in MD Appliance stands for Mass Destruction. Stay far away from them! read more

I have been going to Southeast Steel for nearly 30 years for all my appliances. My dishwasher went out, so I went to the place I originally purchased the appliance. I was greeted immediately by Evans Harris who provided excellent customer service, explaining the various dishwasher lines based on what I said I was looking for in a dishwasher. I selected the Bosch model after Evans' input. As he was writing up the purchase, I asked if he could check my file to see when I purchased my last dishwasher from Southeast Steel. We were both amazed it was 19 years prior! (Dishwashers usually have an 8-10-year life span.) Evans than asked if I was available for delivery tomorrow and I was surprised as to the quick turnaround for delivery and installation. He recommended J & S Pro Install and Jose Calero as one of their best installers. It would result in an additional charge of $200 for delivery, installation (an electrical outlet needed to be added for the Borsh machine) and take away of my old appliance. It was $200 well spent, mainly due to the professionalism of Mr. Calero. Jose contacted me that evening after my purchase to say he had a 12-2pm opening available and I accepted the timeframe. Jose arrived precisely at noon. He did an outstanding job explaining the installation process and how my previous contractor did NOT re-install my old dishwasher properly and flush to the cabinetry. He also pointed out where the problem area was and explained how he was going to install the dishwasher so that it was not sticking out past the cabinets. Once completed, he explained how to use the dishwasher and did a test run. He also checked the drain process and tightened the U-pipe connections under the sink. He recommended I check the connections annually given the vibration of the garbage disposal tends to loosen the connections over time. Mr. Calero is a consummate installer and I highly recommend that when you purchase an appliance from Southeast Steel and need installation, you determine if he is available to complete the process. 5-star rating all around! We have purchased appliances from Southeast Steel for many years. They are very knowledgeable and provide excellent customer service. Their delivery trucks arrive when scheduled and every detail is met with satisfaction. Most recently my refrigerator's control panel started acting up. It was beeping and flashing codes like a smoke detector that needed a battery replaced. Before I could get a repairman out to my house to fix it the freezer completely shut down and defrosted everything. At that point the refrigerator was dead to me and it needed to go. Southeast used to be the go to if you didn't want to deal with big box, retail or online purchases for top end appliances. They used to have tremendous sales experience and customer service, but now they are really no different than the big box locations out there. Like several people have mentioned, SS used to be "the place" to purchase premium appliances in Central Florida. Their salespeople were knowledgeable and their service and install people were, too. We went to SS for appliances after we had shopped at the "big box stores" and although their prices weren't better at SS, they were "close enough" for what we thought would be excellent customer service compared to the big box stores. Greg was the guy I got on the phone and he was helpful, especially when it came to making that 10k+ sale. After that, things went downhill. We had ordered the appliances for a remodel and had asked SS to hold the appliances until we were ready for their install. Great, no problem. Until it was. We called a few weeks later and that is when we were told one of our appliances was back ordered for another month and a half. I think that is pretty important information that should have been shared as soon as they knew. Especially since we gave them an approximate date for when we would need the appliances. I could let that slide, given the supply chain mess left post-COVID. Once the appliance came in, another round of bad service started. Instead of Gregg, I got Evans. He didn't offer to get Gregg on the phone, so I figured it might be his day off or whatever, but as it played out Evans became our new "person" at SS. We scheduled the delivery of the appliance ASAP, which I will say was nice, since we had waited 3+ months for it. When it was delivered, there was still lots of renovations going on. The delivery guys took the appliance upstairs and installed it and left. We went to use the appliance, went on vacation a week later and then used the appliance when we got home. Christmas Day we were preparing for some more renovations and noticed newly done drywall had water stains. We traced it back to the appliance leaking. We stopped using the appliance, called SS the next business day and requested service to remedy the problem (brand new appliance leaking). I got Evans again and I sensed some attitude, but he contacted LG to have them send out a contracted service agent. The soonest they could come out was 1/6/24. Not great, but I get it-holidays.... When the service agent got to the house it was the last 5 minutes of the window we had been given. He looked at the appliance, stated he needed two service people to do the job and left without doing anything. I get it, not SS. More attitude from Evans when I explained that the service person came and went without fixing anything. Another call to LG for a service call. The new company was 2 weeks out on their service and it took every one of those 14 days to get out to look at the appliance. They were late, had recorded the incorrect service address and were even later when they finally arrived. But... when they got to the house they figured out that the appliance had been installed incorrectly by SS. They sent us the part that needed to be ordered to complete the install and were on their way. I forwarded to ticket and the needed part to Evans the next day, per his request (more attitude). Two days later we received a piece of the kit the repair guy said needed to be ordered (not the whole kit). We installed the piece, but there was still another piece (part of the kit) that was needed. Another call and more attitude and another e-mail with pictures of the part needed. Two days later a random part that was NOT needed arrived. This time an e-mail with more pictures of the missing piece and more attitude from Evans. I gave up (I'm sure that's what they were hoping for). I researched the part number, ordered it myself and had it overnighted. 5+ months later and the appliance will be properly installed. Ugh! It shouldn't be this hard! And I didn't save myself any grief or get any better service than the big box stores and I paid more for it all, too. I really hope my story is unique and all of the others going to SS for the same reasons we did, get what they went for. We didn't. read more

