I would give you a receipt but I never was given one on neither of my 2 order. I went to the one in Shelby,NC and it is only one. I got the double sonic burger and you can easily tell one patty had been cooked earlier and was hard and dry. A second fresh patty was put on this sandwich just to make it a double. Well last time we were here, my fiancé and the manager got into it because we waited 30 minutes for them to even acknowledge us. The manager said we can just go if we were going to cause a scene because all we did was let another customer know how long we were waiting. Today, we are still waiting after 20 minutes of sitting. Someone else pulled in 5 mins after us and they acknowledged them before us. All we are trying to do is get freakin ice cream for us and two of the kids. Absolutely horrible service...couldn't tell you what the food tastes like because the first time I rang the bell...no response....the second time I got a hang in....10 minutes after that...gave order to a frustrated woman....and that was it...finally gave up and left 20 minutes later. I know a lot of people have had bad experiences at this location but last night mine was very positive. My family decided to stop here for dinner for a special treat for my daughter. She wanted a corn dog with ketchup, I didn't want her to spill it in my car, so we decided to eat outside. I was hoping the outside ordering system would have been a touch screen, but they've updated some of it. It didn't take long for our food to come out, and everything was correct. Our server was very polite, making sure everything was correct and asked if we needed anything else. Our food was the right temperature and we didn't have any problems. I would definitely go back to this location for a quick bite to eat. read more

I have stoped at this off the path Sonic maybe six or eight times over the last few months while passing through Shelby. A couple of times the drive thru seemed a little slow but no worries because the staff has always been courteous the burgers have always been hot delicious and their sweet tea in crushed ice is spot on. read more

However, Sonic's app deals and the wonderfully greasy classics alongside the in-car dining environment create the perfect hangout for late-night grub runs...not to mention the slushes (treat yourself to a blue coconut ice cream slush; you won't regret it). Sonic has a problem in Shelby. They are definitely understaffed and the food quality is sub par. Got there at 4:26 and did not get our food until 5:05 and the order was all wrong. We got the chili corn dogs and the chili looked like it had been setting out all day long. They now offer chili in a bowl but if that's how it's going to look and taste maybe sonic should rethink that whole idea. We ordered tots but got fries had to send those back. When we got our tots they where nasty and tasted like old grease. I'm thinking it's way past time for a new batch of grease. When the car hop got to the car I asked her what the deal was and she said it was just two of them working. This is unacceptable two people can not handle cooking, taking orders and serving the food. Amongst other duty's of the job. Management should close the doors instead of risking the loss of customers. You just set yourself up for failure. There's something wrong with this Sonic, especially after it closed for renovations and re-management a time or two a few years back and then reopened. The service is always crazy slow. We've waited as long as 30-40 minutes for food before. I hate to say it, but one time we ended up leaving the drive-through since we hadn't paid, because we had somewhere we had to be and ended up just going without eating. This Sonic has been problematic in the past but it closed down last fall at some point for some extensive remodeling. I stopped here last night with a few folks (it seems like they're doing a grand re-opening or something) and the service was much quicker, the fixtures were all new and remodeled, and the milkshake I had was excellent. So we thought it would be fun to take our convertible and sit at Sonic for dinner. Unfortunately our dog didn't cooperate so we had to leave and bring our food home. We ordered three items. A cheeseburger, which was not made as ordered, our shake was fine and the hotdog wasn't in the bag at all. So one of the three items was ok. Plus instead of the requested ketchup and mustard requested for the hotdog we had marinara sauce. Not sure what they thought that would go on. If this is how the reopened Sonic is going to be I imagine they'll be closed again soon or should be. ordered a rt 44 tea and hotdog on the app. it took over 30 minuted for the carhop, tyriq, to bring a menium tea out. He tried to argue that it was actually a rt 44, didn't even bring the hotdog. Finally went back in and came back 5 minutes later with the tea and a cold hotdog. Asked for manager but they refused to come out. tried to call from the phone and they wouldn't even answer the phone. Took the cold dog and tea to the front and the manager still wouldn't come out.
