"I'm hungry," I said to my co-worker right after one of our large task of the morning. Being hungry…read moreis nothing new, especially since I proclaim that I'm hungry at least 4 times while I'm at work. "I know this place that sells burritos and they open at 7 AM," he said. "All right... I'm so down," I said whilst dancing my happy dance. When you know you're going to fill your belly, I swear it makes you dance. My co-worker and I drove to this little store called Horizon. We go through 2 doors and BA BAM! Enough cookies, pastries, and donuts to get your sugar rush and possibly give yourself diabetes. Nothing says you're Filipino more than being on the verge of shooting yourself up with glucose (diabetes runs high in the Filipino community from which I am a proud member). My co-worker knew what he wanted and he knows my dietary restrictions (vegetarian and I like California Mexican food) and exclaimed, "You can get the papas con queso burrito... that means potatoes and cheese." "I know what that means! 4 years of Spanish wasn't entirely lost on me," I said jokingly. Maybe 4 years of Spanish was lost on me because I ordered in English... I didn't even have the guts to say 'please' and 'thank you' in Spanish. The woman gave me my burrito, I ran to the company vehicle, took a bite of the $2.50 potatoes and cheese burrito and said to my co-worker, "Don't leave yet, I want another." IT WAS THAT GOOD. Or I was that hungry and the burritos were that cheap. I'm more enamored by the fact that they make their own tortillas but I've been told there are a number of El Paso restaurants that do, in fact, make their own tortillas. I at least know what that means in Spanish - I have to go to more Mexican restaurants.

Best menudo!! You get a 32oz cup with a piece of bread,…read moreonions, crushed pepper and oregano for 5 bucks! I love their bread! I always get an extra piece! It's my favorite thing on Sunday mornings!! You really get your money's worth, but if you're feeding many they also sell the menudo by the pot you bring in your pot and they fill it for you, they put a cups worth it's also a pretty good deal!

Oh gosh. This was the best meal of our five day trip to Las Cruces, NM, Carlsbad, NM and ElPaso,…read moreTX. Sandwich bread is baked in-house along with all of the incredibly fresh pastries we also enjoyed. The cinnamon role had a gorgeous crust that hid a moist inside. Cream cheese frosting was perfection. Chiapas Nutella (neglected to snap a picture) was chocolatey, buttery, and topped with fresh pecans. The cream cake was a strawberry crepe masterpiece...layer upon layer of diced strawberries and an almost-savory cream cheese filling. We were warmly greeted and immediately seduced by the lovely scent of fresh baked pastries. While indoor space is limited with only three tables, covered seating out front provided a nice space. Friendly staff brought our drinks and food out to us. We will return to this lovely place.

I love Arte Sana Bakery. This hidden jewel is not just a bakery; they also sell different breakfast…read moreplates and lunch specials, including a sandwich with pasta salad and green salad (colossal portion and delicious). I have been here several times, and their fresh ingredients and delicious baked goods do not disappoint. I have tried their lunch special, conchas, different baked goods and desserts, coffee, hot tea, and spicy gummies, and today I ordered two small "Rosca de Reyes" for pick up on Kings Day. This small place has a nice music background perfect for working remotely, studying, or simply decompressing from the daily monotony. There is seating inside and outside. Arte Sana offers caring customer service, accepts cash and credit cards, and has a parking area immediately outside its plaza.
