Several years ago I used to go to South Beach locations all the time but then I took a break from self tanning due to health reason and just recently I decided it was time to go back and this location is closest to my house. I love that regardless of the time that my information was still in their system on what I previously got, which beds, spray time, times, etc and that it was simple to just set everything up again. I went back right before my trip to Cabo since it had been years since I had actually been in sunlight for any real time periods but my natural color, given my heritage is pretty dark. I was happy to see that they had a special going on for the rest of the real that would cover both the regular tanning and spray tan for a reasonable price. Each time I have gone into this location, I am greeted with a smiling face and warm Welcome and I haven't had to wait more than 45 seconds to get into a room yet. read more

First I want to say that I love the people that work at South Beach tanning, especially the manager Rachel. The girls there are super great: always helpful and friendly. My problem is with the recent buyout by Zoom tan and the changes they are making. They have changed their hours to 10-8 Monday thru Friday and 10-5 Saturday and Sunday. I assume that the thought is south beach members could go to a zoom tan 24 hour location if they want to tan after South Beach closes. The thought is valid, if I wanted to drive an additional 19 minutes, tan in a stand up coffin size (or smaller) tanning booth and get claustrophobic, and not have the purpose of my tanning experience to be in a lay down bed for my 12 minutes or relaxation while listening to good music. South Beach tanning was very customer oriented - they had Kleenex in all booths to wipe lotion off hands after applying lotion, they had deodorant in case you needed a boost for after tanning, they have many different levels of lay down booths to rotate for better tanning experiences and better tanning quality, and they had a fantastic selection of lotions by Devoted. Now the deodorant, klennex are done. Lotion selection is less than half of the options as before, there is a horrible rumor that they are going to remove the lay down booths and only offer small coffin size stand up booths, and the worst of all is that many of the wonderful staff that worked there have left. While Rachel the manager is still there (thank goodness) customer service is not the same. South Beach was busy most all the time and now it isn't. And it is a real shame because it is the best tanning salon around when operating as South Beach. Maybe the new owner should think about the customers and why we are loyal to South Beach and she should concentrating on leaving the successful business at South Beach'a business model alone as it was very successful. Maybe she should leave the lay down booths alone for those of us who never want to stand up (especially for those of us who are curvy and don't like claustrophobia, and fix the hours back to support the customers. Maybe the lost business would also come back. The changes are not positive. read more

Do not go to this place. It's filled with immature, catty college girls who work there. They are condescending and rude. They are more interested in trying to show how smart they are than trying to be helpful and meet your needs. The issue is, I am aware and I understand, and yet they want to talk to you like you're a kid who knows nothing and wants to talk to you like you are in elementary school. The beds are nice, but the cattiness and rude behavior is uncalled for, especially from the manager. Sometimes you give a young college person a chance to manage and they act like they are on a power trip. A lot of the times the beds were not clean either. They are too busy gossiping. When I tried to contact the corporate office they were like, "They are college kids, what do you expect?" That says it all right there. So I do not recommend this place at all. read more

This is my go to place for vacation prep to build a base tan. Monthly membership, package deals and single session options. I go with whatever works for my schedule and timeframe. Service is friendly and not your typical tanning salon where the lotion sales are aggressive. SB seems to get to know their customers. The Gold level beds are always clean and well kept. I've noticed an inconsistency with heat -busy days or brand new bulbs will be hotter than usual. Worth keeping in mind when first starting out. read more

A bit hit and miss with the staff here. I wish I'd got the names of the girls because some are definitely more knowledgeable than others. If you don't have much tanning experience, make sure you research the recommended timing on a bed for your skin type first. When I first went in, both the girls were friendly and had a fairly good idea of what I should do. When I went in for the third time, the girl said "do you want the full time". Clearly looking at me that would be a terrible idea (I'm Norwegian). She said I should be okay doing a couple of minutes longer than I did before, so I did. I felt my skin tingling so I got out with a minute left and I still burned. Definitely trust your own knowledge if you're used to tanning like I am, but the staff should be better educated. If I'd done the full time it would have been awful. I did appreciate that they don't constantly try to get you to buy lotion like so many other salons do. Definitely a bonus. read more

Very clean beds. Awesome specials that they run quite frequently. The staff is very knowledgeable and extremely nice. Definitely our go to tanning place. Makes you feel so good when it's rainy outside to get a bit of sunshine! read more

