One stop shopping... who could ask for more?! A place you can trust. Israel fixed everything my former Pasadena Volvo mechanic never even mentioned, and more! My home burned down in the Altadena wildfires. That night, I and my two cats ended up in West Covina, and my car was making an odd high-pitched whirring noise when I turned on the ignition. I was frantic. My beloved 1989 Volvo was now my only home... all that I owned. I had to get it looked at. I found 2 local mechanics online, and chose to call SOS. Call it women's intuition, if you will. The next morning, Israel responded to the message I'd left the night before, and invited me to come in. His manner was very soothing. I was almost moved to tears, I felt so grateful. Belts needed to be replaced, along with shocks, struts, radiator hose and other mechanical doo-dads. I later had my bushings replaced for a smoother ride, too. I'd had a little bit of cosmetic work that was needed, after an parking lot incident dinged my passenger side and paint. SOS did exemplary body work!!! Finally, I felt my tires should be replaced, due to just age and drying out (I drive very little). Israel ordered those, installed em and balanced my tires for me. When in life, can you go to just one place and get every need met (well, aside from the work I do, that is)?? Yes, this cost me some money, but I now have a solid, road-worthy (collector's item) car that I'll be shipping out of state, once I figure out where in the country (outside of CA) I wanna land. This place is clean, nice and attentive staff and I wanted to give this place a 2nd try on some work for my car. I was quoted an outrageous amount for a new turbo and intake manifold. I knew they had just jumped to conclusions to quick and wanted to by pass any diagnostics or potential easy fixes. I was reluctant and trusted my instinct and had my car towed to another shop. Lone behold turns out it was nothing more than a $150 fix, instead of $4500. The intake manifold just needed to be cleaned and reset. I'm not questioning their work quality, but I definilty question their honesty about what the car really needs. Sorry guys, I tried to give you a 2nd chance. For anyone reading this. I came in looking for two front tires on my car on a Friday and spoke to a gentleman named Israel who consulted me about what would best suit my driving style, we ordered them and he notified me they'd arrive Monday. Come Monday, I called in to be sure they were in before I showed up, they said they'd get there in 40 minutes. Just 15 minutes after they called me and said they'd gotten there. I came in they installed them and had me on my way in no time! Both Daniela and Israel have been professional all three times I've came here now for an oil change, new brakes and two new tires and took very good care of ALL my needs! We own a 2009 VW passat, we used to go to the dealership, but it's so expensive, and after having a bad experience there, we did research and found SOS Automotive, they specialize in Volkswagens, BMW's and Volvo's, but really they can fix any cars. We've had everything from sensors, to a transmission, tires, rotors, oil changes, and list goes on.. all fixed here. Every time Israel has treated us like family, fully explaining what's needed, what we'll need to fix soon and what we can wait on, a truly honest person who cares about his customers. I even took my work van which is a ford, when the window got stuck and wouldn't roll up, and they fixed it! After finding a coupon online I made an appointment for an oil change on my VW. Upon arrival we were created by Israel. He welcomed us into a private office where he got everything started. He then escorted us to a large waiting room with comfortable couches, tv, vending machine etc. Did I mention it was 100 degrees outside and this waiting room had air conditioning pumping nicely?! You have three choices for having your car serviced. You can go with an independent mechanic. Most of the time, patrons will be extremely happy as independents rarely charge as much as dealers and will provide great service. You can go with a dealer, but you will pay more here. Generally the benefit is they are extremely clean and have amenities that independents can't offer due to space limitations. The last and best choice is to find an independent mechanic who is an automotive enthusiast. That is what comprises the staff at SOS. They are all factory certified and love working on cars. Anyone who has been around cars for years will confirm this is indeed a rarity. They will treat you fairly, but most importantly, they will take the time to explain the repairs to you. They will tell you what needs to be replaced and tell you about other items that COULD be replaced. This is in stark contrast to dealers who seem to emphasize that every item is catastrophic and needs to be attended to ASAP. If you know very little about cars, SOS is for you. They will not take advantage of you. They want to build long term relationships with their clients. They appreciate their clients and you can see that based on their waiting area and congenial nature of the staff. I drive over an hour to have car problems taken care of, not because it's convenient, but because I trust them. Give them a try, if you don't like them, you'll still be paying a lot less than the dealer. The absolute best part of the shop is talking with their Master Mechanic Israel. I don't know much about cars and I often feel like auto shops take advantage of that when I leave my car with them by overcharging me for services I don't really need. That being said, the guys at SOS were really helpful, informative, and affordable. Most other places charge $90+ for just a diagnostic and they only charge $40 here which is waved if they service your car. My 2001 Volvo was making this really strange noise that all the car experts in my family were baffled by and SOS found it and fixed it in just a few hours. My car is running like new now. I was personally recommended by the mechanic that worked on my Audi TT because my turbo wasn't sounding the way it should. He knew Israel was the right one for the job. As a woman I think my biggest fear was to go to a shop and be ripped off because I wouldn't know any better however Israel made the process very easy and I would recommend him to my friends and family. What I liked the most is that he tried understanding what I kept hearing coming from my car unlike other mechanics that automatically assume. I've been coming here on the regular, but I recently had a horrible experience. I paid for an oil change, but found out something was off when I got home. I did some inspection and realized they didn't replace the oil and oil filter in my car, there was oil sludge stuck at the bottom. They charged me for an oil change and didn't provide my automobile with the services I paid for, what a joke! I thought this place was trustworthy, I purchased multiple services from them.
