She understood my concerns and she was super knowledgeable about hair science (things like pH balance, hormones, etc.) She really listened to what I was expressing, and then she gave me the best haircut I have ever had. Ever. She is Sassoon trained and called the cut a Sassoon Bob. NO LAYERS! I will post pictures when I can get to my other device. I highly recommend Sonia and I will definitely return for Part 2, which (I think) includes blending my grays without bleach and continuing to shape my (honestly) gorgeous hair. Sonia really impressed me. I'd been frustrated for years with uneven layers, weird grow-out, and damage I thought no one could fix. It's taken me a while to write this review but now I have the courage to do so. I had an appointment with a different hair stylist at Salon Republic Topanga on March 20, 2025. However that stylist canceled last minute and I was already at the salon. Sonia offered her services and I took it. She was in the middle of moving into Salon Republic Topanga from her salon in Camarillo, so she was a bit frazzled. Sonia started the appointment explaining how her Sassoon training was the best and how her skills made her "a lion while others were sheep." She proceeded to wash my hair in freezing cold water, claiming it was the best for damaged hair. This was honestly the most uncomfortable I've ever been in a hair wash bowl. I was getting brain freeze but it didn't matter to her. During my appointment she was missing a cape (she got one from the receptionist), some products, an extra set of scissors, brushes and a blow dryer. If I had known all these items were missing prior to my hair getting cut I would have not gone through with it. She ended up borrowing a blow dryer from a neighboring hair stylist but it wasn't producing enough air so she stopped using it. I ended up leaving with frizzy damp hair. Sonia charged me $160 and promised to call me back when she was settled into her new salon to finish styling my hair. She never called me to come back or to check on me. I left crying due to the attitude and pressure she put on me. I felt the service and outcome I received did not match the amount I spent. I went to another salon immediately afterwards and they finished blow drying my hair and fixed the unevenness in the back. My self-esteem was lowered that day. I wish she was up front about not being prepared. Instead she just wanted the money from me. Just beware when booking an appointment with her. read more
