Great experience at this SoulCycle! Like their other locations, merchandise is up front by the front desk- while most of the lockers will be in the open waiting area by the studio, there are also some lockers in the hallway connecting the front desk area and the studio. Studio is clean and the fans work well (especially crucial when you're wheezing on the bike and sweating up buckets like I do...! it's very refreshing) read more

The bathroom and studio are super clean, always have towels and soap in the bathrooms. The staff here is so friendly and the instructors are amazing! Love this studio so much :) read more

A nice location, friendly front desk staff, and a motivating workout. I really liked the class with Meghan. She had great energy and made the workout fun. The locker room is clean with a few showers. read more

I've always known SoulCycle for its engaging and high-energy classes, but my experience at this studio was the worst I've ever had. As someone who takes at least three classes a week and has tried multiple studios in NYC, I've never encountered such poor treatment. From the moment I arrived (15 minutes early, as instructed), the front desk staff member, Hanna, was unhelpful, impatient, and dismissive. I had to reset my SoulCycle account, which took longer than expected due to email delays, reset of the account, etc. Instead of assisting, she rolled her eyes and made condescending remarks, even implying if I wanted a better experience I should book directly instead of using ClassPass. (In my prespective, if soulcycle is a partner of classpass should give the same treatment, similiar to any other studio I've tried in the city trough classpass); When I finally got into the dark studio, the class was about to start no one helped me find my bike. Struggling to clip in my shoes (which was especially important due to my recent ankle surgery), I asked Hanna for help--she ignored me and walked out. Frustrated, I left the class and expressed my disappointment, expecting at least an apology. Instead, Hanna bring a lot of attitude and after I asked her name she mocked how I pronounced it, laughed, and was brining up ridc. things like I bumped into her on the room and was flashing my phone in class (which I didn't even have with me). Her attitude was shocking and unacceptable. I left feeling disrespected and appalled. SoulCycle is known for community and inclusivity, but this experience was the complete opposite. I truly hope management takes this seriously--no customer should be treated this way. And for you, i you are thinking about taking a class in this studio, honestly just go to a different one to not risk going trough a similar experience; read more

A great studio w great staff! But not a surprise at all as all Soul studios are incredible. Tried out this one for the first time with a 90min soul challenge ride with Tomas, who was in town from Miami! The studio was clean and the turnaround time for the studio between class was much quicker than it is at other studios! Grabbed a bike on the sidebar and soon enough, we were off. The 90min ride was great, and Tomas played a fabulous playlist: full of Beyoncé, Britney, Lady GaGa, and Ari. He has so much energy and personality, and it was just an incredible class. Even though I was coming from another workout, I never felt too tired because Tomas ket pushing us in the best way. I look forward to coming back to this studio more as it's closer to me than the Noho or SoHo locations which I frequent quite a lot. read more

SoulCycle E54 - Cycling Classes Near Me - New York, New York

It was an interesting experience for my first time at a Soul Cycle. I heard some of the hype and could see the appeal of the place. This was a fairly small location but given where in NYC its located, that was sort of expected. First time being there, there wasn't much assistance from the staff as to what to expect although they were helpful when specifically asked a question. We put on these funky looking and feeling shoes, big plastic buckle of sorts underneath the shoe so be prepared to walk a little wobbly while you wait for the previous class to end. The lockers were nice, fairly clean and have a USB charger inside them to charge your phone while you're in class. Oh, and remember the code you set the locker to as I can easily see how one can forget among the somewhat chaos of your first class. The locker room is very clean and orderly, though very small and only has 2 showers. As the door to the bikes swung open, it was like 1000 people poured out of the room (ok, maybe more like 60-70?), all sweaty and out of breath and its a mad dash for them to get their stuff and out and for others to file in. Bikes are assigned so its not a mad rush for an empty bike, that was a good thing. But being our first time there, we had no idea how to clip the shoe to the pedals of the bike itself. This is so your foot doesn't slip off during the various biking routines. There is a trick to it and you have to apply some pressure kicking forward to latch on and then twisting your foot to detach. There were some helpful staff that pulled in more bikes from storage and had to relocate my bike to make room. I couldn't get my foot off so they had to show me. The class itself is very loud and the instructor mostly performs the same exercise as you for illustration. The audio is very loud on top of the music and you hear mostly muffled instructions but you can follow what the rest of the class does. You will sweat and burn some calories in this mostly cardio workout. There are some small weights which seemed really light at first but given what they ask you to do and the number of reps, they really start to weigh on your shoulders. Overall, I enjoyed the class though the initial experience is a tad intimidating, large because I didn't know what to expect. I hope my review gives any future newbies an idea of the experience. Whether the experience is for everyone really depends on what type of work out you're looking for. I think its a good supplement to a different workout, one with more weights, but again depends on what you're looking to get out of the experience... read more

