This mall is a nice size. There were plenty of stores in here, but a lot of space. They still have the play area and there were kids all over the place! They were having a great time! It was so nice to see. We didn't go all the way through the mall but hit up a few stores. There is a pretty good selection of stores in here. Many of your typical stores are in here. read more

Of course I'm a fan of South Plains Mall. Lubbock is the closest place to me for options. I laugh at Nickie B.'s comment from 2/3/2022: "Always busy, lots of shoppers from NM, a little sketchy sometimes but overall it is a decent mall." As if us New Mexicans cause said sketchy tendencies. LOL. Most of the New Mexicans I personally know are former born and raised Texans! Lol... Parking is free and scattered in flat lots all around. My mom used to take us kids school shopping here before school started each August. And to get away from the heat. Still a fan. read more

This is a busy and happening mall, which is nice to see since a lot of indoor malls are long gone.

The food court was great, but they had a claw machine game that was a scam and the tokens were 1 dollar, the claw of the game wasn't grabbing on to the prizes and when it's off the ground for a second it drops back down. read more

Lubbock is a small city, sometimes I don't even consider it to be a city (since it lacks so much), anyways, this is the only real indoor mall Lubbock has. I like it, it's basic, but it always has stores adding onto it. So glad they brought a H&M to the mall. I really like that store now. It's a clean mall and mostly families crowd the mall on the weekends, so its best (for college students) to come during the week to avoid traffic. I've been in ghost town malls before and this is far from it. I don't shop here often, but when I do I find deals. read more

I love the variety of the stores in this mall and you couldn't also notice the cleanest and no thugery here. Especially points given for the Sears that I visited to buy some tools for work and for the gentleman that helped me and was very helpful. I would assume there are around 200 if not more variety of stores here, just the right amount just like back home in a bigger city. Also I plus they have a updated Cinema here with all of the current updates on their concessions and then some. This mall has everything that I need and want. They have an H&M, forever 21, an eyebrow threader, Sephora, an imax theater, and a bath and body works just to name a few. The layout is weird though, and we found ourselves coming to dead ends a few times. There are directories spread throughout though, to make it a little easier. It wasn't too busy when we arrived although it was closer to the closing time. We will definitely be back to do some serious shopping damage! read more

I currently work at the mall but even I can see when improvement needs to be made. My first problem is the stores are quite small. There are lots of empty stores not being rented out and they could be used to expand stores crowded small stores like hot topic or Spencer's. Those stores are very popular but I rarely am able to go in because of the lines. Another issue is the food court. We need a variety. I love charleys and chic fil la but we need to add something. I'm not sure what but there is a lot of Asian cuisine here and maybe add a desert bar or a seafood place. Give some variety. My last complaint is the the bathrooms. They are all or mostly all closed. How are people supposed to eat and walk around and not use a bathroom. After eating in the food court you have to walk all the way to the women's Dillard to find a restroom. Maybe add a restroom to prevent crowding in bathrooms or just simply open the food court bathrooms up again. Now for some positive. I do enjoy going to the mall. It has all my favorite stores and I can always find deals. I do enjoy coming to the mall. I would just love to be able to bring my kids without struggling with these issues. I love this store but to be honest, it clearly needs a ton of renovation. It sucks that its a fairly huge space but the stores inside it looks rather meh. Yup, it has everything you need from shoes and clothes to phone repairs and eyebrow threading but still I think this could do better. There are hard to reach places and good stores are found usually at the end of a narrow path. One more thing that bugs me is that this mall needs more food joints. Chick-fil-A and some Chinese and Asian food on the food court? Come on. Pretty sure we could do better than this. Update the mall layouts and add more stores. This is the only mall here in Lubbock so this place better step up. read more

The South Plains Mall doesn't​ have that many stores but it has some of the best stores that you would want. Also, if you can not find the stores you want, you can most likely find it somewhere in Lubbock. Also, while you are there make sure you stop by and watch a movie because they have a great theater connected​ to the mall. My mother and I were going to Dillard's. I let her out at the front of the store so I could park the car. As soon as I pulled away, two men ran in front of my car in a big hurry. When I parked the car, I looked for mom and saw that the two men were assisting my mother who fell in the parking lot. It had not been 15 seconds since I dropped her off that those wonderful men ran to help her. Fortunately, she was not injured badly but they stayed with her until security came to give her aid. One of the men even took his glove off to put under her head. I think that they worked in construction on the building. People say it's a devil's world right now but not at the South Plains Mall. They only have angels working construction and security! Thank you for all that you did that day--we will never forget you! read more

The general consensus is that people only come here because it's the only mall in the vicinity. Even my friend that lives New Mexico often drives up to Lubbock to shop here. I am somewhat sympathetic because this mall is extremely unsubstantial. It's only one floor, and doesn't have a legit food court, at least that I saw. But the good thing is that if you're looking for something in particular, you should still be able to find it here. I don't believe there is anything major missing. It's the biggest mall in Lubbock, Texas. The stores are ok, and you might find what you are looking for. You can't compare it with a mall in a bigger city and as Lubbock is in the middle of nowhere you might not find all the stores you would find in a bigger city. Good thing that they got rid of the the puppy mill store. The animal shelter has more small dogs that need a home. read more

