The green curry fried rice and papaya salad was delicious. The service was prompt, and the food fresh.

Thai on Street makes mention on the exterior of the venue that they are Thai 'fine dining' however, they really aren't - and that's probably for the better. It's a cosy, simple venue with some pretty spectacular food. The small restaurant was packed late on a Sunday night while the competitors that surround them where empty - do I bother even writing anymore? We ordered the entree 'basket', which offered one item of each of the entrees - fish cake, money bag, spring roll, curry puff and prawn spring roll. All were delicious but the money bags were a particular standout - I might just order them the next time. For mains we shared a classic Thai beef salad, which - be warned - packs a serious chilli punch! However it was balanced out by the fresh mint and tangy dressing - a really great salad. We finished with a red duck curry, which was served atop a single tealight candle - unnecessary but a gorgeous way of serving the dish! It had some incredible flavour and really hit the spot, however a dash more duck and a splash less liquid would have made it an "I'm ordering this every time" kinda dish. The perfect spot if you're after an easy after-work dinner.

Tried this local restaurant based on the high rating on here…read more The menu is extensive and all sounded good. I went for a dish called Pad Ped Yang from the hot plate section of the menu with a coconut rice. The dish had duck (cooked beautifully) and veggies. There wasn't as much flavour to the dish as I'd hoped but was still enjoyable. Service was quick and friendly. The restaurant itself was very busy for mid week (always a good sign) and I loved the Photos of Thailand on the walls. Loved the sign in the toilet door too (see photo). It made me feel like I was in Thailand again with the poorly translated signs I'll go back to the restaurant and try a fish dish or curry next time I think.

And, most amazing of all, it's rarely crowded. Two reasons. First, it's at the southern end of the strip. Second, it's actually hard to find. I've been coming here for years and I somehow managed to go past it yesterday because it's so subtly located. Now, don't just take my word that it's a great place. Chat to my companion James from last night. He's a magnificent cook. He loves it here. We both almost passed out on tasting the sheer magnificence of the red duck curry. All other dishes were wonderful too. You are in very safe hands here. The food is great. The service is wonderfully friendly. Prices are also fantastic. Bravo.

This place is strongly recommended and I will go back again n again...

Help, I can't stop Yelping about Thai food! This will be my last in a while, I promise…read more Okay, so I'm gong to say it right off the bat: Absolute Thai isn't as good as Ying Thai 1 or 2. Of course. But it's a considerable distance away from both, so let's pretend those other two restaurants don't exist. I dined in at Absolute with a rowdy group of people. No, we weren't drinking Absolute, but quite a lot of wine went down both before and during the meal. The staff tolerated us with humor and an awful lot of patience - I think it took over half an hour for us to figure out what we wanted to order and then we confused the waitress by all shouting things at once. We were terrible customers. After the ordering debacle, the food started to come out fast and steady. The ginger fish, vegetarian green curry and masaman beef were stand-out dishes, each having surprisingly subtle flavours. I didn't really like the pad thai (a bit bland) or the beef salad (not enough chili) but others loved them - each to their own. The restaurant is nothing swish but it's clean and comfortable. For a Saturday night it was quiet - there were only two other tables occupied, but they seemed to be doing a roaring trade in take-away. All up, I'd happily come here again.

We live in the neighborhood, and this place is now my go-to. Ingredients seem fresh and every dish ordered has been flavorful and tasty - never greasy or heavily spicy (unless ordered that way). I'm not really sure about Thai restaurants…read more I've been to a couple of Thai restaurants (including one in Bangkok) but I have never really been all that impressed with them. It is not that I don't like Thailand, or the food, but rather because they don't use chopsticks. I even asked my friend who had spent some time in Thailand whether they use chopsticks to which he replied that they just use the humble fork. When I eat Asian food I like eating it with chopsticks, but then that is just my preference. This was an odd restaurant though because despite it being a Thai restaurant, the wall had a number of paintings of scenes from Greece, and one from Australia. The only reference to Thailand that I could find (with the exception of the name and the food) was a photo of the Floating Market tucked away behind the counter. The food was okay (though I forgot to spice it up) but the one dish that really caught my attention was the one that my friend bought. I can't remember its name but it was a curry with bamboo shoots in it and it reeked. I thought it was just me until a number of other objections also began to float up from the table, so I decided to hold my nose until we ended up leaving.

The service is quick and friendly and since it truly is a hidden gem we've never had to wait for a table. Each dish presents itself well and there is a HUGE menu that should be able to suit anyone's preference. But be warned, even their medium spiced dishes are quite full on and may be too much for anyone not ready and/or willing. One of the other stars of this restaurant are the two sweet older women preparing all of the food in the front of the house. They have thoughtfully created and prepared each dish and it comes across in the satisfying flavor. You can't go wrong with any dish here.