The class itself was fine, but I would not return to the particular teacher I had today, Samantha. It was Samantha's rude and passive aggressive attitude that ruined the experience. The studio apparently had a no phone policy in the classroom which myself and other people didn't realize. She made a couple passive aggressive comments about the devices going off (lighting up, not making sound), including one she made when my phone lit up. She said, "lot of devices in here tonight, it feels icky." Not only was this comment incredibly rude, but it was also unnecessary. Had she come to me after the class and said hey next time please don't bring in your device, it would be no problem. I didn't realize that phones weren't allowed in but had i known, I wouldn't have brought it. She made me feel singled out and embarrassed, which is not why I attend soul cycle classes. These classes aren't cheap -- 13 classpass credits to be ridiculed by someone who seems to think a flash of light merits public humiliation. It feels judgmental and insensitive. Reading the reviews on classpass, it seems this teacher frequently makes rude comments about phones or devices. Idk why she simply doesn't give reminders in the beginning of the class... read more

As far as SC locations go, there's a bit to be desired here due to its size, but the place and staff has always been great, so 4-stars for ya! Like most locations, there are lockers lining the hallways, two small locker rooms and an area with SC merch in the front. The 'lobby' area is kinda tight, but you're not really coming in to hang out. If you're a first-timer, maybe hit one of the bigger spots so you can get comfortable, but if you're used to the grind you'll do just fine here. Check the sched and head in for a ride! Bonus: close to The Smith for a post-ride cheeseburger read more

After taking a few SC classes, I've decided it's not for me. I'd like to hold on to my hearing for a while more and the music is just so blaring loud that it's unbearable. To top it off, it isn't even good music. It's like the worst music I've ever heard. The instructors have a never-ending energy and my latest one I am pretty sure just skipped off a Broadway stage and put on an acting production here. One minute we were all told we look 'beautiful, perfect'. Yeah, right. A minute later we were shouted at 'why do you all look so uncomfortable? This is the easy part". Easy? Tell that to my ticker. Once again, halfway in, the already deafening rap sounding garbage goes up a level. We're doing hills, pushups on the bars as we pedal. It's crazy hard. I'm pushing my post-baby butt as hard as my sleep-deprived self will let me go without keeling over. And I'm being yelled at! The rap switches to a bearable club music, the room gets dark except for candles, the heat is rising, I think I felt someone's sweat fly on to me and as in other classes I lose all touch with reality and flash back to being at Webster Hall in the 90s expecting to see guys walking around with snakes around their necks. I'm getting into the whole endorphin rush and possibly hallucinating at this point. Let it end, I think...please let it end. But the instructor comes to the back row where I hide out- and luckily doesn't yell at me, just tells me to straighten my form and not quit. I give it 4 stars because it's probably the best cardio workout you can get. I can just do without the drama, shouting and the tiny getting-ready area with 40 screaming, type A woman. (I'm a woman, just not type A). I think this city is getting to me. It's too fierce. The people. The lack of space. And it is all just too close together for me at Soul Cycle. I should probably be pushing a baby jogger along a beach in California, saying namaste in a spacious yoga room sipping some weird herbal tea. But if you like this sort of stuff, then the high $ price per class is worth it. read more

