Always willing to try new fast food, I've always wanted to try Sonic. Living in northern NJ, however, there are no locations near me. Visiting Florida recently though, I was able to stop in this location in Parrish. The positives here were that the tater tots and French fries were good and the Chocolate Oreo Peanut Butter Shake was excellent! The burger, however, just didn't cut it. Bottom line is that I'll go back to Sonic, but probably just for a shake and fries. read more

I haven't been to a Sonic in over 10 years. Road trips make you do crazy things, so we decided to stop here for lunch. You can order and eat in your car, go through the drive thru, go inside to order and eat, or take it outside and eat on one of their picnic tables. Ordering was fast and simple. I visited this establishment on a Friday afternoon after school as my son wanted a specialty drink as a reward for excelling on a test. This is my first time visiting Sonic in possibly 20 years and unfortunately, it will be my last. I wish I had read the reviews before mentioning it to him as I would have gone somewhere else. The reviews are straightforward. There were 3-4 cars in line ahead of me and so we waited a minimum of 10 minutes before placing our order. When we did, it was a challenge for the drive thru attendant to hear me. My 7 year old thought it was funny that I had to keep repeating myself. I asked him if he thought they were just messing about and he said yes maybe. I repeated my order clearly at least 3 times. We ordered two cheeseburgers combos and a cherry limeade. The best part of the order was the ice that I didn't even eat/chew. The tater tots were cold and cooked in old oil. It looked like they were made yesterday and heated in a microwave. The burger was yuck. I had one bite and threw the rest away. My son enjoyed the cherry limeade so that's a positive. Outside of the drink, I can't note any positive takeaways from this experience. Actually hes probably still there because let's face it - what else is he going to get...He was the most unprofessional POS I've ever come across in a paying job. We arrived at 9:00 PM with four children, excited to get ice cream and enjoy a treat together. Instead of a friendly greeting, we were met with an eye-roll and the words: "We finna close the lobby." Trying to give the benefit of the doubt, we kindly asked, "What time does the lobby close?" In the most unprofessional, dismissive tone, she responded: "9:30, but we finna close early." Not only was it completely uncalled for to turn away paying customers 30 minutes before the posted closing time, but the attitude was beyond rude. This wasn't just bad service, it was a flat-out display of laziness and disregard for customers. As we walked out, two other gentlemen attempted to go inside, only to find the doors already locked, further proving they were intentionally closing early, with no care for the customers they were pushing away. When people choose to spend their money somewhere, they expect at the very least basic courtesy and for the business to operate during their advertised hours. We got neither. This location should seriously rethink who they have representing their brand, because tonight was embarrassing for Sonic as a whole. Pathetic. read more

Absolute WORST!!! The listed hours show this location closes at midnight. We placed an online order at 10:53 pm and on the app it said our order would be ready about 10:59. We pulled in and parked in one of the mobile order stalls and checked in on the app with my stall number. It responded and said that someone would be out soon. At 11:20, 21 minutes after our food was due, one of the people in our car went up to the door and saw a sign that we had not noticed before from our position in the lot, saying that only the drive through was open. She walked to the drive thru and was ignored for a few minutes then after banging on the window a woman responded and told her the lobby closed at 10 and we had to pull in to the drive thru window to pick up our food that had been sitting there. So I pulled around and the woman was rude and very dismissive. She told me again that the lobby was closed and I said the app didn't say that, it said they would be out in a few minutes. She shrugged and said "I can't control what the app says". At this point our food had been sitting on the counter waiting to be picked up for 30 minutes. Needless to say it was cold and disgusting. When you arrive you check in and put in the stall number where you are parked so they KNEW we were there. Also, one of the employees came out the door on the side of the building where we were parked, he stood there a few minutes then went back in. When he first walked out he looked at us then turned around and faced the building, almost like he was smoking a cigarette maybe. I KNOW he saw us waiting and he didn't bother to come over and tell us that the lobby was closed. They KNEW we were out there but didn't care and left our food sitting there then acted like they were bothered by us. This is our second visit to this location and it will be our last as both were bad experiences, the last being the worst. I want to again state the lady in the drive thru had a really bad attitude. *As a side note, while we were waiting we discussed that we wouldn't want our kids coming outside to deliver food to vehicles that late at night, so we understand the safety aspect of only having the drive thru open at that hour. Deserves 0 stars but have to give one to make this review. Place is not healthy, I would stay away. Staff is unmotivated, un-uniformed and distracted. Floors are absolutely disgusting, it smells of old food and dirty oil. Ordered a lemonade for my kids and had to return because it tasted moldy. My wife told them to try it themselves and to not serve it because it will literally make someone sick. Doors look like coal miners have been walking in and out without washing their hands. Sonic Management, this restaurant can not get it together for anything good to eat. I gave the Parrish location another chance today. It will absolutely be my last. Corporate, shame on you for not coming to this location and helping guide the employees to put out decent edible food. This use to be a very busy restaurant, and I can see why it is NOT any longer. Today I stopped in for a quick lunch. The hot dog meal. I had planned to eat inside until they brought my meal in a paper bag. I reached in for the fries, but they were hard and not even warm. To eat them I would need dental work. I tossed them in the trash before leaving the restaurant. I took the hot dog & soda home. The hot dog, looked as though they threw the bun on the floor and walked on it first. The hot dog was squished in the paper holder. I had to cut it up with a knife and eat it with a fork! Corporate, your employees HAVE TO KNOW, when fries ate sitting there too long. Throw the dang things out! I live close to this location, sorry, I will NOT be going back. Third update: Ordered a few items via the Sonic App and when I checked in at a stall (kiosk), I ended up waiting 35 to 40 minutes for my order! Something to think of if you are pressed for time, such as work. We ordered 2 slushes, 1 milkshake and a Limeade on the app while parked in the sonic lot. There was only one car in the drive-thru and 1 person in the lobby. After waiting for 15 mins., I had to finally go in and see what the problem. There were 6 employees in there and none of them seemed to know what to do! The customer in the lobby couldn't get someone to take his order! Two people asked me what I had ordered - it took another 8 minutes inside to get 4 drinks! This place is filthy on the inside, the building can't be very old 7 years or less, yet the ceiling tiles in the dining area have been wet from some sort of either roof leak or condensation. The tiles now are sagging, and are full of either mildew or mold or both. The light lenses also have mold growing between the lamp and the lens. The moisture exposure must be continuous because the light fixtures themselves are rusting. The overall order of the dining area is musty. If this is the care that is taken in the guest areas, one can only imagine the kitchen. Manatee County Health Department should inspect this place read more

I have never been to this location and had my order correct on the first try. I don't know if they need to train their order takers or the people in the kitchen, but something has to change. Tonight I ordered two kids cheeseburgers, plain (no toppings). When I saw the order on the screen I verified with the order taker that I wanted they would have cheese on them and he responded "yes, plain means it will be meat, cheese, and bun only." I get home to find that they do NOT have cheese on them. I also ordered a route 44 unsweetened tea. I saw on the screen that it was not route 44. I corrected the order taker and was told he would fix it. Before I could see it, the total came up so I paid and waited. When the order came out it was a medium tea. I told the girl bringing it out it was supposed the be a route 44 and her response was "I just make what's on the screen" and walked away.
