The school would not allow his ABA therapist to attend with him, and conversations consistently focused on limitations rather than collaboration or accommodation. Based on our experience, the program appears designed for children who already fit a narrow profile, leaving little room for those who need support. We ultimately chose a school that welcomes our child, works with his providers, and supports his growth--and that decision has made a significant difference.

I didn't feel like my daughter was receiving any better education than the neighborhood preschool we switched to. The teacher also didn't seem to discipline a kid who kept pushing the other kids on the playground, as it never got resolved. drop off/pickup is a NIGHTMARE. the preschool parents have to work around the regular school pickup/drop off. they won't let you park to pick up your kid if the school is still doing elementary pickup, even if theyre super late and it's preschool pickup time. but yet I'd you're late on other days you have to pay a fee. they have no care for parents schedules. the preschool does not follow rules/guidelines by health department in regards to masks. One good thing, at least in my daughters class, there was a lot of diversity of students!

Hadley Matthews 10/22/18…read moreJulie Wheeler English 121 parents and students Colorado Early Colleges Parker As a student of Colorado Early Colleges Parker, I know what it is like to attend the school. Colorado Early Colleges is a charter school that offers free college education for students still in high schooler. This particular CEC is located in Parker, Colorado. I have attended CECP for two years and I am now a junior. Although small and sometimes chaotic, Colorado Early Colleges Parker is a good school that has great teachers, flexible schedules, and family-like students. Most of the teachers at CECP are wonderful people. They attempt to make learning easy and will help any student who is struggling. The teachers are chosen carefully and the jobs are not handed out to just any teacher. Some of the student's favorite teachers are the more outgoing ones who are very engaging and exciting in class. Obviously, there will always be teachers that the students dislike, but not because they do their job poorly. Even the teachers who are not favored by the students make an effort to teach as much as they can. I have discovered that all I have to do is ask for help and it is always given. They will find time out of their day to make sure I understand. The free college that is given to students at the school is very helpful for kid's futures. Students can test into college classes or finish their high school classes first. The school allows students to collect high school and college credits that work into colleges. Many times, kids will have less years of actual college because of the classes they completed while attending CECP. Personally, I am going to stay an extra year here and it can help me with my nursing career. I will be able to get a couple classes out of the way here, so I don't have to live the rest of my life in college. Schedules can be very flexible. They can also take classes at ACC at any time and go off campus. Every student has an adviser who helps them plan out what classes they will take every semester. The adviser tries to relate the classes with what the student wants to do in their future. Career choices play a large role in what classes the students take. College is extremely expensive, so if someone has the opportunity to have some for free, they better take it. The school in Parker is very small. Students have to constantly walk up and down the stairs when they switch classes. It can be annoying but it's not the worst thing in the world. Many classes don't have their own classroom, so it isn't uncommon for one room to be used for multiple classes. The cafeteria can just barely fit all of the students. Fortunately, students all have different class schedules with different off periods, so the cafeteria doesn't need to fit all of the students at once. Being in a packed building can affect students in good and bad ways. Personally, I love the small environment, because I can be closer to people and talk with everyone. But clearly, not everyone is as extroverted as I am. The tightly packed school can cause stress and anxiety for others. Also, being in a building and not an actual school, doesn't give students the chance to have P.E. class or sports. I don't think we will ever have a gym! The students at the school are very accepting. Yes, not everyone can be, but the majority of the kids are great people. We are pretty much all nerds and used to be awkward homeschoolers, or bad kids who got kicked out of public school and this is the only place left to go. The best thing about the school is the fact that grade levels are mixed. When I first joined, I didn't think there were grades at all. Freshmen and seniors can be in the same class. Everyone tests at different levels and the students don't care. They are usually accepting and kind. Someone could be in college math and high school literature, and it's okay. Sure, upperclassmen might still say, "ewww freshmen", but mostly all friend groups are mixed evenly. To me, that's the greatest thing about this school. To many teenagers, school can be intimidating. When I walk into tiny CECP, I am welcomed into a small school with warm smiles. It I would definitely recommend this school. The waiting list is already pretty long. People want to join, and for good reason. Colorado Early Colleges Parker is not perfect, but it is the best school around currently. I rate this school 4 stars. Compared to public schools, CECP is a much better choice.
