The unmarked door in a back alley gives secret club vibes, and the underground basement aspect only adds to that. The pressed tin ceiling, antique mirrors, and decor provide an historic and upscale ambiance. The cocktail menu and spirit selection are extensive. We tried some of their original creations and they were balanced and beautifully presented without being fussy or pretentious. The servers were very friendly and attentive, and you could tell they truly liked their jobs. Our server shared some interesting history on the building, the bar, and the decor and furnishings. He also offered some brunch suggestions for the next day. We liked this place so much we returned later. They closed earlier than expected but we were offered the opportunity to order a drink to go, an unexpected but welcome option. This is a classy and upscale bar option in a college town where that isn't the norm.

You order, pay and tip all before being seated. I get this for take out but for dine in it's odd. Then you get your own drinks and refills. There were multiple people around the hostess desk just chatting but you do everything yourself. I would Have tipped more if they actually "waited" on the customers. The restaurant was very nice and the food was great, just wish they offered true wait staff for dine in.

You simply haven't "seen it" until you have sung karaoke in the front room on a Friday night, then visited the "boom boom room" in the back (which actually used to be a theatre). Drinks are as cheap as they can be without being free. There is even a decent selection of craft beer at prices that will shock you (~$3). Bart is the owner and karaoke master. He has every song you would possibly want to sing. Except Taylor Swift's new stuff, but that's because of her :( The bathrooms smell like cat litter. Its character is unsurpassed. There are games for the more active folks (pool, darts, etc) and a patio for when the weather is nice. This is the only legit bar in Columbus (defining "legit bar" as having its primary focus on setting drinking to music), so it's a true mixed crowd. All walks of life. It might not look like much at first, but it really is an excellent bar. You just have to see it for yourself.

A couple of other large parties had the same idea and I was glad we made advance reservations. Staff was attentive throughout. The bread service was a very good Italian type bread loaf slices with olive oil. I would have liked some Italian seasoning to add to it to make it even better. For appetizers my daughter insisted on the Fried Mozzarella Ravioli and I wanted to try the Arancini. Both were excellent! My wife and I decided to split the Seafood Linguini and each got a salad. I chose the Caesar side salad and she wanted the Italian side salad. I was wanting to try their gnocchi but that was the 1 item on the menu the server said that they did not have. (Unfortunately I didn't't find out until after I tried to order and had my mind set on it) There was a good amount of seafood but 1 more shrimp would have made it much easier to split evenly. Even sharing we were full especially knowing we had cake waiting for us back at the condo. Everyone else seemed to enjoy their choices as well. I can see why Taste is the go to choice for my daughter and her husband when they want to celebrate.

We opted for bar seating and had water brought to us while we scanned the expansive drink menu. In addition to the signature cocktails, there is a variety of hard liquor, an amazing amount of whiskey, wine, (both red and white) as well as an impressive draft beer menu. It should be noted that there's a whiskey flight for $20 and you get a 1 ounce pour of each whiskey. It looks like there are seven on offer for this special. We didn't try it so cannot offer any more insights on that. We ordered the January gumbo special"Baby Duck Gumbo" - mine as is with chicken and sausage for $9 ( interestingly with okra which is only ever found in seafood gumbo ... at least in Louisiana) and the other with the addition of shrimp for $5 more. We asked for the saltines to be left off as we don't like to waste food and aren't fans of these old school standards. We split the brisket melt on marbled rye instead of Texas toast and left off the American cheese too... yeah we're *those* people... the sandwich comes with a choice of house seasoned fries or potato chips and we ordered the fries. The order arrived together (sigh). I would have preferred the gumbo to come first, then the sandwich, but hey, my mistake I guess I *should've* said something. Of course, I thought it was common sense that it should come in two courses instead of altogether. ... On a brighter not the order came just as we had requested and was a nice presentation. The gumbo was hearty and had plenty of protein albeit more rice than I would've liked. NOTE: if you are not an okra fan, beware. Both of us are good with okra so it was not a problem, but they do have plenty of okra in this gumbo. My dining partner said to skip the $5 add on of shrimp because although they are plentiful, they lack flavor. The sandwich is a decent size and was very tasty too and we both gave it a thumbs up. The fries were still hot and had a nice subtle flavor. Overall we'd give this roadhouse feeling, zany atmosphered little joint on the corner of Old West Point Rd and University a recommendation. The servers could use a refresher on how to greet guests and checking on them at least once during the meal :/ (1 star deduction) Oh, hey, they also have ample outdoor seating which is pet friendly for well behaved dogs.
