There is no better vet clinic in South Texas. I have used vets from San Antonio to Kingsville. We…read moreraise cattle, mules, dogs, cats, goats, and poultry so we have used a lot of vets. Although, this is a small animal clinic, they have our business for our small animals. We all love our critters, they are family, but if you need real vet care that treats you and your animal with dignity, professionalism, and incredible expertise, make the trip here. Many businesses have forgotten what it means to connect with the client and the animal. Not here. This clinic is well run, clean, honest (even if it's not what you want to hear), and is exemplary in their care for the animal and their people. Dr Hensch and her entire staff are fantastic, even when there are hard decisions to be made. It is more than worth a trip to Beeville for ALL your small animals needs.

I've never had a bad experience here until this incident but it was so terrible it overshadowed the…read moredecent experiences. For weeks I've been telling the vet that I'm concerned about my dog trying to have a natural birth because she had so much trouble the first litter and one was stillborn. Two of the vets assured me that succeeding litters are "much easier than the first." Two weeks ago I brought it up again and then again on Friday. The vet tells me (the owner of the clinic) that if she starts having trouble to bring her in for an emergency c-section. So today I call them and I don't know who the girl was that I talked to but I don't think I've talked to her before but she was so rude! I tell her what's going on and she asks me all these questions about lactation and temperature blah blah blah. I tell her I've done all that and she says, "Well we'd need her to be checked out before getting her a c-section." I told her it's an emergency and she said, "Sorry, the soonest I can get you in is tomorrow at 3:30." Then she says, "I don't know if you know this but a c-section is about $1300-$1500. Is that something you could do?" What? Yes, I just want to save my dog and her puppies! So then her first water breaks. No puppy. The second water breaks. No puppy. I call the vet clinic and she puts me on hold. She comes back and says, "Oh you need to take her in but we don't have room for her so you'll have to go to Corpus or Victoria." I'm panicking now calling all the clinics and South Texas Vet Clinic said they could take her. I rush her over there, they check her out and say they can feel a puppy stuck but couldn't grab it. They rush her into surgery but tell me that the stuck puppy is most likely deceased but they'll try to save the rest. I'm so tore up at this point. So I wait and wait and wait for two hours and the vet comes out and says they're all doing great and mom is awake. She saved ALL THE PUPPIES. Then to have the absolute audacity to call me from here and remind me of my dog's appointment. If your pet needs basic care like shots, annual exams, spay/neuter, etc then this place is probably fine but if your pet needs specialized care then definitely go to a place equipped for a higher level of care. I wish they had just been honest and admitted they can't handle high acuity pets instead of dismissing my concerns and then being so rude like I don't know what's normal for my pet.
