Established in 2016.

Welcome to SomDhara, where we offer multiple treatments and products that are nothing less than pure and natural. We are a unique style of providing healing therapies to connect mind, body, and soul on spiritual, emotional, and physical levels. We provide many services like Sivananda Yoga, a time-honored style of yoga that does not only stop at exercise; Reiki, an energy healing treatment that soothes the body on emotional and spiritual levels. We also provide Ayurveda, an ancient form of medicine using herbs and natural treatments. These treatments include Basti (oil-pooling), different massage therapies, Shirodhara (oil-pouring), and many more. We also offer Acupressure, another energy healing, only Acupressure focuses pressure on different points in the body to remove blockages in the energy flow of our life force. We not only provide treatments but many herbs and plant-based products for you to use in your daily life, including healing salves and butters, teas, powders, and more.

Meet the Business Owner: Dhara P.

After working as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist at MSKCC for 9 years I was ready for a change. Despite the latest science and technology being applied to help patients at MSKCC, I saw enough suffering, and to help people I turned to one of the oldest medical sciences on earth - Ayurveda. I am certified as a Clinical Ayurvedic Specialist, and Panchakarma and massage and body therapies. Thereafter, I did my Masters's in Ayurveda. In India, I trained as a Yoga instructor, and also appeared on national television as part of the training. I became a third-degree Reiki master, and I also received training in Acupressure energy point treatment. After returning to the United States, I went through advanced yoga teacher training at Sivananda Yoga, and was awarded the title of "Yoga Acharya" aka "Master of Yoga". I have been applying these complementary therapies for a few years now with satisfactory outcomes in my clients.

The parked is pleasant and offers a lot for those that enter. The new picnic table are very inviting with enough to set a grill and barbeque. The have volleyball, basketball, handball, bike riding and the pool is a sight to see. The have a membership for the pool and guest can accompany the resident of the town. They have a huge parking lot with handicap parking, a museum across the street. The staff are friendly and the speak to you as well. It really is a nice park to visit, oh! and you can people watch if you are into that.

There's also a pool area but I believe it is for Hempstead residents only. There are some baseball fields that are utilized mainly by summer and Little League teams across the street from the pool. There's also a self-pitch batting cage that is open to the public. It's fun if you have someone who can throw straight balls so you can actually hit them. My brother is not one of these people as evidenced by the bruises along my arm, leg, and hip area. I usually only come here to play some pick up basketball but the courts are a bit uneven and when it rains, the water collects easily and leaves puddles all over the place. The only downside about Rath is that it shuts down at sunset, so there is no midnight basketball available for the gym rats. However, I did circumvent this by climbing the fence with a friend and playing some full-court 1-on-1 past 9pm without any night lights. We had to stop every once in a while because there were park keepers and popos driving by but for the most part we were gravy. The other downside that I must mention is that some of the kids in the area are obnoxiously immature and they tend to frequent this park at all times, day or night, so that may hinder the overall fun had depending upon proximity to these little rascals. I don't think there is a solution to that except better parenting but that doesn't seem to be a priority for some in the area.

Deceptively long, but very fair, and better players will score on it. Myself as not a bad player did well for my first look at it. Reachable par fours, but longer than you think par fives and par threes. Greens were much faster than I thought they would be due to the dampness, but they rolled true and there was not much breaks. Overall fun round at a nice private course on LI close to Belmont Racetrack. Stop in, play a round, and head over for the 9th race!

I was always so stressed out and it made it hard to spend time with my family or sleep well. I took a Bliss Therapy with Dhara and after just one session, I felt relaxed in a way I never did before. Not only was I calm and at peace, but my skin was also smooth and soft from the oils and massage. Dhara was also wonderful throughout the whole session. She would ring her bell and chant om which really set the mood. She was respectful and kind. 10/10, would definitely try again and would recommend it to everyone. read more
