I came to this practice on an emergency basis. I called with extreme mouth pain and the most wonderful lady who answered the phone (her name escapes me) had me in the chair within the hour! She also assisted the endodontist. I was so scared and in such pain she literally held my hand! Her kindness and professionalism was really appreciated. I can't say enough nice things about her. The office is so very clean and the Doctor is beyond good. She had me out of pain in minutes. She did what she could and then referred me to an orthodontist. She was great at explaining what was wrong and the best path forward. She was calm, kind professional and the office staff really seemed to work well together. It seemed they genuinely respect each other. Even the person that took my X-rays was so very kind and made sure I was comfortable throughout the scans and X-rays .i would highly recommend this practice! read more

Call me selfish, but sometimes when I have a good experience from using Yelp I don't want to write a review because it might make it a little harder to get treatment or a service in the future because they've become so popular. I'm taking the chance that I won't need a root canal or endodontic procedure anytime soon, so here goes. I'm also reviewing Dr. Horst because she accepts a variety of insurance plans, and it's not always easy to find reputable specialists with my plan. On to the actual review: Dr. Horst is a very knowledgeable, personable and thorough endodontist. The office is clean, staff are professional, and there was no waiting for my appointment. Dr. Horst explained my situation, and I really appreciated that I was given enough information to make the choice as to whether or not to move forward. Overall, a very positive experience. Hopefully I won't need a root canal soon, but if I do, I'll definitely return! One thing - the office is located on a small quiet street in SOMA - it can feel kinda sketchy in the surrounding area, but don't let that dissuade you from making an appointment. :) read more

Cannot recommend soma endodontics enough. Very clean, friendly, walked me through every procedure, high tech tools, and just in general you know you are very well taken care of. read more

I had a root canal performed by Dr. Horst, and the experience was excellent from start to finish. The team is patient, professional, and highly skilled. They have modern technology that makes the process, including anesthesia, pain-free. They also offer Netflix to watch during your treatment, which is a great touch that really helps you relax. I highly recommend SoMa Endodontics for their outstanding patient care. read more

They're great they took care of me for a long overdue root canal, easily explained the procedures and costs, and actually helped service me on the scheduled appointment time (and not make me wait an hour+) read more

Great experience from beginning to end. Even though I didn't end up needing a root canal, Dr. Horst explained why in a clear and understandable way that made perfect sense. Helpful and friendly staff, clean office. Highly recommend! read more

A Pain Free Experience!!!: It was the first pain free root canal that I had! Dr. Orapin Horst is the best endodontist that I ever have had in my opinion and I have had my share during my dental health experiences as an older adult individual. The positives: 1. Painless - I didn't feel a thing due to her High Tech Pain Medication Dripping System, which gives you the proper amount of pain medicine. 2. Dr. Horst explains everything thoroughly to you on the root canal procedure. 3. Also, Dr. Horst did the base layer or foundation layer for my crown procedure after the root canal. My regular dentist said Dr. Horst has artistic dentistry skills because it's the best foundational layer crown that he has seen. To him, it was a masterpiece or a work of art. He said that you are either an artisan of endodontics or not and she is definitely an artisan of endodontics!!! 4. She has the most high tech and spotless endodontics office in San Francisco in my opinion. 5. Responsiveness, I called her on a Saturday and left a voicemail and she called me back that Saturday. The Negatives: 1. If you don't like a spotless mostly all white decor office and patient working area, then you are out of luck. I happen to like a spotless white futuristic decor for an endodontist office because I can tell if it is clean or not. Thanks for reading my review!!! read more

I went to SOMA Endodontics for a root canal. Dr. Horst and her staff demonstrated a high degree of patient care. I got a root canal at a different dentist years ago and it was incredibly painful. I was so traumatized from that experience that when I heard that I needed two more root canals recently, I was extremely stressed out. Dr. Horst performed both of the root canals flawlessly and they were both less painful (but a lot more uncomfortable obviously) than some cavities I took care of the other week. I have always been apprehensive about dentists because I didn't take care of my teeth as a kid and I've only ever had bad insurance and terrible dentists. Dr. Horst made the experience completely COVID safe and as pleasant as a root canal could possibly be. The services were also extremely affordable. The CT Scan was $165 out of pocket which is a good price, and I got a second CT Scan done at no additional cost. Both root canals were $20 each after using my insurance. For the quality of care I received I am immensely happy to have only paid $205. Thank you so much Dr. Horst for being the first good dentist I've ever had :D read more

My dentist referred me to Dr. Horst for a root canal, and I am so thankful that he did! Dr. Horst detected a rare condition affecting the root of one tooth that had no symptoms and did not show in X-rays, but showed up in the CT scan of my teeth that she did. If she had not diagnosed and treated it, I would not have known there was a problem there until the tooth broke off! That was root canal number one. Then there was the toothache I was originally referred for, caused by something I'd never heard of (hyperemia). Again, this does not show up on an X-ray, and I wasn't sure which tooth was hurting. Dr. Horst did some diagnostics, but they were inconclusive, and the CT scan did not reveal any problems, so there was nothing she could do. The course of amoxycillin my dentist had prescribed took away most of the pain for a while, but about 3 months later it was back, so back I went to see Dr. Horst. This time I was pretty sure I knew which tooth was hurting, but she did more diagnostics, and another CT scan. This time the diagnostics yielded better information, and the CT scan showed some deterioration at the very end of the root of one tooth, the same tooth that the diagnostic info pointed to, and it wasn't the tooth I thought was hurting, it was the tooth I never suspected was the problem. Dr. Horst was able to do the root canal that day, and I'm very happy to say that she was right, the pain is gone. I am so grateful to Dr. Horst for her diligence, skill and knowledge that saved one tooth that I would not have even known had a serious problem until it was too late, and in the other case, determined the correct tooth to treat when I didn't know, myself, which tooth had the problem. I am also so appreciative of her patience with me, and explaining things for me. I think that she is just the best! read more

