We heard that Sono Kitchen has the best popcorn chicken, really close to the ones in Taiwan. We were a bit skeptical, so of course, we had to try it ourselves. Sono is in Uptown Sedona, and you can't miss it, the sign is huge! Parking can be a little tricky around there, but they do have free parking lots, which is nice. They have both indoor and outdoor seating. Besides the popcorn chicken, their menu has bento boxes, rice and noodles, drinks, and boba. We got the popcorn chicken, Jasmine Green Tea, and Dragon Eyes. The popcorn chicken was amazing, really lived up to the hype. The drinks were okay, and the boba was a little too chewy for us. Turns out they also have locations in Flagstaff and Gilbert, so since we're heading north, we might stop by the Flagstaff one too. The first time I ever came here was probably in the spring of 2023. My sister and I were house hunting and she made a special trip to Sedona. While we were walking around Uptown, we stopped in here and I have gone back a few more times since. My understanding is that this is the original Sono Kitchen & Boba. I like the variety of drinks and snacks they offer. I don't remember if they offer the super size drinks here like they do at the Gilbert location, but this one is definitely smaller on the inside. They do have a few tables and chairs outside when the weather is nice. Prices are average for a boba spot. Employees are quick and friendly as well. They sell cute merch in the store but I wish it had more seats to dine inside. Other than that, Sono Sedona earns a solid 4 stars from me! read more

Very okay quick lunch spot. Fast foody. Portions are hearty, prices are high for what you get, but it's Sedona. We shared a chicken teriyaki bento box. Decent but pretty bland chicken, cold egg roll, good sticky rice minus the layer of seaweed on top and steamed broccoli. Also split an order of potstickers. Well cooked but just out of a bag. Didn't have a smoothie because they contain boba. Just weird to combine the two. Found street parking- first 15 min is free then we paid $2 for an hour We ordered the pop n bo for $19.50 which is their popcorn chicken plus one drink ($1 extra for boba). I ordered the Okinawa milk tea (reg sugar with less ice). Flavor was good and boba was soft and chewy. The popcorn chicken had big chunks of chicken and great flavor. 10/10 for both We also got the golden orange splash (no sugar with popping strawberry boba. I love that there's even bubble tea in Sedona now with the addition of Sono to the area. I couldn't resist the call of the boba so we stopped in and got food and drinks to dine in. The interior has a few small tables to sit at with more seating outside on the patio. You can either order at the touch screen or with the cashier next to the screen. You can customize your sweetness level and sub out toppings with no issues. I got the prickly pear mojito and the basil ginger chicken bowl. Both were made fairly quickly which was perfect since we were all thirsty and hungry! The bubble tea was pretty good. It had a good balance of sweet and tart flavors and the boba had that QQ/chewy quality to it. I also enjoyed the basil chicken bowl which had a good portion of meat/veg to rice. I was pretty surprised to find a Taiwanese spot in Sedona, but happy I did! My group was feeling snack-ish and found this place. The popcorn chicken is legit and the boba did not miss. Quite possibly the worst food and worst boba I have ever had. The person taking the order had such a terrible attitude as well. Ginger chicken didn't even taste like actual chicken. It was super rubbery and there was a random single something that may have been a mushroom or an old piece of chicken or something. The egg roll had just mush inside of it. This cute boba joint is (according to Yelp) the only location in Sedona and about a two minute walk from our Airbnb. We stopped by after dinner and were treated to hefty cups of yummy drinks in cups with adorable cat designs. Who could not love? I got the dragonfruit jasmine tea with boba and even at 50% sugar it was plenty sweet and packed full of tasty bubbles. It still tasted good the next day after refrigeration- maybe even better! Crispy & moist with great salt pepper seasoning. Some of the best we've had outside of Taiwan & MD/VA area. We also got the prickly pear mojito boba. The prickly pear flavor was sweet and refreshing. Not much of the jasmine tea flavor, and I could have used twice as much boba than was given. My only gripe is the prices of everything. Boba is $8.70, the popcorn chicken is $15 (but a decent serving size). Basically double what it costs at home in MD. Fantastic boba has made it to Sedona! I have long avoided Asian food in Sedona--it's typically mediocre at best--but Sono Kitchen & Boba was a pleasant surprise that exceeded my expectations. Sono uses real matcha powder, rather than a syrup, and lets the tea shine in the classic milk tea! The boba is also perfectly chewy. If you want a snack, I highly recommend ordering the boba and popcorn chicken combo. The chicken is flavorful and comes in a pretty large, shareable serving! Sono also has the cuuutest trinkets for sale within the store, from a cat mug to keychains, and their logo is just as adorable. I ordered the prickly pear mojito boba (Sedona seems to advertise lots of items with prickly pear, so when in Sedona). It does not contain any milk so I was confused by it being listed there, but you can see from my photo it is fully tea and no milk of any kind. I was not a fan of the flavor, it was a refreshing drink I can admit to that with a tart bite to it. My friends and I came here after hiking and it definitely hit the spot. We ordered a bunch of stuff! We got got our own bentos and other appetizers for our meal. I got the unagi bento! It came with two large piece of unagi, rice, ocean salad, egg roll and a macaron. The unagi was cooked to perfection and it went well with the rice and ocean salad. The egg roll was nice and crispy, however, I wish it had meat in it. The macaron was light and soft. All the appetizers were freshly made!
