I highly recommend South Side Ink for a professional and fun easy-going experience. Benz and his crew love what they do and Benz has 25 years of experience. The studio is clean and equipment is all state of the art. It had been a long time since I had a tattoo and things have really changed for the better. My tattoo was done in two sessions and I felt practically no pain. The healing protocol was easy and trouble-free. Darren was the person who did my back piece tattoo! Very professional and did what I wanted. He even gave me ideas along the way which I agreed on. I still have one more session to go but I'm already satisfied with what I got. I probably had to go 4 sessions to finish my whole back piece but it was well worth the pain. If you ever in the area and need a tattoo done. Check out Darren and tell him I sent you. He'll take good care of you I promise. I live in Kapolei and I passed by this place just off random going to my friends house, she lives in Ewa. It's in the back roads behind of the hospital. You can't miss it. It definitely looks like a cool shop from the outside and you aren't dissapointed when you inside as well. The staff are very professional and I love that their books are displayed as soon as you walk in. My friend wanted to get a fast tattoo and I accompanied her. They charged her $60 for a small piece of lettering. -air conditioning -free parking -atm inside -massage chair -licensed -cute artists -good work -mostly poly, so it looks like -give certificates available -They have a piercer now, lol Yup, all in all I'm rating them 5 stars. :) read more

Although this spot is tough to find, it's definitely worth seeking. My tattoo artist was Keoni and he was great. Super nice and although newer to the tattoo game, very talented. He's got a really light hand which definitely made the pain more bearable! :) I try to get a tattoo whenever I travel to different places. I'll admit it: I was a LITTLE wary when my Uber driver dropped me off in the middle of nowhere and walked into what seemed to be a tiny place. But, Darren came up with a big smile on his face and was so gracious, I felt at ease. This is my third tattoo, first one here and it was the best experience! Darren does GREAT work: the line work is superb. Very nice guy...everyone was really nice. Very clean place and Darren was meticulous about keeping everything pristine. Also there was NO REDNESS which my friend says he was very tender with my skin (she's a nurse). If you're on Oahu and want a tattoo, make your way to Ewa Beach and find this place. If you're from Ewa Beach, bets are you've probably came here for a tattoo--whether it be a penny sized tattoo or an entire back piece, they do it all here. To my belief, each artist here is skilled in their own default, but is able to reach beyond their comfort zone for customers. In my case, I came in prospective, yet confident in my decision to get a tattoo here. A special thanks to Kahiau for tattooing a special bible scripture over my heart. And although it faded 3 weeks in (which the reason was unknown) he willingly re-did it because it was very faded and since then, i'd say it's 90% better, however, there is still some spots where it's faded. It's located literally right in between families houses. Their shop is like most tattoo shops off the beaten path (old ewa beach road); small, clean, yet with the adequate space needed to get a tattoo. Yes, there is a bathroom and a barber shop next door. And to prospective applicants, or tattoo virgins, I implore you to take the joy of hunting for the right shop and the right artist to tattoo whatever it may be--so you're in love with the outcome. Keoni was my tattoo artist for the evening and he did a wonderful job. I sent pictures and told him an idea of what I wanted. The result couldn't have been better and I'm in love with my new tattoo. At first I was a little unsure because I was supposed to have an appointment with one artist who didn't come in until much later, but Alex just happened to be free while I was waiting and with a big friendly smile he said he'd help me out. He listened to my idea and offered his own suggestions and together we worked out a design that was better than what I had originally envisioned. He was creative and professional and checked with me every step of the way to make sure I was cool with the look I was getting. It was only my second tattoo, so I wasn't totally experienced, but he was great, and I can't say enough about how pleased I am with the results. When it was all finished, I was expecting to pay a lot more than what he charged me, so I was more than happy with the price. I'll also say that the rest of the staff, while I was waiting, were all very polite, helpful, all asked me multiple times how I was doing and if I needed anything. A great shop and they deserve a lot of positive reviews! It's so important that a tattoo be a pleasant experience because you're going to look at it forever and remember how you felt when you got it. Braddah Al is the best!!!! My last tattoo was done about 15 years ago and I haven't gotten another one since because all I could think about was the pain... I really wanted another piece done to honor my parents, but I couldn't do it because of my last experience. Needless to say I decided to get one done and my girlfriend suggested South Side Ink. Recently moved to the West Side to be closer to work. One day, I decided to yelp near by tattoo shops. Guess what popped up? South Side Ink. I clicked on the link and discovered that this shop is only a 3 minute drive from my house. I decided to jump in my car and check it out. This hidden gem is located on the back roads on Old Ft Weaver Rd. It is attached to a barbor shop. I walked inside and was greeted with a friendly "Hi, how may I help you?" I let the guy know that I was interested in getting a tattoo. He pointed me over to the coffee table full of artist books. I picked up each book and flipped through the pages of art / tattoo pieces. I decided to go with Levi (tattoo artist) based off his tattoo work in his portfolio. Levi was at the shop that day and pulled me aside to chat about a possible tattoo. I am not artistic / creative at all. I threw him an idea and let his imagination play around with it. We scheduled me a tattooing session a few weeks out. Within the week and a half of waiting, Levi reached out to me and kept me in the loop. I asked him questions and he answered them in a timely manner. The day came for my tattoo and the result is amazing. Levi is a great artist who listens to his clients. The attention to detail is amazing. The atmosphere in this shop is a good one. No pressure. Saw their booth at the Hawaii Tattoo Expo and they had great prices for what I wanted to get so I…read moredecided to get my third lobes and mid helix done. First off, EXTREMELY unorganized. All of their jewelry was stored in plastic containers where the employees were just digging through, without gloves (SO unsanitary), to find the jewelry that the customers wanted. I wanted titanium flat backs because I'm allergic to sterling silver and I don't heal well if it is pierced with steel. The girl who pierced me looked through all the containers before finding 3 gold colored titanium flat backs with silver colored titanium ball toppers. The piercing process started out okay, she cleaned off the area, although not very thoroughly, and marked where she was going to pierce and let me see before she started the process. I don't think they sterilized the jewelry before they pierced me either, even though different, ungloved, employees were digging around in the jewelry boxes just before. She opened a new needle and started on my lobes, these were pretty smooth. The biggest issue came when she started on my mid helix. Told me take a deep breath and she pushed the needle through, then went to guide the jewelry in, but could only get it HALFWAY. I heard her whisper "oh shoot" under her breath before proceeding to try multiple times to push the jewelry all the way through. She asked the other guy, Jay, for help and they both stood there pushing my ear around for a solid 3 minutes before the jewelry was fully through. It was a while before the piercing was done, I could feel the blood on my ear slipping around while he essentially tried to repierce it with the jewelry. Neither of them used a clamp, or even a tube to catch the needle as it went through to the other side, just used their hands which I could feel were slipping off my ear. To top it all off, my mom told me after that they used the same needle for all three of my piercings, super unsanitary! I've gotten thick cartilage piercings done before this (rook, nostril, helix) and I have NEVER had an experience like this. I will not be coming back here, not even for my jewelry changes. The only good thing I would say about this experience was that the lady at the front was polite and friendly, and the girl who pierced me was also nice, I just wish the process of the actual piercing was a bit cleaner and smoother. I hope nobody else has an experience like this, and I hope my piercings don't get infected.