I'm a fan of this location. It was close to my apartment and opened at the end of 2015 so it was brand new when I first went there. I liked the location because the room is not super overwhelming and big. The UES location is very huge and I'm not as big a fan of those rooms. This location has the desk and merchandise and you go down a hallway and there are all the lockers, restrooms, and room. It can be tight when everyone is leaving just because everything is in a concentrated area. Soul Cycle is very expensive so I like to go when the rides are theme rides to certain music. My favorite is Taylor Swift. I always enjoy those rides. read more

First time here at 54th and it was great! Staff was friendly and they even gave me a "welcome pass" to come back a second time. I'm not going to lie; the classes here are hard and the instructor will kick your ass. That and it feels more like a bikram class with all of the sweat and lack of circulation (I saw four fans in there and none of them on! I tried turning on the one near me but with the lights completely out I wasn't sure what I was feeling up)! Music is loud - like club loud (thank goodness for those ear plugs) but it is fun. I like how the instructor did a bunch of different things with weight reps and chest presses and not just have us "ride a bike." I'd like to come back. It's not exactly convenient for me but I can make it work. Would it hurt the patrons to smile?? Oh and I love the USB phone charger inside the lockers - talk about details! read more

I have done cycling/spinning classes at multiple gyms and flywheel. Soulcycle is not my jam because it feels more like going to club then a body shattering experience. With that said I see why the company and the place are so successful from a business perspective. The staff, the place, and class format are very gripping and completely see how they have developed a cult like following. read more

I love soul cycle. I went to the 10:45 class today and the whole 45 min class was Coldplay themed! It was sooo fun and cool at the same time. The bikes are new now at every soul cycle, which are a lot better because they make you put more resistance when exercising. The staff is nice and are always happy to help. The only negative feedback I have is that sometimes it smells bad in the studio. I suggest them putting more spray or something before and after classes. Also the studio is very clean and has restrooms with showers, hair dryers, dry shampoo, etc. it's a pretty complete kind of place in my opinion. Definitely recommend for a fun workout! read more

I love love love soul cycle especially this one. The staff is so incredibly friendly I just want to stop in there on my way to work for a burst of friendly positivity. The place is spotless and the locker layout is great and gives enough space where you don't get the side eye from the girl who doesn't have quite as nice leggings as you!!! Rich is the reason why I come to soul cycle I took the first class he ever taught ten months ago and it really got me in the groove of working out again. He inspires with love and great music and leaves the drill sergeant stuff out of it. Do yourself a favor and take one of Rich's classes!!!! read more

I have enjoyed all the classes I've taken here. Soulcycle is easily my favorite spin facility I've ever tried, and I've tried and continued to look to challenge this spin testament of mine. Consistently a clean facility - the spin studio, the locker rooms, the bathrooms, etc. top of the line products for souler use before and after your ride. Instructors are talented, though they don't knock it out of the park like the SoulCycle Woodbury location instructors do on a very regular basis. The front desk could be a tad bit more personable, but that's only because other locations have taken the time to get to know me. They aren't rude or unpleasant. Just quicker to streamline you. I also come at peak times. Could be my own fault here. Recommend for a tight workout with great music and talented instructors. :) read more

Sometimes do you feel like you've lost your soul? A lot of times life can really take its toll, If that's the case come cycle on 54th street, Here, you'll find the best people you'll ever meet, At most studios as long as the front desk isn't rude that will suffice, But at Soul 54th street they were extremely nice, About their customers, they seem to really care, Now I encourage you to try a SURVIVOR class if you dare, Step into a class and you'll feel the beat, That'll make you go "left/right" with your feet, Your body will magically be filled with a lot of power, The class will feel like 5 minutes, even though it's an hour, I'd be here every day if I lived in NYC, For now, SOUL-less is what I'll have to be. read more

