Darius at Hex was the first person I spoke to that gave me any confidence that the laptop could be repaired. I took the laptop to him on Monday afternoon, and he was compassionate, transparent, and very professional in th communicating to me what the timeline and options would be. Hex fixed the computer well enough for me to use an external keyboard the next day and expedited ordering of a replacement laptop keyboard so that I had it back working this afternoon. Very reasonably priced and wonderful service. I could not be more pleased and I highly recommend Hex for your computer repair needs.

The prices here are generally pretty competitive and you will be likely to struggle to find somewhere else that can match both its range of products and prices - I certainly haven't come across such a place. In addition you get very good customer service and the staff know what they are talking about. It's well worth a visit especially if you have any repairs that need doing. It is a running joke between me and my friends that my laptop is still alive...just. For the last 3…read moreyears it has been hanging on by the skin of its teeth. We all have little tricks to sort out quirks, but this got to the stage that I would have to rub it here, poke it there, blow it somewhere else (don't start making up your own jokes) and take out the battery to make it work. When it took about 1hour and 45 minutes to start up, it became a bit ridiculous so instead of letting him go to laptop heaven I called the PC Doctor. Mainly because I was amused by the name, but it seemed appropriate in my case. So in I went and my little laptop was rushed straight to computer ER, with me watching nervously on, like a father worrying for his child. Soon the diagnosis came back, and it was bad. I slowly sat down in shock, not believing the words I was hearing. 'I'm sorry sir, he seems too far gone'. WHY GOD WHYYY??? 'But...' and there it was, my lifeline - the word every man hopes for when his loved one is slipping away from him 'But there is a radical new treatment we could try. DO IT MAN, DO IT!, WHY ARE WE STILL TALKING ABOUT THIS!!! And so it was done, and a few weeks later I turned up with a bouquet of flowers and some grapes to see my bruised and battered little laptop being rolled out on a wheelchair, soon to be in my arms again. And he was fixed. Yaayyy!! Back to reality though, and the PC Doctor, despite his frankly ridiculous name, is really good. He sorted out all the viruses and malware and got it back pretty much as good as new. It is not as good as I first got it and is deteriorating slightly, but to be honest I think that is more down to the fact I download an ungodly amount of music (and that's not an innuendo for porn) than anything else. As with all these companies, the PC Doctor is not too cheap but he will fix pretty much all problems, which is all you can ask for really.

What a world of difference the upgrade has made. After a year of counting beachballs spinning on…read morescreen and literally forgetting what I was doing by the time a programme produced a result, I am now cruising along with tasks taking a fraction of the time and the original pleasure of working with our iMac (2012) returning. All for £250. Instead of replacing at a minimum cost of £1100, we have a like-new machine after paying sweeties by comparison. I always liked the original iMac - it does everything we need - it's solid and functional and doesn't come in pastel ToysRUs colours. Great personal service and a brilliant result. I walked in off the street, not expecting much since I've already been let down so many times, and experienced the greatest customer service and amazing results. The techs here were super friendly and helpful. They knew what was needed and they knew what to do to make it work. They waited while I went to pick up a SIM card and did the unlock and set-up for me - in minutes. As a bonus, the Gevey SIM needed to unlock the phone was half price - a lovely £15 (as opposed to the £40 that Phonebox charges). As far as I'm concerned, this is the only place in Edinburgh to come to for all your unlocking needs.
