We bought a foreclosure 11 years ago. While we practically stole the house (still can't believe it was in our price range!) it's been a work in progress, restoring it while addressing unfinished work. Turns out the price we paid was fair. After re-roofing the house, we had enough savings left to put a bottom coat on the barely navigable dirt driveway, with the intention to put a top coat on when we'd saved more money. During that time we developed pot holes that became craters, the pieces of which ended up on our lawn when we plowed in the winter. While other paving companies acted like this was something they'd have to seriously upcharge for, Larry took it in stride. I liked him from the minute I met him, he's an old school guy, a dying breed. Larry came within 48 hours of my first call. He was knowledgeable, seemed genuine, and was a true pleasure to talk with. He's a no-BS kind of guy, and you can tell he's good at what he does because it is a *craft* for him. The price he gave us was more than fair, and we signed right away. Within weeks he showed up *as promised* (again, old school and unusual these days) and was communicative throughout. He is very particular when it comes to what is being done, and he was often there, directing his men, sending them back if he felt something wasn't to his standards. And the workers--so polite, friendly when I engaged them, telling me in front of him that they did some extra work at the top of the driveway to make the entrance more impressive. And when it came time for the bill? It was just as we agreed upon, with no surprises. Larry returned several days later to inspect the driveway himself--he didn't send a lackey, he was there making sure it was what HE felt was a job well done. That's an old school guy for you: STANDARDS. He already had his money, but he didn't forget about us. The driveway was completed at the end of May, five months ago, and it has worn well. The initial driveway was installed on August 12, 2019. The job was very well done and I was satisfied with the results. Larry had PROMISD that if I had any problems with the driveway, he guaranteed it for life (his lifetime). In the winter of 2022, we had temperatures go down as low as -10 degrees. IN PREVIOUS YEARS, the driveway held up with no problems. However, in the winter of 2022, the driveway separated from the garage door entrance (cement) and heaved up buy more than 1/2" allowing any snow melt to sneak in under the garage door seals into my garage (luckily, I have drains in my garage). I have at least 10 pictures detailing the problem. Bear this in mind, my new driveway was only 2 1/2 years young! I called him in January and Debbie (his wife) said he would take care of it. I have called and and left messages / spoken to Debbie on 5/18/22, 5/26/22, 7/19/22, and 8/16/22. No return calls and no follow-up even though I was told their would be a possible follow up on July 23rd. The job was done very well but the follow-up is non-existent!! Each time I have talked to his wife, Debbie, who passes on the messages to Larry, she has said "He hasn't forgotten about you and that he'll be coming by soon to fix it". He never has. read more

Sorensen did a fantastic job replacing and repaving my driveway. I had to reschedule a couple times and they were able to adjust to my needs. They showed up on what was one of the hottest days this summer and quickly began to work and kept it up right through the day until complete. I'm currently looking for a paving company for my home. I came across Sorenson paving in my search, and I can't believe they're still in business. They did a driveway for me many years ago (through a landlord who was looking for the cheapest price), and all the other reviews here are correct. They show up for the initial job, but they do TERRIBLE work, low quality material and just lousy workmanship all around. They use less than 2" of sub-par material (should be at least 3) that crumbles almost immediately. I had weeds growing through the driveway within the first few months. Sorenson paving will be cheaper than anyone else, but only because they do a sh*t job that won't last. Stay away and pay more for a quality, reputable contractor. read more

POOR QUALITY, UNRELIABLE Mr. Sorensen told me that his work would last for 10 years, and that he had 20 years without a single complaint to BBB. Within a days of completion, the asphalt began to crumble, and I called him to let him know, but the weather was then cold so it would have to wait until spring. Beginning in the spring, I started calling, all thru the summer, and there was always another excuse, and the driveway continued to crumble. Sometimes he would promise to come, but he never did. His voicemail was often full, so I couldn't leave more messages. In October --- a year after the initial "paving" --- a crew showed up to patch come areas, and I was promised a seal-coat to stop the crumbling,which never came. Now, those patches have eroded, and there cracks have begun to appear to appear. I called again today, April 2017, 18 months after he took my money, and he asked me to call him again on Friday so we could schedule "a time". I asked to schedule that time now, and he insisted I call again. Note that when the previous repair crew came, it had not been scheduled, I was not advised so I could take my car from the garage. ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE experience. I have had a terrible experience with Sorensen Paving in West Boylston. The owner charged me $2,000 and told me that his work would last for 10 years. The day he finished, I noticed rough patches of asphalt and called him. He returned and looked at it and admitted that "it wasn't right" and promised to return to fix it. It is now nearly a year later and he has not returned. Even worse, a few weeks after the job was completed, cracks began to appear. Now there are almost as many cracks in the driveway as there was before Sorenson "paved" it. I have called him on a monthly and sometimes weekly basis to ask him to return. I have approached him in public asking him to please return and fix his work. Each time he has said "I haven't forgotten about you" and that he'll be coming by soon to fix it. Do not hire this company. They are nothing more than gypsy pavers. The thickness of "material" put down is sub-par and they use some type of recycled "material". I had my driveway put in less than 10 years ago and it is already falling apart. However I was truly shocked when I saw the thickness of the "asphalt" that was laid down. Multiple calls were made to Larry to no avail. There are so many other reputable, long standing local companies. Do yourself a favor and look at ANYONE else except for the scam artists. read more