I almost skipped coming here because I didn't feel like driving an hour away for an appliance. But I was desperate to find a 2-drawer dishwasher for our kitchen renovation. It did take a couple of minutes for a salesperson to find me but, to be honest, they were busy with other customers. Once Gregory was able to help, I found exactly what I was looking for. After visiting the usual big box stores, and finding the ridiculously limited options they had sitting out for you to see, we went to Southeast Steel. Of course there are drawbacks.....lack of air conditioning being the main one, followed by lack of organization. They easily overcome this, though, with stellar customer service. We spent time there discussing the options we had, pricing differences, and learning how long any of them would take to special order. The timing of arrival was spot on, and the process to have them load it into our vehicle was simple. If you are in need of an appliance that isn't fully mainstream and want someone to walk you through it as opposed to just trying to order something off of a website, this is your place. read more

This appliance store is a bit difficult to get to, with their parking lot being barely able to contain the number of customers that you find here, but the trip will be worth your time. We were referred to Craig Menzies from a friend of ours and while the other staff there is probably just as good, I can vouch for him personally. If you haven't tried to locate appliances during the past few months, consider yourself lucky. The ongoing COVID crisis has significantly delayed the building and shipping of many of these things - particularly refrigerators. Prior to coming here, we had spent several hours at a major home improvement store in the area, ordering five separate pieces. Without being able to get all five items at once, we were resigned to wait until all came in order to get even one. Two months later, we were still waiting and gave Southeast Steel a shot to take our money. Craig was very knowledgeable about the appliance industry and could tell from the model numbers what we were looking at. He had almost everything in stock and could quickly make recommendations about other alternatives, without pressuring us to upgrade. We made our selections, after about an hour of time viewing and discussing the appliances and Craig finalized the sale. The store met or exceeded the major chain costs, had a much greater selection, delivers and installs them much more cheaply and hauls off the old appliances for free. In addition, there were some benefits related to the warranties, having them extended. I will tell you that this is now my first choice for anything appliance related. Things being the way that they are, there is still a wait for some of our appliances, but I'd much rather wait on a company like Southeast Steel, where I feel like a valued customer than a big box store where I'm a number. read more

