The nachos were a no from me. The cheese on the nachos was like stadium nachos - straight from the can. The wings were pretty good. Very crispy with a nice sauce. We ordered vodka pizza which was also pretty good. The fries that came with the sandwiches were similar to frozen crinkle cut fries. I expected better knowing that the place was pretty popular, and sports bars typically have really good food. Stick to pizza & wings when you visit. You can't go wrong there!

There isn't a cocktail menu, just basic vodka cranberry/rum & coke which I was a little dissapointed in. But hey, what can I expect from a local pub. With that being said, the happy hour food was totally worth it! I highly suggest the boom boom wings. They were packed with flavor, not to mention the wings are huge. I did feel like this place was understaffed though. We came on a Wednesday night around 6 PM and the place was getting busy with locals. It was only the bartender and one waiter out on the floor. Sometimes it was impossible to get their attention since they were so busy, plus the food took a bit of time to come out. My co-workers and I will most likely return since it was quite affordable and tasty.

So, when I saw that one of my faves, Cece Peniston, was going to be there and the tickets were so reasonable, I had to jump at the chance. I know that promotion for specific events are separate than the venue itself, so this is for the space, drinks, and vibe only.. Since I read such reviews about the place being in need of a good cleaning and other not so good things, I was actually pleasantly surprised when I found it not to be as skeevy as I'd expected. The bartender was nice looking, friendly, and made a great drink. Wonderful cosmo! The DJ was playing great music.. great old New Brunswick college town vibes with the pool table and Rutgers paraphernalia around. I wasn't too happy about the downstairs area where they put on the shows.. it seemed like an old church basement, just sorta bootleg. They said that they remodeled, so not certain how it was before. I'd much rather be upstairs. I would probably return to enjoy a laid back round of a pool during happy hour. It's really a vibe to me.

If you're a first-time visitor, it's recommended to enter through the "exit only" door, which is the preferred entrance for regular patrons. Inside, the bar provides a cozy setting with a long counter, a pool table, and an interesting combination of a liquor store and bar. Although the space is not particularly large, it manages to accommodate around 20 people comfortably. The drink selection at the bar was somewhat limited, as I discovered that Makers Mark was not among the options. Nevertheless, the bar staff was friendly and engaging, sparking enjoyable conversations that made us decide to stay for an additional drink. Parking is hassle-free, adding to the convenience of the visit. If you're in the area and seeking a relaxed venue to grab a drink, Last Call in Sayreville is worth the opportunity to appreciate the friendly service and soak up the unique atmosphere.