I was very anxious for my first root canal and Dr. Horst and her team did a really great job making sure I was comfortable and had all the information I needed. The procedure was pain free and I felt very well cared for. Dr. Horst also worked with my insurance and the cost was very reasonable. I highly recommend Dr. Horst - she really wants to make sure you have all the info you need and she is an extremely skilled dentist. read more

Cracking a molar is a bummer. However, when making a sound decision of what to do, the best specialist to go to is Dr. Horst because I believe that she is best amongst her peers. First, she took a call from my dentist on a Sunday and set an appointment right away. Her team was very kind and made me feel at home. She did a thorough exam, and explained everything in laymen's terms. And as the determination was that the tooth needs to be pulled, I feel very comfortable with moving forward. read more

I never thought I would be happy to have a root canal, but I'm very glad that I was referred to Dr. Horst. After my toothache progressively got worse and started to swell, Dr. Horst was able to see me within 2 days. She stayed up late to assess my situation over the phone and call in antibiotics and pain meds to a 24h pharmacy (I'm very appreciative for this -- I felt like my situation was escalating, and Dr. Horst calmly assured me things would soon be okay). When I arrived at my appointment, the entire staff was very welcoming. Dr. Horst used a tooth CT scan to pinpoint my exact issue and then began the process of my root canal. I was always told to be afraid of root canals, but this was an absolutely painless experience (even during the application of local anesthesia). Dr. Horst is very thorough and has an excellent bedside manner. She was always checking in with me to make sure I was okay throughout the procedure, as well as several times after the procedure was finalized. I'm very grateful to have been treated by Dr. Horst and her team -- I can't imagine how my experience could have been any better! read more

Excellent performance and service for root canal. Dr Horst and staff very professional. Very clean and modern office and equipment. Finally, much cheaper than the first endodontist on Union Square that I was originally referred to. read more

My experience at Soma Endodontics could not have been better. My visit was driven by a cracked tooth and incredible tooth pain for the prior six days. I was nauseous from the non-stop pain and a bit out of it from lack of sleep. The warm and professional care I received started as soon as I entered the office, which is highly sanitized. Everyone at the practice from the office manager to the doctor listened and explained procedures and outcomes carefully and kindly. The doctor performed a root canal on the cracked tooth and within 24 hours I am finally feeling better. Highly recommend Soma Endodontics! read more

This review for SOMA endodontics is way overdue. I was referred to Dr. Horst after finding out I needed a root canal treatment years following a very embarrassing and traumatic accident to my two front teeth. Scheduling an appointment was so easy. Originally I had scheduled with another office who wanted me to come in for THREE separate visits to get the job done, but SOMA was much more accommodating. I had scheduled a visit one week out, but when the pain started creeping in, they took me in same day. When I arrived at Soma I found parking right away and was extremely impressed with their thoughtfully designed modern office. When I arrived there was no wait time and Dr. Horst and her assistant Carolyn were ready and waiting for me. I explained to both of them that I have severe dental anxiety and was unmediated because I was breastfeeding at the time. They were so accommodating to my needs. I was very emotional because of fear of the procedure and was embarrassed to tell my story of what happened to my teeth, but they were very gentle with me and allowed me to explain what was necessary for them to treat me. Before going ahead with the root canal, they took a specialized xray to confirm that I actually needed the root canal, and I appreciated this second opinion and was pleased that their office was equipped with the technology to confirm this. When they started the procedure I about lost it with panic, Dr. Host and Carolyn assured me that they would spend as much time as they needed with me getting me through it - and they did. I must have left their office at 8:30 at night. Following the procedure I experienced no pain and no side effects, however I did see them for follow up roughly 6 months later during the COVID-19 pandemic. Soma endodontics is clearly taking proper precautions to make their office safe for patients and staff and I felt very comfortable attending the follow up appointment. Overall, I am extremely grateful to Dr. Horst and Carolyn for getting me through a difficult procedure. I highly recommend this office and so thankful that I found them. read more

The experience is 10 out of 10! 1, Schedule appt is super easy. You can communicate with them via phone call, message or email. 2. They take safety precautions seriously during Covid time. They took my temperature. Use plastic covers for all the equipments. They also wear double masks! 3. Dr. Horst is one of the most caring and professional doctors I've seen. She reviewed the problems I might have, discussed the treatment plan with me and wrote a very detailed letter to my general dentist. Love the communication. read more

Great experience getting a root canal with Dr. Horst, she is probably the most genuine and caring doctor that I have ever had the pleasure of working with. The whole process from start to finish was seamless, and the actual root canal itself turned out great. Even though my tooth was all the way in the back and at a bad angle, Dr. Horst made sure I was as comfortable as possible the entire time. Even my normal dentist told me that they always refer patients to Soma Endodontics because Dr. Horst does an exceptional job that goes beyond other endodontist places. read more