It was getting to the end of it's life and I had done some preliminary checking at the big box stores but every "expert" I spoke to could only speak to the basics that you can read on the quick fact sheet stuck to the front of any appliance.... cool, we can all read? Not helpful. I decided that when I resumed looking, I'd check out some of the smaller appliance stores around town. I was out of town when my fridge finally bit the dust. First up on my list was Southeast Steel. I waked in with only my fridge dimensions and a few options about features and that's where Craig took over. He was AMAZING!! He was so thorough! He took his time, gave me lots of great information regarding brands, features and longevity while giving me the space to draw my own conclusions and never rushing the process. In addition, Craig offered to have a temporary refrigerator brought to my house while I awaited my new fridge delivery. WOW!! This is the kind of place you go when you want something above and beyond the "help" you would get at a place like Home Depot. So when we purchased all new kitchen appliances 8 or 9 years ago I called back later to complain about the ice in the icemaker bin always melting together. "Oh yeah, we get lots of complaints about that". Why the hell didn't you tell me before I shelled out all that cash? And the GE electric cooktop is awful. Turn a burner off and it's still too hot to touch over 30 minutes later. Our very very old gas stove at our second home is quite superior to this modern piece of crap. A previous owner of our home had made some purchases here, so we got a "______ Or Current Resident" invite to their recent private sale. We needed a new range so we went in. The sale was pretty crowded - maybe it's only a semi-private sale :) Their location is large and warehouse-like, with far more models on display than the appliance sections of the big box retailers. You'll find row upon row of french door refrigerators at all price points. Still, if you're looking for something super granular - e.g., we needed a gas, slide-in range - you may only have a few choices (which beats the "none" we found on display at the big boxes). They have plenty of help on hand plus the semi-pro lines all had their own staff, the Wolf rep was super helpful. We did find what we wanted - a Wolf range - which we got at a (small) extra discount plus a free pizza stone kit upgrade. As I mentioned before there was a good crowd at the private sale... the line to check out was about half an hour. Delivery/installation was scheduled for about two weeks out from our purchase and was overall a good experience with a small scheduling hiccup - the window was 9:30-1:30 but they actually arrived more like 2 and sent the installer to my house about a half hour too early, when they were still in St. Cloud. Would definitely shop them again when looking to replace other appliances. read more

Complaint about new Maytag refrigerator broken/unrepairable for six months * Date of transaction - Purchased 3/7/22 * Amount of money paid - $1551.39 * Committed to provide a new Maytag refrigerator with icemaker * Dispute over getting the "runaround" for six months. The new refrigerator was delivered to me on 3/11/22. In April, the factory authorized repair company, Expert Home Repairs, Inc. (appliance repair) came out to repair the problem, the freezer was frosting up and the refrigerator was warm inside. They had to order a part. They installed the part. One month later the frig/freezer were not working again, same problem. This happened at least 4 times in six months, all repairs are documented at Maytag. Expert Home Repairs, Inc. will not declare the refrigerator "unrepairable" because they have been burned, not compensated by an appliance company before, and lost over $2000. Maytag sent another company here, Fields Appliance Service. The technician did not honor the window for the service call, 8 AM to 4 PM. I was at work. They called me 30 minutes before their arrival time, at 9:37 AM. I told them I could be there by 11:00. I told them I would leave work and meet them at my home. They told me they could not wait nor return in the PM. The refrigerator does not work. I am living from a cooler filled with the ice I buy at the grocery store. I have lost hundreds of dollars of food in the past six months. I paid $1500 for a new refrigerator that works. The refrigerator needs to be declared "unrepairable" and hauled away. I need Maytag to authorize South East Steel in Orlando to pick up the unrepairable refrigerator and issue me a complete refund. * I have tried to resolve this for six months. Some customer service personnel have tried to help me get a resolution but they are at the bottom of the "feeding chain". The manager came out in a huff threatening to have me towed. I explained I was on a call for five minutes and would be on my way. He held up a towing sticker. I purchased a Speed Queen top-load washer on January 11, 2018 from SouthEast Steel Appliance Warehouse in Orlando, FL. What a mistake. This is the biggest piece of junk appliance I have ever owned. Next Monday, I will see a serivce technician for the 6th time to try to resolve YET another issue. I owned a SEARS washer for 15 years - not one problem. Southeast Steel has expressed NO desire to help me replace this junk. I just want my money back for this lemon. They just say "well, it's under warranty so get a service tech out to fix it". I plan to speak with them one last time to try to resolve...and then I will do whatever necessary to make sure the owner, employees, and customers know about their horrible sales/service.
