I have come here many, many times, and I have never had a negative experience. Sure, the food is fast food, so it's not always the most amazing quality, but to be honest, I have never not liked the food and it has always been consistent every time I've visited. I have never had to wait a long time for someone to talk to me through the speaker, either. Service has always been pretty good! However, I also have never gone through the drive-thru because no matter who I go with, we always go through the drive-in lanes. My favorite foods here are the tots (you NEED to order these; they are DELICIOUS), the cheddar peppers (jalapeno poppers), and the popcorn chicken. All very good, but the chicken is sometimes overcooked. I've also tried the pretzel dogs here, which are always fresh and good, and the mozz sticks are pretty good, too, with stretchy cheese. Oooooh and you do need to try the slushies because the blue coconut one is awesome (ask for pop rocks). You can get nerds in there, too, but the pop rocks make it so fun to eat! It does what it does very well. Ordering is easy through the app, which I prefer to do rather than trying to absorb the really crowded menu board in the drive-in stalls. It takes the stress out of being visually overloaded with choices! Once we place our app order, we check in to give them our stall number, which is clearly indicated (big number!) on the corner of the screen. Usually our food arrives within five minutes. I'd call that a win! Things we really like here: - Tater tots with American cheese melted on top (this is the only place I've found where I can get this easily, on the regular menu) - Foot long chili dog - Popcorn chicken (I tried this for the first time on our last visit, and I think this is going to be my normal entrée from now on) - Cherry limeade - delicious, with fruit in the bottom. About 3 days ago I went to this Sonic location around an hour before close, I ordered a Philly Cheesesteak, with onion rings, a sweet tea, and a Medium Sonic Blast. The total came out to $18.52, yet when I looked at my bank account yesterday, the transaction stated I spent $37.05, which is exactly double the amount I should have paid. I was in a rush coming from work so I did not notice this dispute, nor did I even receive a receipt with my food. When we arrived it was jam packed. We pushed the red button and about 15 minutes later it was cancelled. We pushed the button again and this time about 3-5 minutes later someone came on the speaker to take our order. After yelling our order into the speaker numerous times, we got the order right. It was surprisingly good, and confusingly bad; I found myself being alternately elated and disappointed. Allow me to explain: -The girl taking my drive-thru order was nearly incomprehensible.....but she was very upbeat and friendly, and even asked how my day was going. -It took a while before I actually received my food, for which they apologized......but they combined my order into a super-combo that saved me $1.50. -They forget the BBQ sauce that I requested.....but gave me an extra jalapeno popper. -And lastly, I found a foot long black hair in my meal box (not touching any food but still, major grodiness).....as well as two coupons inside, good for a free medium-size limeade. All in all, a pretty weird lunch. I like the spicy chicken poppers and the cheesy tots are always tasty. But I just feel like its normal fast food.. They do have a huge verity of food, but the workers get mad when they have to explain or help you with ordering. As for last night, their drive through sign was done... just not there at all! We went to sonic on Saturday and ordered 2 corn dogs, a hot dog, pretzel twist and a coke and tried to use a coupon we received at a Kane County Cougars baseball game. Coupon wasn't expired and coupon said valid at Franklin Park location. The person ringing us up said that the manager will not take the coupon. The manager on duty said she talked to the general manager came out and said we are not taking this coupon. I asked "why not? It saya valid at Franklin Park". Manager replied, we are not taking it. Sonic coupons were handed out at the Kane County Cougar's game the week before. I guess a corporation can send coupons to hand out at a sporting venue for advertising and not honor it at their discretion. This is either fraudulent promotion by Sonic Corporation and these coupons should not be handed out or there is a lack of communication with the store manager on duty and the general manager. I've visited this location on different occasions and had mixed experiences. Sometimes the service is right on point and food arrives in a timely manner. Other times, not so much. One time I went during Happy Hour when it wasn't crowded and ordered a corn dog and a medium cherry limeade. It took 25 minutes for me to get my order. I didn't go to the drive thru I parked and placed my order. The only reason I stayed and waited was because I was in my car checking emails. I could have gone to a sit down restaurant for that type of wait. Maybe it would have been faster if I sent to the drive thru. Another time ordered (in the same manner) a small popcorn chicken and a cherry limeade and my order came out in less than 10 minutes. The food is always hot when you get and the people are usually pleasant. I may go back from time to time but keep in mind its a toss up as to whether you are going to have a long wait or not. read more

I've been to Sonic before out of state so I know how this place works. I went during the grand opening and it was nuts how busy it was. I wanted to just get drive through but the wait was so long, I opted to go to a stall for faster service. It's pretty cool in the stall, you can stay to eat in your car if you want to or just order your food and leave which is what I did to save time. In the stall, you have your own menu and once you're ready to order, you hit the red button and someone takes your order right away. You also have the convenience of paying by credit card right from the stall. A star alone for that. I'm a fan of their Limeaid as well as having breakfast anytime. The food itself is nothing special but, does the trick if you're craving junk food fast. Beware of people in cars not paying attention and flying out of the corner when you're backing out. Overall, this place is fine... but nothing spectacular. read more

Sonic might not the friendly blue hedgehog he used to be... this one time I ate here and I am pretty sure a hedgehog tried to leave my hind quarters within the hour. With that said they do have fantastic Cherry Limeade. The parking lot is simple enough and accessible. Ordering is nearly impossible unless you are in the drive through. Ironically hedgehogs commonly suffer from cardiovascular disease much like the humans who frequent the namesake restaurant. But tonight...tonight is a new record. We stayed (unlike about 30-40 cars that looked at the line and left) just to see how long it would take. We sat three cars behind the microphone for ten (10) minutes waiting for our turn to order. We then waited a full five (5) minutes AT THE MICROPHONE for our order to be taken.
