When going to…read moreand from a one-night campout at Toledo Bend Reservoir, I saw Fausto's Fried Chicken on the west side of the highway. It looked like a choke-and-puke that I enjoy going to: locally owned, very casual, unpretentious, low-priced. It's a 30 minute drive from us, so I suggested it to her, and she said yes. The inside of Fausto's is like what is to be expected from the outside. Enough tables & booths to seat 50, TVs on the wall, plastic plants, old license plates and a Bob's Big Boy sign for decor. It's the kind of place where local celebrity Micah Tyler would feel at home. If you want luxury dining, drive two hours to Houston's Galleria area. For a smidge under $20, we got a thigh & a leg each, she got fries, I got coleslaw, two Cokes. We sat down and got situated - and then someone brought out our dinner one minute later! Now THAT is fast food, and this isn't even a fast food joint. We both enjoyed the chicken. It was hot but not too hot, moist meat, light crunchy skin. Hot sauce bottles are near the drinks, I didn't see them until we were leaving :-( , the chicken would have tasted better with either Tabasco or Texas Pete's. The coleslaw was okay, a little dry. The Hunny wolfed down her fries. Fausto's is a good place to eat, whether for dates, families, sports teams, larger groups, or Micah Tyler. Its casual atmosphere is a good fit for the little Piney Woods town of Buna. It's likely a good fit for you too. Fausto's: making fried chicken great again.

The burgers also used to be a lot bigger too! We used to get three burgers and the family fries for take out, but the last time they were the size of something you'd get from Micky D's. Then one day when I was starving, a friend brought me lunch from Dickey's. I was hooked... No matter what meat or side you choose, you won't be disappointed. They have a special every day, so I have eaten everything they have and love it all. My favorite "go to" is the pulled pork, which comes with one roll, but I get two extra. They have different sauces, so I grab some extra mild sauce on my way out. My secret is cutting the roll in half, load it with pulled pork, drown it in sauce, and eat it like a slider. I make my three sliders and have extra left over! The ribs fall off the bone, the beef melts in your mouth, and the sides... do NOT skip the baked potato casserole! But again, they are ALL so good. They also do large combination orders and catering! If you check their website, you'll see their current combination specials. They cater for holidays, too! You can dine in or take out. They have an app to order online and a system for bringing your cup back in each time for drinks. I often see groups who work together dining in. Someone commented lately about how many paper Dickey's bags I have. My response? Apparently they're just that good!

(well, "silly" didn't rhyme, so if Ogden Nash could mangle words to make them fit his poems, then so can I) Oliver Twist from the crappy musical "Oliver!" would have a good time here. The menu has several selections of sammys for sale, both meat and non-meat. You can also pick out what extras you'd want: mayo, pickles, hot peppers, garlic, or oil (likely not 5W20). Location: On the road to Kountze. Too far to walk there from the high school, but close enough to the hospital. Several fast food restaurants within close distance. Parking lot is only one lane wide, but you should still be able to find parking. Know your limits. There are three sizes: 4 inch Skinny, 8 inch Original, 12 inch Big. The Hunny had a Chicken Club, I had Mama's Meatball. I marked mine down to 3 star because I had multigrain bread, and the strange grain taste overwhelmed everything else, and I've had better meatballs. The Hunny liked hers, and was pleasantly surprised to see bacon in there. For the less important things: Decor didn't really stand out. Service was with a smile. I joked about getting multigrain bread ("can you tell I'm from California?"), and the girl said "so's my boyfriend. He loved this one sandwich shop where he came from, and he said that Potbelly is better!" I doubt that anything can beat Capriotti's, but maybe there are selections at Potbelly that do. I'll need to investigate, heh heh. I ate at Firehouse Subs some time ago, and I think their food is better. I may have just gotten a raw deal at Potbelly this time, or maybe I should get white bread instead. Whatever. Potbelly Sandwich Shop is an option if you're in the area.

I placed a to go order for 3 regular, standard hamburgers and a large order of onion rings. I ordered the burgers with grilled onions instead of standard onions. The onions were grilled nicely. The burgers were pretty good. I don't know if the patties are 4 oz or 6 oz (6 oz might be my guess), but it was a nice meat to bun ratio. Also ordered a large onion rings to go. They were cooked nicely, light batter and lightly fried. Paired well with the burgers I ordered. Don't be misled by my rating of 4 stars. If possible, I would have rated 9 stars out of 10. My only minor drawback was that I felt for the price of a large onion rings, the serving portion could have been a bit larger. Overall, was pleased with my first visit to Tiger Hut. I plan on returning within next 1-2 weeks & ordering burgers again and perhaps this time also trying out a chicken fried steak order to go. The ambience is 'local small town nice'.

My husband asked for a to go drink since he didn't get a refill and Shawn forgot to bring him one. Also the food was too expensive for what you get. We paid over $50 for the food shown in this review. The gumbo was not good, the rice was dry, the potato salad was warm, not cold. The shrimp was overcooked. The only good menu item we tried were the onion rings. I will say that the resturants and bathrooms were clean.
