The staff and Dr Clark are amazing. My sons dog was attacked by another dog and it was after hours. Dr Clark drove into town to take care of her. She lost her eye but the compassion and care this team had for her, I will forever be grateful. read more

We have used STVC for years for our horses. We loved Dr Ted and Dr Larry. Unfortunately Dr Ted left a few years ago. Last night, at 647pm I called the clinic because one of our horses went down. I was sure it was colic. I was told there is NO vet on call and I should call around to the other clinics for help?????? Really?????? Last time I had a sick horse they sure didn't mind taking my 6k. No notification, website still says emergency services available. You wait till an animal is in crisis to let your client know you can't help them? NEVER AGAIN!!! Took our boy to Retama in SA and praying he pulls through. If you have used this clinic for your animals I suggest you change vets before you need them. read more

Excellent facility in how they treat my pets and me, as their client. At one point, I was with a friend out of town and her hunting dog had a potentially serious accident. As we were on a ranch an hour away, I called my vet at South Texas Vet Clinic and said we were heading in for a check of this pointer, they said come on. As soon as we arrived, they examined the dog, did x-rays, were very thorough and the bill was much less than we expected. Front desk staff is great, boarding fees are extremely reasonable, all good here - I highly recommend! read more

This is the most DANGEROUS place to take your pet. I took my dog in when she was in labor (I know my dog well and knew with her breathing and slight contractions she had started labor) and no strong contractions were being produced. She was day 66 and most mini schnauzers give birth 61-63 days. (Date of pregnancy confirmed also with X-ray at 45 days-skeletons were seen on X-ray so we were not FAR off for SURE) The dr did an ultrasound and said babies heart rates are stable and none are in birth canal and that if we chose to do C-Section it may be too early for babies to be viable. (EVEN THOUGH THEY WERE DAY 66!!) Her TEMP had been down at this point also for 36 hours, yes 36! I knew she was in trouble and I wanted a csection but dr told me he didn't recommend it due to her not being ready. So we drove an hour and a half home. Well as soon as we got home she went into hard labor and was unable to pass the babies after pushing an hour. Two sacks burst but no babies. Ended up having to pay 2000 for emergency surgery at 11pm. ALL THE BABIES WERE TOO BIG TO COME OUT NATURALLY. Not only that, one was completely blocking birth canal sideways. That stupid vet should be sued!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He almost killed my dog and her puppies. If they would have died I would have sued him and your clinic. read more

Im extremely disappointed in a certain veterinarian. Its been several years since Ive been to this clinic. There was a female veterinarian that killed my dog to her negligence! It horrific, tragic and we were heartbroken! We made a complaint to the head vet several times because of her severe negligence which ultimately resulted in the death of our dog! I was told I couldnt come back to this Veterinary Office because I was going to report her to the Veterinary board of Medical Association. Mind you, I didnt have a problem with the office and other vets, just this one. There was no question there was negilgence. If I knew then what I knew now, I should of taken it as far as I could. Anyway, a friend of mine takes her dog this past week. I went to help her because she took more then one dog. Never thinking there would be a problem.(Vet that killed our dog is no longer there) We went into the exam room. There were 3 of us in this small room. Im obviously helping them with the dogs. He talked to both of them but didnt even look or say one word to me. It was blatantly rude and unprofessional. It was obvious it was deliberate. Sad, because it was his vet that killed our precious dog after paying approx 5000.00. I just lost all respect for this vet and clinic. I will never recommend them to anyone. read more

I have thought long and hard about this review. It is written with a heavy heart and strong criticism. We are disappointed on so many levels. I have been taking my dog "Jake" to to the clinic approx. 9 months until the day he died. I will start at the beginning. I have always felt good client service begins at the front desk. The clinics front desk can be hit or miss. Sometimes the girls can be friendly but other times they can be full of attitude. They have also made mistakes concerning our bill or even treatment. Hence, told us Jake had to be heart worm tested when he didn't need it. Just one of the examples. Regarding the clinic overall, I strongly feel they should only be a wellness clinic. They cannot provide 24 hr care. They do not respond, as advertised, to emergency after care available. Their excuse was because we live in a rural area. How can you advertise that option if you cannot guarantee that emergency call when it comes in, especially in a rural area where time is critical. In our case, our dog Jake, who had special needs, had two surgeries on a Wednesday,(6-5-13) came home on a Friday.(6-7-13) Saturday afternoon,(6-8-13) Jake started to show symptoms of some real discomfort We called the clinic's answering service @ 7:00 p.m. Our vet never returned our call until approx 8:20 Sunday morning.(6-9-13) She claimed she did not get the call until really, really late due to being in a rural area.This time frame has changed now. Our vet states she didn't get it until the following morning. So 12 hrs later our call was returned and we immediately took him in to the clinic. Once we did take him in, she told me he was dehydrated. She started a IV to give him fluids, changed pain medications and was supposed to put a belly band on him. He had some fluid/swelling underneath his belly also. They kept him. In the process of this I never received any updates on him from our vet until the next morning when she called me to tell me Jake had died.(6-10-13) To add to this..the vet assistant had text & called our vet of her concerns regarding Jake. Our vets response was... okay.She did not come in to check on him or have the vet assistant call her to see exactly what his symptoms were, or have the vet assistant monitor him closely to give her updates while knowing Jake had special needs.The vet understands that if he started to decline, he would most likely decline quickly because of his special needs. Remember this is a dog that she just performed two surgeries on. Im not here to tell you what to do with your pets or where to go. However, I strongly encourage you to gather as much information before making any decisions on your pets treatment whether its vaccines, pain medications(side effects) or surgical. If you leave your pet overnight due to illness or surgery. Ask them who will be with them or if they will be left alone.What happens if they start showing complications overnight? Also, ask them if they have vet assistants or vet techs. These questions may save your pets life. This clinic, who advertised as a small and large animal hospital, have now changed it to "clinic" after I brought it to their attention. $4600.00 later, they have their money, we have a dead dog. Our beloved "JAKE" . Maybe by this review, Jake's death won't be in vain and it will save someone else's precious pet. read more