Place is run with immature 20 year olds who don't know the meaning of customer service. The manager of this location is rude and is more interested in showing how smart and intelligent she is and talks a million miles a minute. they ask you to keep your goggles and tanning lotion there. don't my lotion has disappeared in a few occasions. The beds are supposed to be sanitized their not. the place is the worst of all the places I have been too. The customer service is pathetic. read more

So far my experience here has been excellent. Walk ins only, I have never arrived not to find a bed available. Staff efficient and friendly. Just here for limited sessions to get some base tan before vacay and this is a perfect fit. Rooms and beds are clean. read more

I've been coming here for about a year I've tried their tanning beds and spray tans, every time I come in they always perfectly answer any questions that I might have. The tanning beds and spray tan machines are always very clean. They also always have great recommendations for how long I should use the tanning bed and what color will best suit me. read more

2 words! Customer service! The staff here is amazing. They have their act together, and truly knowledgeable about their machines and products. EVERYONE IS WELL TRAINED!! Rachel, Skye and all the WHOLE staff are always super friendly and efficient. Rachel has kept me coming back there for almost 2 years now. They have the BEST machines, but the hospitality is unparalleled. Rachel keeps the place running so smoothly, you never have to wait, and they run specials all the time. The hours are great, and the place is immaculate and super cool inside. No one wants a hot tanning salon! Check it out! read more

I love this salon they know me by name been coming here for years off and on the staff is not pushy with contracts. I can change my preference in tanning techniques without any fuss. The staff is super nice. I will recommend this place to all my friends read more

The beds are okay - there is always something broken or a number of beds broken. The girls work on commission, so that speaks for itself. Buy your tanning lotion of amazon! Staff is not too friendly. I'm not looking for much when I go tanning but probably wouldn't go back to this place when my month is up. read more

Staff closed down early and ruined a photo shoot weekend I had planned for months. Any other establishment, if it's before closing time...you make the sale. It would have taken five minutes but it cost me a lot of time and money and this was the only time I could make it. Very disappointed with the lack of empathy and professionalism. read more

LOVE THIS PLACE ! Had amazing deals for the holiday , I was in a wedding and I needed a quick tan . Great Hours , tried a few of the beds in which were all clean , the color i got was great , and each bed had music which you dont find to often . All of the staff was super thorough and friendly and unlike most places did not try and push anything on you which was nice for a change ! This tanning salon is a little bit of a trip for me but it is well worth it to get good service and great color ! Also did the airbrush tan believe it or not it lasted over a week , i never turned orange , and the girls were very helpful explaining in detail how things worked ! Highly recommend south beach tanning and wish there was one closer to Tarpon springs ! read more

BUYERS BEWARE!!!! Had to cancel a tanning subscription after a year of continuous service. They charged me anyways, and then would only offer store credit instead of a refund. When I complained to coporate, I received a rude email in response, basically calling me a liar about cancelling, stating they have a flawless computer system that could never make a mistake. I reported them to the better business bureau, and am in the process of getting my money back that they STOLE, by making a claim with my bank. It makes me sick to my stomach that I gave these thieves my credit card information, so that they can make unauthorized charges to my account. I m just trying to warn people. There are MANY other tanning salons to choose from, and ones that do not require you to give them your credit card number. These people really treated me like #$%$, and I was a good customer to them for a long time. read more

My experience at the south beach tanning company has been more than incredible. Let me tell you about myself, I was very self conscious about the color complex I was given. I wasn't pale but I was also not tan, as you can see I was in a world of distress because of the predetermined genetics that lead to the color of my skin. Self tanners didn't do it for me, I looked like a combination of Doritos and highlighters. I was unhappy. finally after bottoming out at home with a bottle of self tanner and got myself set up at south beach with a tanning package. Thanks to Ashley's tanning plan I'm the envy of all my friends, I've got my bronze skin today and I don't have to self tan again. My confidence is at an all time high and I can live my life with the joy of knowing my skin is beautiful and I am beautiful. Thank you south beach for everything. read more

Update: today I received a phone call from Sarah at South Beach Tan. Apparently the owners of the salon saw my review and wanted to connect with me to "make right" my past experience. Sarah was happy to replace my spray tan experience with sessions in their red light therapy room. I definitely will give it a try and appreciate the owner caring enough to make right the experience I previously had. read more

Absolutely LOVING this salon!!!! The beds are fantastic and comfortable. The staff is nice and informative and always offers the deals available. I love this salon the staff is friendly and on commission or not no one pressured me into a membership the staff actually listened to my needs and gave me a plan that was best for me and more cost efficient and gave me the option that at any point I can upgrade.. South Beach Tanning is an excellent choice for high quality tanning. The people who work there are excellent and they know a lot about the beds and lotions. The prices are a little high but you do get what you pay for. My only wish is they would get some tanning pillows as it is hard to lie down comfortably without them. But overall, this is the place to tan in the Tampa Bay area!! read more

Always nice people.always welcoming. Clean. Always easy. Great specials. Basic decor. In and out quick.

