I remember dreading coming here, and their lack of understanding and competence was actually so bad that it put me off going to the dentist for years. That dinosaur of a dentist completely ruined my perspective of maintaining proper dental health. Thankfully I found a modern dental practice in downtown Vancouver which delightfully addressed all of my concerns, and helped me improve my dental health tenfold. I hope Seafair Dental Center closes down for good. What a terrible awful place.

Unlike many dental offices out there, Dr. Kwong is not all about making that extra buck. On a Monday at 11am. Staff and Dentist are very capable, and have kept my teeth healthy for over 30 years. Some staff changes have happened, but the service is still great. Always good care and new equipment. The appointment started on time and ended early. I paid, they submitted the bill to Blue Cross. I have the money back today. No billing surprises.

The office is small and you can hear every thing going on in every room, but I like eavesdropping ;-) When you get your teeth cleaned, they have a TV on the ceiling so you can zone out. I use Dr. Choi and think he's great. I once used the other dentist for an emergency cap replacement and she was also stellar. They worked to squeeze me in quickly which I appreciated. This all changed a few months ago when I finally got a real job. Not only did I find an understanding dentist with Dr. Leung, but I also found a dentist who is personable, efficient but thorough, and has a great team. I have always thought I had good dentists while growing up. My childhood, adolescent and twenties-self had dentists that were, all-in-all, pretty good. However, after going to Fairview Dental, my thoughts of what a dentist office can be have been raised. The equipment and techniques used at Fairview Dental are all state-of-the-art. Cameras that can take pictures and videos of your teeth and be displayed on a giant monitor beside you, digital X-rays that take less than a second, fluoride treatments that actually taste good and take less than 30 seconds, and actual comfy dentist chairs are all things used at Fairview Dental. If you have the environment in mind, you'll be pleased to know that the Fairview Dental Centre uses all biodegradable sterilants and cleaners. To add comfort/enjoyment to the visit, there are tvs installed in the ceiling above that you can watch while being worked on. If you want to try and ignore the fact that you're at the dentist, they can provide noise cancelling headphones and the tv remote to change to any of the several channels of tv or music. Although they offer this luxury, I have never chosen to block out all the things going on, since as limited as it is, I've always had a good time having some conversation or listening to the neat facts given by the dentist and hygienists. One thing that I thought was great was that you can provide your email and phone numbers when you book an appointment. A few days before the appointment, depending on the method you chose, they will either call you or send you an email with a reply button that will let them know that you will be there or need to reschedule. For a person on the go and can forget things, I found the use of an electronic reminder and check in a great thing! To add to everything, the pricing and efficiency of the staff is amazing. I needed some extensive dental work lately which included a scaling, polish, filling, discing, and routine checkup. In an hour and a half all was done, and was cheaper than it has ever cost anyone I've known for a "touch up " on a filling. As a nice service, if you're a regular client and are getting married, Fairview Dental will set up an appointment for you to come in for a polishing a week before the wedding for a free polish so you look all good for your photos. Very cool! I cannot express enough how impressed I am with the friendly and efficient staff, modern techniques, and great pricing the Fairview Dental Centre offers. This is a great dental clinic that I will go to for years to come, even if/when I move out of the Fairview area, since it's just that good.

To really capture my experience with Dr. Charmaine Fong at Aarm Dental I need to provide a little…read morehistory. I'm from Ireland. We all know the reputation those from the British Isles have for dental hygiene; I guess it's because, at least in my experience, the dentists aren't very good. During one visit my dentist dropped out for lunch right in the middle of pulling 2 teeth, and I poured blood; another dentist pulled the wrong tooth for my sister. My twin brother also needed a filling and didn't receive enough anaesthetic and felt the drill boring into his tooth. The point is, I've been traumatized, and I think justifiably so ! Fast forward eighteen years. Yes, eighteen. I'm not proud of that, but what with bad experiences, and the fact that I travelled for years, I haven't been to a dentist in all that time. I finally booked an appointment after seeing favourable reviews for Aarm dental on Hornby as I felt pain in my teeth. I realised Aarm dental was different from that very first call. Jenna, the receptionist, truly listed to me - and even suggested I don't book my first visit on my birthday (which I was going to do) ! When I arrived for my appointment, Dr. Charmaine Fong listened to my concerns regarding dentists, then set about easing them. We spent about an hour or so going over dental history, taking X-rays, pointing out problem areas, etc. She made me feel comfortable, and that she really cared about me as a person and not just a customer. I told her I had a thing about pain, and that I was very nervous. She assured me that I was in good hands. It turned out the "pain" I was feeling was that I needed 6 fillings. We decided that 6 at once would be too much so we booked a second appointment, and started on the first 3. First she froze my gums with a pink mixture that tasted of bubblegum. After waiting about 10 minutes for it to take effect, she gave me a local anaesthetic with a needle. I was really worried about that ! She apologised, then manoeuvred her arm in such a way so I wouldn't see the needle. I honestly didn't feel a thing ! When I did feel some pain (for a split second) in the roof of my mouth, she warned me first and apologized again, after. Again, after a pause to let the drugs get to work, she got the fillings taken care of. After finishing we scheduled for my next visit. Since that first time, I've since been perhaps 4 other times, to complete work, or a cleaning, or a check up. I am so happy I took the plunge ! I've felt guilty about not going for so long, and it was something that was hanging over me. I now have no fear at all about going to the dentist. Dr. Charmaine Fong is an exceptional dentist, and really stressed the importance of maintaining a good dental routine every day with the right tools, and frequent visits to the dentist. I have since recommended her to my friends. My twin brother was even more traumatized than I was about dentists, but left the clinic smiling. I can't believe what I'm about to say - but I'm actually looking forward to my next visit. Thank you Dr. Fong !
