I badly needed to do a lot of laundry at once, and therefore took my laundry here.
The Good: It's big, there are a couple of tables to sit at, a sink to rinse things at, and folding tables. I brought a friend and we played cards while laundry was doing it's laundry thing. There is free Shaw WiFi, and it's nice & quiet - no music or loud anything other than the sound of washers & dryers and some quiet chatter from people already there. There are quite a few machines.
The Bad: While they may have a lot of machines, at least 50% of them were out of service for whatever reason, which limited people coming in to do their laundry - they had to wait or just left. There are not enough chairs/tables/resting places but plenty (and by plenty, I mean a TON) of plants taking up space everywhere, and the decor is really old and peeling. It could use a facelift, though that doesn't affect laundry for sure.
The Ugly: It's FILTHY. The machines are dirty and while there was one employee there doing laundry/giving change/pushing a broom around, the floors are utter filth. If you drop clothing coming out of the machines (which are also in dire need of being regularly wiped out) on to the floor, they will need to be rewashed.
The rinsing sink only has hot, so you get about 3 seconds of water before your hands are burned. It's unsafe, and just lazy not to be fixed. There's a sign warning of this that is quite old, so it's been an issue for a long time.
Speaking of signs, there are passive-aggressive signs yelling everywhere about not putting laundry in this way or that way or no oily/rig clothing, not responsible for putting quarters in the wrong machine, no refunds - you can spend at least half of the time waiting for your washing machine just reading the insane amount of signs everywhere.
There are lines of ancient and dirty dried out fruit (I think they were oranges or lemons?) all over the window sills, covered in dirt, dust, and cobwebs, and the bathroom is the same: dirty, dusty, cobwebby, with ancient dried notsurewhat (cinnamon sticks from 1992?).
Also, the website says that .25 cents in the dryer is 5 minutes. It's not, it's 4 minutes, and the dryers automatically default to permanant press, so if you don't change the setting manually, your clothing never dries. This default happens even if you quickly open the drier to add another item, which is just annoying and cost me extra quarters. It's a hinky practice and unappreciated.
Overall, it's a good place to go. It's bright, not insanely hot inside, ventilated, and the machines do their job, but I just hated the filthy machines and dirty floors and dust/cobwebs everywhere. read more