I didn't sign up for this bed by choice, my wonderful bed closed unfortunately, and my membership was deferred. Initial reaction, the place is pretty cool. Everything is decorated nicely, beds clean, LOTS of neon....but the beds aren't as good as my former place, for what I'm paying. It's more money if I want to bump to the higher beds. I do like that I haven't had to wait at all at the times I've been there, they have a decent amount of tanning beds. Also, you can't go to tan without them trying to sell you on something, typically lotion. That is frustrating to me, I don't want to get a sales pitch every time I visit the establishment to tan. Another frustration that I have is that there is nothing to rest your head on in the bed. I have to bring in an extra towel so that my head isn't laying directly on fiberglass. read more

Clean, good prices, and friendly staff. SB tanning is a great spot for real or spray tans. They are always running good promos too. Watch Facebook, and every few months a groupon for 3 spray tans for $25 comes out. Their veraspa spray tan is great. Instant bronzing plus extra color in a few hours. I suggest not wearing white if you're going to be sweating though bc it will come off a little bit. read more

Called on Saturday to see if appointments are needed for spray tanning and check price since I had not been there before. Drove 20 minutes to find out that the spray tan booth was broken all day. Would of been nice to know that before I drove there. Waste of my time! read more

Clean friendly service.very. Very... very pricey. I was told explicitly that I needed to give notice mid-month if I was going to cancel my service (for the next month) or change the package. So I don't see what the deal is there. read more

Rude front desk. Felt like she was too pushy to add on when I knew exactly what I wanted when I walked in the door. The room I was in is open right to Tampa rd. No electronic shades.. you have to pull it closed yourself. I will not be returning. I would rather drive farther for anywhere but this place. read more

Tonight when I went into the oldsmar location, I asked a question about a tanning bed. The extremely untrained and disrespectful employee responded with snarky remarks. A customer next to me broke out in laughter, in which I left your location in tears. I have never felt so belittled. I have NEVER been treated like this as a customer from any location. I will never return. I have been such a loyal customer I've never referred multiple friends (which will never happen again). Worst service EVER. read more

Despite what I've seen from recent posts and reviews; I totally disagree with the negative comments and reviews. I've been tanning here for years and yes sometimes there is new staff and they may not be as educated about product as some of the other veterans but it's always a great quiet and peaceful atmosphere. I never feel pressured or given a sales pitch when I go. These beds are always kept to high standards with bulbs changed frequently. The staff is wonderful and informative and I will not tan anywhere else. I've been doing this for a long time. SBT read more

I got STAGE 3 SKIN CANCER from using their tanning beds. You always think it'll never happen to you until it does. After 2 surgeries, I now have to get 3 years of immuno/chemotherapy treatment. When I called the front desk to tell them why I am cancelling and why I wont be coming back to sign cancelation papers, the girl could care less & had the nerve to give me an attitude. But I expected nothing less as knew exactly who the girl was as I have dealt with her "tude" before. Some of the front desk girls always have been impersonal, lacked customer service skills & only cared about making a sell anyway. Just say NO to tanning beds. Don't learn the hard way. read more

I am a long time client and tanning relaxes me and helps with my Fibromyalgia. I love the lotions you offer, the beds are great, and the girls that work there awesome. It was my first time coming to South Beach Tanning Company. I worked with Angela. Extremely friendly, knowledgeable about tanning, and had me signed up as a first time customer in no time. She explained all tiers of service, and gave me a nice tour of the facilities. She explained the different lotion types, tanning bed types, etc. Couldn't say the experience could've went any better. Give Angela a raise, she's a pro and represents your company very well. :-) read more

I've never had an issue with South Beach Tanning Co. in Oldsmar Fl. The staff has always been super friendly and helpful, they even know me by name, even after being out for 3 months! One of the staff member even recalled there was one bed I didn't like (just a matter of preference, not that there's anything wrong with it), couldn't believe she would remember such a thing! The beds are always clean, and so is the facility, and I've never had any issues getting a session in. I've used there "freeze my membership" option and I think it's a great idea so you don't lose the rate you're given when you first sign up. I've never been charged more than what they say they will charge, even when it's "frozen" I've not been billed. I would highly recommend this facility, and I personally won't be going anywhere else for my sessions! read more