Looking for a great place to break a sweat? Look no further! Soul Cycle has you covered. I came here yesterday for the first time and oh man is it a great workout. I came here for the 5:30pm session with a bike booked through their website. If it is your first time you need to make sure you come 15 minutes early so you can sign a waiver and have them help you set your bike up. The Soul Cycle on 54th offers both men and women's locker rooms. They also have a unisex area where it is just lockers. Their lockers have outlets for chargers so you can get your phones charged while you work out! The workout itself is challenging and great. You will definitely be sweating a lot because the room gets really hot. The trainers play loud and upbeat music throughout your whole session. I love that most of the run is in the dark so you can only focus on yourself. At the end of the 45 minute ride I felt accomplished and drenched in sweat. Overall, I loved my experience at Soul Cycle and could see why they developed such a following. You can definitely catch me back here soon. read more

Had a great 7am class. Arrived a few minutes late and the staff helped me on my bike and with my locker. I've been to many soul cycle studios and this one wasn't as pretentious. Bathrooms were clean- about 5-6 showers and all of the toiletries you need. read more

The community lockers put in the open were a weird experience. But I was able to get 2 lockers, one for my work clothes to hang, which was nice. The showers are adequate: no hot water and barely any water pressure, but the toiletries were amazing. They provide plastic bags for your wet clothes. A woman was able to store her suitcase with the front desk staff. The class itself was typical, with a free weights portion that I had not anticipated. The music was good, not too loud. They did let some people in after the door closed for class, which was annoying and mood interrupting. Prefer the strict spin studios where they lock you on for 45 minutes of darkness and working out, no exceptions. read more

Definitely a good work out but the room is just too hot! I am shocked someone hasn't had a heart attack it really makes no sense and should be addressed ASAP! That having been said like with all spin classes it comes down to the instructor and the music. I only go to Drew's classes he is exceptional otherwise very standard spin experience. 5 stars Drew 2.5 Stars Soul Cycle. read more

I like 54 soul cycle Manager and staffs .. love to spin and like Teachers but not peep who come to spin , I recognized they were acting so big . I don't like raciest peep . I Think They Need more education An knowledge about world peace . I'm still learning by da way . read more

This was my first time at Soul Cycle, little lone a bicycling class. I was completely blown away. Definitely not your typical gym atmosphere, think gym meets spa! From the fresh lemon scented candles to the endless supply of lush bathroom products and towels, I was very impressed. Now after taking the class I can see why they took this approach...you need to be pampered! Most classes run about 45 minutes and if you get there early you can do a warm-up and they do a cool-down stretch afterwards, so really closer to an hour. You have to wear special shoes to get on the bikes, which I learned takes a lot of practice. Probably not the best idea to take your first class in a crunched 1 hour lunch break, but I have no regrets! Think intense dance class but on a bike. The music, packed out room, lighting and instructors make this a workout you'll go all out for. I'm still feeling it 2 days later... My only complaint would be the cost...it's a little expensive at $34 a class. But they do offer memberships...also very pricey. But I guess you really get what you pay for. If you want an intense tour de France workout experience go to Soul Cycle. Your thighs and butt will thank you later! read more

Definitely added to my list of favorite Soul studios in the city! I've been to Ross' class many times in Wburg so decided to check him out at 54th and was not disappointed. It was a smaller crowd than I am used to in Wburg or Chelsea which I honestly LOVED. There was no huge rush before class, everyone was able to get in their bikes properly and Ross interacted with each of us individually. It was great! read more

Always a good workout in soul cycle. Soul cycle is my therapy. Love coming here. Great workout. Staff are so nice. Very clean !!!

