Lynn Wypych was appointed as my child's GAL, so I had no say in the matter. She was just awful!…read more My child hated her, she screamed at me on several occasions for things completely out of my control, she was consistently rude to my child's therapist, and she neither fought for nor protected my child. My ex refused to agree to anything I wanted for our child and I had to spend thousands of dollars on court orders for things like physical therapy, orthodontia, and surgery to remove a small tumor. She still wouldn't back even temporary medical decision-making for me, choosing instead to make us wait until the custody evaluator's report came out. Then I had to pay for the court orders on top of all of the medical bills, because my ex wouldn't chip in and Lynn didn't think that was important. She called my child a liar, to their face. Then, after doing nothing to help my child and only making the situation worse, she got the judge to order that her fees couldn't be discharged in bankruptcy and came after me HARD for the money I still owed her. I spent six figures in court and will now never retire. My child needed therapy once our case was closed, just to deal with the trauma of having had to work with Lynn Wypych. Don't waste your money -- run to different attorney, and fast!

He was great at first and recommended a solution, and the moment I paid him everything went to hell. What was supposed to take "a few weeks" took 6 months, was done incorrectly, and I had to contact a second attorney to contact him to provide the services I had paid for. He made errors in our wills, he forgot numerous times about meetings with my family to sign documents (wasting two hours round trip driving), gave possibly 15 promises in email regarding when I would have documents, and every one of them were broken. At some point he stated that my documents had been sent but did not receive tracking information.....they are considered "Lost by the post office" to him so God knows if he actually sent them out and someone has my estate planning, or if he just gave me one more BS excuse. I am currently paying someone else to undo some of the work Howard did and correct it. The new practice stated he used cookie cutter templates that did not even speak to IL laws correctly. He is unorganized and has no customer service skills. I wouldn't recommend him for anything.

Predatory Billing: The owner, Robin Becker, originally told me that order of protection cases can…read moreusually be done for $500 or $1000. After paying a retainer of $1000, I heard no mention of money until months later, when I received a call from her secretary, informing me that the charges were now $6000. I later spoke with Robin, who assured me not to worry, that most of the billing was done. I went on a payment plan, and kept up with it, but a few months after that, out of nowhere, Robin informed me that the legal bills must be paid right away, and that the total charges were now $18000. When I told Robin I simply couldn't come up with all that money so quickly, she recommended that I give her my 401(k). I didn't have one, and from the stress of trying to pay her, I wound up in the hospital. Unhappy that I couldn't pay her the large sum of money she wanted, Robin immediately lost interest in the case, and two days before the court hearing, she sent me a one-line email stating that her associate, Steve Peck, would represent me for most of the hearing instead. Steve has all of 3 years of experience, and is an awful litigator--very timid. Additionally, I had never even met him or had a conversation with him, he didn't know the background of the case, and not surprisingly, we lost. Her firm lost completely, it was a total defeat, and then she started to try to charge the rest of her fees, which must be about $25000 by now. When you speak with Robin, she will sound very confident and competent. Do not be fooled--she is a very underhanded businesswoman.
