MOST of the librarians I've dealt with have been kind. There was one older lady who was not my cup of tea, but whatever. I wouldn't recommend coming here to work or study at all, though. This is an extreme hotspot for the local kids because of the free internet, books, etc. There's kids of all ages here, unsupervised, a lot. It's very common for them to be yelling and running around inside and outside of the library. The selection for books here is much smaller than the Kent and Covington library as well, but it does the job.

I admit I CAN'T resist! I LOVE to rummage through boxes and tables of boxes. You will find me standing, sitting on the ground, sometimes crawling and pushes boxes full of treasures! Not only do I find great treasures, but it all comes with a GREAT price! Now, that's saving peeps! I feel great recycling, finding treasures for others and myself and giving books to the non-profits and their customers... funny... I've met a LOT of peeps who LOVE books like me!

On the occasions that I come in without a book in mind, the shelves are very well organized and the staff are very friendly! Since Covid, they have made it easy and safe to pick up books and I am in LOVE with the surprise bags!! So far I have gotten 2 biography bags, one fantasy and one horror. They were out of the horror one so the librarian asked if I had a minute so she could make one for me. She was super quick and I loved the books I got. Great selection, great service!!

I'm not a fan of parking garages. The library itself is spacious and very open. The high ceilings and bright natural lights greet you as you walk through the door. There are plenty of rooms for studying/conferences. The librarian is so helpful. There isn't enough self checkout computers. Also, they close early on the weekdays (I think 5pm). Bummed that they don't have handy little paper/pencils to jot the codes (location) down near the lib catalogs. My old dementia brain can't remember anything. Pro tip: if you need a particular book, it's better just to put it on hold. Said that it was available but couldn't find it.

I have to say, the staff at this library set the bar HIGH for KCLS - engaging my children (even the shy one glued to my leg) in what they like to read, finding books for them that they haven't read before but match some of their interests and validating their opinions about the books they were reading. They also ran a tight ship organizing a popular summer lunch program. On this particular day, there weren't enough bag lunches for the number of people who came - but they scrambled and arranged for more. VERY CLEAN MODERN LIBRARY…read more The library is part of the King County Library system and is located in the Burian City Hall mixed use structure which was built in 2009 and so it is a fairly new space. It also houses the City Council meeting room, which is currently being used for storage as the council has been meeting on-line since Covid. The library has many computers for members to use for job searches, email etc. You can also print stuff if you need to. When I was there I only saw a couple of people using the PCs out what must have been about 30 of them? The space is very bright with lots of natural light coming in through the windows. It has two floors and has an enclosed "Study Room" on the second floor, but really there are many places to sit, and of course, the library is very, very quiet. The first floor has a very nice children's section with small stools and tables suitable for kids. There are a variety of DVDs and CDs to borrow and of course an assortment of books, as well a large section devoted to Washington State and Seattle history! One of my favorite features is the Newspaper Magazine section. Just grab today's paper, or your favorite magazine and read all you want in a comfortable lounge like environment. No need to buy or borrow as long as you are inside the library. The employees are welcoming and knowledgeable. The lady who had helped me sign up for a library card shared with me all the benefits that come along with it. There are clean restrooms by the entrance before entering the final doors into the library. It's quite updated inside with tables, high chairs, and study desks for people who enjoy more privacy. During that time, you could place your books on hold and schedule a pick up time. My favorite part was that I could add a 'surprise bag' of books for my toddler, and they would set aside 10 awesome selections. Such a time saver! Granted, it's not the biggest branch, but I can always have any book sent here and held for pick up if I don't mind waiting. Overall, an awesome library!

One thing I absolutely Love is they have 2 book shelves that have 3 tiers, full of books you can take without checking out and return once you are finished reading. You never have to wait long or at all to use the computers. They have a big book locker outside for your convenience, if you don't feel like getting your requested materials inside. You can also return your books through a drive through. The parking lot is very convenient and there are 2 separate entrances and exits.