For starters, the decor is VERY outdated. The tile floors are ancient. It is slick and I think it is hard to walk on. They also keep moving the small stores around as they wish. That makes these small, local shops not want to decorate it hang signs. They end up looking cheap and temporary. Not what I like to see in the mall. They have recently lost several major retailers (Gap, Abercrombie). It is becoming a local shop type of mall. That's sub par for a city the size of Lubbock. They did just redo the food court and that looks good. It doesn't match the rest of the mall whatsoever so it is pit of place but it is nice. Also, they allow these carts in the middle of the halls to act like carneys and you are constantly having to avoid them lest you be wrapped up in some silly, rehearsed spiel for 10 minutes. read more

This mall is in the worst of the worst period, ever. Most people has given it high rate because they don't not know how bullshit of this management. The office manager is busy of traveling to another planet and is impossible to reach whenever we (store tenants) have the issues. Also, the office hour is depend on their moods; that means if they have happy day, they will close the office earlier (about 1-2hours); and if they are in bad mood, they even close it earlier. This awful mall is asking the stores to make the mall beautiful and there are multiple places keep leaking inside the mall whenever it's raining. That is funny, huh? This mall was pretty weak, at least two anchor stores were vacant as well as different interior shops. The food court was almost nonexistent (I did disturbingly see a place called "Corn Dog Heaven"), they had a sushi place on their map but I couldn't find it in the mall... Maybe it was closed? [Update: I checked the website and it said that the sushi place will be open in "late summer 2010," as part of the expanded food court, however it is Sept. 19th] Ended up with Chick Fil A and the tables in the front were filthy (and the only tables available). The Barnes and Noble was nice, it looked brand new and has free WiFi. Overall, I just feel like this mall is in decline. It wasn't busy or anything... read more

I cannot give my re-review an upgrade. It is inexcusable that the reno is not complete. The hallway kiosks have gotten worse. Despite all of this, the mall seems as busy as ever. Parking can be quite the adventure. Fix the entrance on Slide Rd, too, it's an axle breaker. The stores themselves are fine, and Lubbock is lucky to have a good selection. read more

Considering this is the only mall in LBB, it is ok for what it is. I hate that the Dillards are separated into mens and womens sides so I have to trek across to go to either one. They could use a few more upscale stores but I guess that's why we have Kingsgate. read more

It's the only mall in town so I can't really compare it to much but as far as malls go it's decent.

This mall isn't that fantastical, but it gets the job done. It has a few good stores and some really awesome popcorn. The stores I like are: Barnes and Noble, Dillards, and lastly Victoria Secret. They used to have one of my favorites stores, The Gap, but that tragically packed up and left Lubbock. I go to the mall when I need to check out Dillard's sales, or get my free panty from Victoria's Secret that I receive in the Mail every so often. The actual mall is clean and typical. This is a place to go in, get what you need, and get out. Other malls in bigger cities are for perusing around and finding unexpected treasures and sales. This mall is not that, but it better than other malls I have seen. read more

This mall is definitely dying. I used to really enjoy this mall as a kid, but now it's too small and congested. The stores are just little local stores that decided to open up in there. Some are great others are not so great. It's also sooooo hot there. We could only stand to be there for 30 minutes. Its all we have here in Lubbock. They do have just enough good stores to get what you need, but its just hard getting around to all those stores. It may sound funny but if you dont come here much you could get turned around a bit. The layout is just dumb. The main reason I come here is to take my daughter to the Lil Jungle to play. Its located between Bealls and Sears and is great for the smaller kids and you can park on the west side and walk right in (avoiding the Mall all together) and much better than the little play center that the mall has. If it wasnt for the Lil Jungle I wouldnt come to the Mall much at all. read more

Terrible Hours, Constant Construction, Stores Closing/Moving left and right, 5 shop "Food Court" and only 1 floor. I realize it's the only Mall in LBB but that's all the more reason it should be better. The movie theater and BarnsNobles are pretty much it's savior. There are large annoyances like a TRAIN and children on Scooters constantly in the walk ways, with no designated areas. Also the mall's structure is a huge safety hazard. There are falling ceilings, exposed wires, plastic tape guarding massive holes in the walk ways. The mall owners are not good to their store owners and charge as much as places like Dallas would. This of course causes the loss of so many businesses. The place is not ever huge so I'm not sure why I've seen mall cops on Segways! They have been under construction for the past year. I already see their "New" stuff (such as tables) breaking and being unclean-able. Probably WHITE was a poor choice for such a dirty environment. Also I would think that for one of the few things to do in LBB that being open from 12pm to 6pm on the weekend, and 9pm other days would be poor business practice. Sure you can be like "What does she know?". I'm just a person trying to shop but can't because the mall is closed, hazardous, or the shop I was looking for is now gone. It's alright there, but it's slowly dying. They need some new stores and more places to eat. I will say that the improvements that they've made inside have made a vast difference in the perception of the mall. To be honest, the mall has become ghetto, which is sad. I have been raised in Lubbock. So personally, nowadays the stores in the mall are getting better. Obviously not near as big as a mall you would find in Dallas, Austin, ECT. It's good for Lubbock. Not much of a food court so I don't suggest eating there. But we are getting some better (more affordable) stores such as A'Gaci and forever 21. read more

This mall is starting to look so good and modernized now that it is being renovated. I think there is a good variety of stores there, and this mall is super clean most of the time. I love the events they host in the main entry by Barnes and nobles. The restrooms are clean which is always a plus, and I like that they have a playground for kids, and a tattoo shop.
