Finally a running store east of the River!!! This is the third location that Sound Runner has opened in Connecticut, and after hearing so many wonderful things from my shoreline runner friends about this store I was happy to finally have a location close by. As soon as Mark C and I walked in we were greeted by an plesant employee asking how he could be of assistance. I was not in the market for a new pair of shoes but my husband wanted to try out a pair of Hoka Hoka One's which we were told the Glastonbury location carried. While Mark C was outfitted with not just a pair Hoka Hoka One shoes but several other options, I perused the store for things I "had to have". I was impressed with the location's tastefully lines walls and racks containing variety of men's and women's apparel and accessories as well as anything else you might need to make your run possible such as fuel and lighting. In the end Mark C ended up with a pair of shoes and I ended up with some "must have" items (socks and fuel), but I will definitely be back as the store starts getting the Run Club and Pub Runs underway. read more

I popped in to check out this new running store in town, and I was super psyched. Although the space is small, they do a good job storing carrying everything a runner might need, including various types of water bottles; winter wear; gus, gels, and chews; and even a full wall of Crocs-like sandals. (Ok, I found this latter item a bit unnecessary, if only because there are lots of other types of sandals and flip flops out there.) They have a moderate selection of shoes and various types of attire, including non-chafing underwear. A guy in the store was getting a very in-depth primer on finding the best running shoes, and he even was allowed to take a jog outside before committing to a pair. They appear to have occasional running groups and "tune-ups," and I look forward to checking them out. read more

Mama needed a new pair of shoes. Okay, a new pair of sneakers for my daughter. Went here after trying a couple of different stores that didn't have many options in my daughter's size. As you would expect, this store had a lot of options. The man who helped us was very patient and took a lot of time to help my daughter find a pair of shoes she liked. She even used the treadmill a few times to make sure the shoes were comfortable for running. This place is not cheap, but the service is good and the goods are high quality. Shoes will cost you over $100. They have Darn Tough socks for about $18. Running clothes and accessories too. read more

I went in for some running socks and Tyler, who was very pleasant, helped me select some. He recommended Darn Tough and explained that they keep you cool in warm weather and warm in the cold. The other pair that he recommended were balega that help avoid blisters. I purchased a pair of each. At just under $41 with tax, they are considerable more expensive than other running socks I have, but hopefully they are as magic as they sound:). Sneaker selection seems good and prices reasonable for a place that will analyze your foot strike in the process. I'll be back. read more

I walked into SoundRunner today. Located in Glastonbury,CT. It was busy but not overly crowded and I was made contact with that someone would be with me in a moment. I did not have to wait long at all. Emma took care of me straight away. I had old running shoes with me a another pair I recently bought on Amazon which did not fit right. Both pairs had brought me so much foot pain that I realized I need expert assistance if I was to continue running. Comfort is EVERYTHING and so is having a person who is knowledgeable to get my feet to that happy place. Emma took an aetrex foot scan of my feet and asked me questions, looked at my old worn running shoes and went straight to work to find me the perfect pair. I'd like to note while she was out back searching, I took note of the Soundrunner team. They were all so nice and engaging and EXTREMELY Professional. Friends, they all knew their stuff! They get it! Just like Emma they are all proficient in their work! Everyone should have this experience! Knowledgeable, helpful and friendly thru and thru. Emma came back with a few boxes of the brand I was inquiring about. By the way socks do matter! A good pair of running socks makes all the difference when trying on shoes. Don't bring grippy socks like I did. Once Emma gave me a pair of perfectly fitting socks I could feel the difference in how my shoes fit and felt. So I tried on a few pairs and we discussed what felt good and what I was looking for in each pair I tried on. Then Emma announced she had an idea of a pair that might be what I was looking for. People! She was spot on! I was so happy and relieved! And the shoes are home with me! I am definitely going back! I LOVE SOUNDRUNNER. Great staff, no pushing to make a sale, friendly and engaging and a WILLINGNESS to spend the time with you and find your perfect shoe! The Soundrunner in Glastonbury has a wide range of running shoes to choose from, and some brands that are often hard to find elsewhere, like Newtons. The customer service there is really great. I purchased a pair of running shoes that ended up not working too well after a few runs. I brought them back and the team at Soundrunner was extremely helpful in going over a few other options with me. I exchanged the shoes for a pair that is working out well on my regular runs. I'm a new fan of this store! I've been trying to get back to my running routine and needed new sneakers. I was hoping to bridge the gap from my old brand to something similar. Charlie at Sound Runner, (Glastonbury, CT) spent a great deal of time fitting me into a new pair without any pretense but rather a lot of smart advice. These guys know their stuff! An amazing selection of all types of running gear-- from socks and shoes to blinky lights, headbands, and gels for fueling up! Seriously, they carry many brands of shoes from Nike and Brooks to Hoka and Adidas. I bought a great pair of running shoes after trying on 10 pairs and running outside with 2 pairs. Just what Glastonbury needed! Sound Runner is an excellent addition to Glastonbury! This running shoe store has more than one location in Connecticut and is also associated with Marathon Sports in Shrewsbury Mass. The 5 stars are based on two things, the selection, and the knowledge of the people working in the store! As far as the selection goes, the brands and models of sneakers seem to be endless! If you don't see what you want, or they don't have your size, they will order it and have it at their store within three to five business days. The selection of running attire is by far the best I have seen! They have the latest, most up to date running shirts, pants, layering items, and jackets. Sound Runner also carries many hard to find running accessories such as stretching equipment, running watches, water bottles and belts, blister protection, running lights, and a host of other accessories that runners look for. The staff is excellent and very knowledgeable. They are all runners and understand why you are in the store. There is no pressure to purchase anything. These guys will find the shoe that is right for you based on your mileage, foot stride, and other individual needs.
