I've eaten here twice; the first time was not great, but wanted to give them a second chance. THEY CHARGE EXTRA FOR SAUCE! They don't have ketchup. They have some (racist?) signs about not allowing bonnets in the store. Went for carry out on a whim for lunch today. Very glad I did! It was a bit of a longer wait than I expected but nothing crazy. Pulled pork sandwich with mix sauce - delicious. Great size. Good heat level without being too spicy. Fries - well seasoned, look hand cut, tasty. Mac and cheese - 10/10. My definition of a perfect BBQ place mac and cheese. Cornbread muffin - awesome. Served piping hot and wrapped in plastic wrap so it stayed nice and moist. Would definitely recommend. read more

We had 3 people in our party. The food took too long to come out for as cold as everything was. Both the brisket and pulled pork were extremely dry and cold. The french fries were over cooked, dry, and cold as well. Would not recommend, unfortunately. read more

Was looking forward to trying this out. Went at 1140 am for lunch. Brisket was still in the smoker, so not available. Instead, Ordered the Beef Polish and asked to replace the fries with the beans and meat as the side. Also ordered water. The Polish came on a hot dog bun with very little sauce already applied. Fries were included even though I asked for the beans and meat instead. No ketchup offered or a available for the fries. The beans and meat were really good ... one of the best sides I've had at a BBQ joint in a while. The Polish was ok. I would have added more sauce, and wish there were sauce options. I tried one of the chicken wings ordered by my lunch partner. They were big and good, but I'm not really a wing fan. Would have been nice to have moist towelettes on the table, but none available. There is a cost for the water, which seems a little over the top. I might go back to give it another try, but found it all to be a bit lacking. The service was great. However I'm going to call the food pig slop. You don't put sauce on the bun it goes on burger for better flavor and to not make bun soggie. The fries weren't fully cooked. The burgers should not have taken 15 minutes to get out being that they were premade pork burgers from a store. The parking lot was horrible I broke my rear window thinking they had a back entry into parking lot. There was no signs saying don't go this way since the parking spaces had you backing out that way. The sauce on the food was mediocre for overpriced pig slop. Even the fact you had to use either an elevator or stairs to get your food was horrible. If I could give them a zero I would. read more

Damn good bbq. I like mild n hot sauce mixed. Sooie fries, slop joe and bbq sauce is good. Not had ribs yet, but brisket or pork as days special is da bomb. Store interior is really nice and friendly. Staff is cool as hell. Only way to make better is to be open during the week, but hell maybe working on weekends is way to keep small batch quality. My experience at this establishment was extremely disappointing. Upon entering, I immediately noticed crumbs and dirt scattered across the tables and floor, despite the absence of any other customers. Unfortunately, the poor first impression was reinforced by the food, which tasted as if it had been reheated in a microwave. The service was equally unsatisfactory--the manager, Isis, was inattentive, focused on her phone throughout the ordering process, and came across as rude. After just one bite of my meal, I was convinced that this restaurant did not meet even basic quality standards. I had high expectations based on a friend's recommendation, but my experience was deeply disappointing. I would caution others against dining here, as the food appeared old and stale. It seems like the 5 star reviews that have been left are from family and friends, and the responses to the lower star reviews is subpar and shows how unprofessional management can be. They do not value the customers opinion, nor their spending dollar. read more

I'm a big BBQ fan so I've been here 5 or 6 times to really give it a fair shake and I have to say I'm pretty disappointed. It's always a little dubious when a BBQ joint, which should always be letting the meat speak for itself, doesn't offer a no-sauce version for anything but the brisket. For the meats: I've tried the brisket, pulled pork, normal and baby back pork ribs, and the half chicken. The brisket, which I've ordered a few times, pork, and chicken have been dry. Given that the brisket is the only meat not cooked in sauce this is especially apparent. The ribs were not as tender as in several other places I've had ribs before. For the sides: I'm not a huge bean or slaw person so I'll skip them. The fries are an enormous disappointment. They are noticeably undercooked and just not very pleasant. They are also coated in the dry rub which was not my favorite but a fair choice. The cornbread was also quite dry. The one bright spot among the sides was the mac and cheese which was truly excellent. As a heads up, the dinners come with fries, beans, and slaw and the sides are not substitutable or upgradable. Additionally, they don't have a-la-cart offerings on the meats. Finally, the prices aren't outrageous but it's certainly no value either especially given the quality. They are new to the location so hopefully they improve as there are already some strong bbq options in town. read more

Went at 1:30 on a Sunday and there were 3 customers inside when I arrived, I then waited for 45 minutes for a pulled pork sandwich that wasn't anything special at all. They also charge $1 for a fountain water and don't advertise that anywhere on the menu. read more

EXQUISITE brisket. The sandwich was very reasonably priced, will definitely try to come again next time we're in town. My husband loved the smoked wings with the teriyaki glaze, and the sweet tea was fantastic as well. Friendly service, quick as well. New BBQ place in town and it's still in its soft opening. This restaurant is casual, cheap BBQ, carry-out only. Meats and sides were what you see in a classic Chicago style takeout place: ribs, tips, polish, brisket, chicken and wings, meals served with bread. The important stuff (the meat) was excellent. We got a half slab rib dinner and a half chicken dinner, both came with sauce already on it and although I usually like it on the side, the sauce was tasty and sweet. The meat was very good and clearly smoked with care. Ribs were just right, juicy and tender but not sloppy or falling off the bone. The sides were lacking but I'm gonna be lenient as this place is new. The meals came with slaw which was super plain, whether you like tangy or sweeter slaw I think you'll be a bit disappointed, beans were great, fries were fresh cut and seasoned well but undercooked for my liking. I'll let a little bit of that slide as it's a new place and they're still sorting things out. Overall I'm happy to see a cheap BBQ carry out option in this town as the rest of them are nearly inedible in my opinion. I look forward to trying new items here and I look forward to seeing this restaurant grow into something even better in the future. Welcome to the neighborhood! read more
