Just got another accupuncture session with Simone this one was for a stiff neck and some low back pain lingering from a snowboarding trip this weekend. Discovered this place walking by, $30 price for acupuncture definitely caught my attention (I was used to paying $70+ elsewhere!). Pros: affordability, walk-ins welcome, staff/acupuncturists are super-friendly, relaxing atmosphere. Cons - it is affordable because it is community acupuncture, meaning a group room with multiple chairs, so your zen-time will be affected if you're easily distracted by noises (other patients coming and out, people walking around upstairs on the second floor). Main reason I took a star off because they still seemed to be figuring out how their online booking system and promos worked. But overall a great experience. Update - went in for my second appointment with Maggie, this time we worked on my neck pain. Walked in with a 6/10 on the pain scale, walked out being able to turn my head freely, and 2/10 pain. Theresa Pulickal just did a terrific session with me. I had some twinges in my right knee that had me worried and she was able to thoroughly test and diagnose what the issue was and relieve some of my deeper concerns. She gave me some very specific exercises to do to strengthen the muscle groups in order to avoid future problems. She promptly emailed me the instructions for the exercises and I found it in my inbox when I got home. She did some wonderful massage for my neck and shoulders and explained in detail some corrective measures I could take to relieve some of the pressure in my upper back. I'm giving all of this detail because I think it's important that for those of us who would like to be more involved with our own wellness, that we can find practitioners who are good teachers as well as a good therapists. First, I would like to say that acupuncture WORKS! I have received treatments for hormone balancing and knee pain all at Source Empowered Wellness. My experience with acupuncture for knee pain has been amazing. Occasionally my knee will lock up and I can't bend, straighten or put any weight on it (so painful). I literally came in on crutches one day and after 2-3 sessions I was able to walk without them! The space is very nice and the vibe is relaxing and welcoming. This place is great! It allows people who aren't a part of the elite, rich to get acupuncture treatment regularly. I can't even begin to tell you all the health benefits acupuncture treats, both for injuries and preventative health care. I had pulled muscles around my knee and was in a lot of pain... and was scheduled to hike Everest base camp 2 weeks later. In a panic my friend highly recommended I try acupuncture and told me about Source Empowered Wellness. I saw Jonathan and with a game plan I signed up for a package deal and went as often as I could before the big 2 week hike. I was back walking and was able to complete the 2 week, 18,000 feet elevation hike! I still had to wear a soft knee brace, but I was able to walk without limping. I was limping for about a week before I found SEW. I continue to go now as preventative health care. There are so many little things in the body that western medicine doesn't even consider that Chinese medicine focuses on. It's amazing! This space in particular is an extremely relaxing environment. It's a large room with lounge chairs and a partitioned off section and private room with treatment tables for privacy for those needing needles in parts of the body that are usually clothed. It's clean and all needles are disposed of correctly. The acupuncturists are very calm and make you feel at ease. They are very gentle with the needle insertions and very mindful of your concerns and fears of needles. I had the pleasure of receiving an energy work session with Sylvvari. I can't tell you how long it was: 15 minutes? An hour? I completely zoned out in a very wonderful and powerful way. I was still aware of my body and could feel the energy moving throughout. When I came to, I felt so peaceful, happy, and lighter. It was like a reset that reconnected and realigned me with my body. My first yoga class was about 15 years ago, but I wasn't really intrigued. But it changed since I met Simone. Now yoga is part of my life and I wish I could practice yoga with Simone every day. A few years ago, a friend of mine told me that she found an amazing yoga teacher. She said that her class is fun and her voice is so relaxing. It was just across the street from my place, so I gave it a try. Oh my god. I felt like a feather after her class. I even couldn't do one single push up at that time, but I'm building up my strength through yoga practice with Simone and now I can do chaduranga. You may think it's difficult and painful to build muscle, but actually if you practice with her, it's fun and very enjoyable. She understands human body very well and has passion and love to help others. She adjusts your posture, so you really understands how to do the vinyasa in an effective way. AMAZING!!! I came across Source Empowered Wellness through Groupon a week ago. It took me a few days to book because I wanted to make sure this fit my needs. After reading their webpage and yelp reviews I booked my first appointment with Simone for Wed, 1/13/16 for Acupuncture. I called that same morning 30min before I wanted to come in and had no problem booking my appt. I have been dealing with heavy back pain for over a month now, due to a combination of spinal stenosis, sciatica and herniated disc. I am very happy with the treatment Simone has provided. She is very nice and explained everything very well. I felt soo good after my first treatment, I took two 45min. naps during the day and slept great that night, which I have not done since late Nov. I had another treatment this morning, it is not painful and it is getting rid of my pain and helping me feel better so I can move around and do more, pain free!