Talked into going to a SoulCycle event after literally years of nagging by a coworker and wow what a life changing experience! I attended the 63rd street studio but the 54th Street studio is a tad more convenient to work so I ended up here. I've now been to 3 classes at this location and one flywheel class up in Scarsdale. Really no comparison. First the girls at the desk at SoulCycle are super friendly and very helpful especially to new riders. They constantly check too to make sure the bike is set up properly once in the studio (not the case at flywheel I might note). Second, and though the music is not necessarily something I'd ever listen to ever, Lisa is just amazing for the 7 AM hip hop wake up class! First I just learned today that she's been doing this for 6 years so a definite amount of dedication there but she has a ton of energy, she walks around the studio to check on you and she is just so motivating - even for a procrastinator like me (total opposite for the flywheel instructor I'll again note). I took the $25 first class and the 3 class starter pack for $75 which ends after my next class and then it's $36 which is kinda high but I've already lost 4 pounds in 3 classes and I have a ton of energy when I get to work which is great and I feel extra sharp. Wish I could go to Lisa's class every morning but haven't won lotto yet. Will continue with SoulCycle and Lisa for now though. This is a super studio and an awesome instructor and well worth spending 45 minutes for a great ROI. Men's locker room is kinda swamped after class but good shower and products. Save the $4 and bring your own water. read more

Love this place!!! After 30 plus classes I really enjoy all the instructors. Facility is clean and staff is really helpful and pleasant. It feels like dancing on a bike, energetic loud music in the dark with candlelight; such a fun place to workout. I just go in and out never used the shower facilities. Expensive but I feel it is worth it and since it is a chain I find the studios in Santa Monica and Philadelphia just as great! I do recommend if you continue to go to classes regularly to buy your own shoes although the studio offers everything you may need; shoes, towels, lockers, water, earplugs, hair ties and cute retail! read more

I've been a cycling instructor for over 10 years. I love to take classes anywhere to see what people are doing, and learn. I took a class from Anna and she was inspirational and pleasant. The music was perfectly arranged. I thought it was a great class, but the price for these 45 minute classes are a joke. I know this NYC, and I'm from Detroit... So it is a totally different market, but geez. Also, the lack of integration of technology to monitor your progress or push you harder is a negative. For example, monitor to tell you your rpms or calorie burn like CycleBar does. SC is more of an intimate experience. I've also taken a class at SC at the Loop in Chicago. The instructor there was awesome too. read more

This was my first SoulCycle class. First off, when I walked in, no one showed me where anything was. I just gave my name and they gave me my shoes. I had to find a locker and then try to maneuver to get to the bathroom. People were all over the place changing and they did not even lock the bathroom doors when they were in there. The class was packed and there was no air conditioning on in the room. The candles made it so hot that I could hardly breath. The music was so loud that it was piercing my ear drums. When the class was over and I came out, there were literally about 50 people just waiting to get in the room. I could not find a seat to change my shoes or my clothes. I ran out of there. They seem a little fanatical in this class. I prefer Flywheel...it is so much more laid back. read more

I was always afraid to try Spin because I would hear from people that it was hard but once I started going now it's the only exercise I want to do! in 45 minutes you get such an amazing work out and you're having fun while doing it. I love Soul Cycle and I am a very active rider however this being a new studio with 2 great instructors (Vj and Mabel) I was so disappointed with how rude and discourteous this staff was. Even the assistant manager Amanda should take customer service classes to lead by example of this staff. It is a brand new studio and the shoes reeked of garbage, I saw the way they cleaned them after class and it was not a good thorough way as Noho Studio or Soho Studio that I have seen as well. Its summer time and as a female in the fashion business i usually wear open toe shoes, I was completely shocked when there were no socks available (it's obvious summer time have more socks available for customers). I was told like 10 mins for class " go to duane reade" by the time I did that came back and did not review the new bike set up so had a horrible ride! Not returning to this studio again. First time riders should go to a higher end studio with a more helpful staff. I would recommend Noho Marie's staff is so helpful also try Soho or Bryant park. read more
