I was representing my condo's HOA and just needed a lawyer to look at the condo by-laws to see if everything looked good for another owner who wanted to buy part of the basement to build a duplex down. - I paid $1000 on April 19, sent the by-laws - I reached out on May 4th because I hadn't heard back. - May 6th I got a reply asking if I had sent the by-laws then got a reply that they had seen it [assuming this is when they started to do the work] - I reached out on June 5th because I hadn't heard back. - June 5th I got a reply that I'd hear back at the end of the week at the latest - I reached out on June 18th because I hadn't heard back - June 18th got an email reply back of 4 bullet points... [ really is this what I paid for???] -- this wasn't even sent as a doc just an email. I don't hear from them June 18th and then I get an email Nov 5th that I have a late bill -- so someone forgot to email me I had a bill and I have a late charge? No itemized receipt either? What am I being charged for??? The work was fine, it was a very straight forward ask. Customer service was not great. Would not recommend if it was something important. read more

This firm did not pursue a person who violated a divorce decree after that person was supposed to pay maintenance in a divorce and did not pay. Instead they are suing the party that was supposed to receive the maintenance in the first place. Do not recommend!!! Wish they could get NO stars but you must at least give one read more

I used them for two things - selling my business and a simple name change. The attorneys were effective. However, in reviewing the bills I asked for charges to be taken off the bill that I felt were unnecessary - like being charged for the attorney to respond to my question if the hearing was in person or a Zoom . Something else they do is discuss the case amongst themselves and then bill for both attorneys time. This on a simple name change motion. I suggest keeping very good records of your conversations, emails and calls with them and checking your invoices. In each instance, they did reverse the charges I disagreed with. read more

I would strongly advise anyone from ever doing business with this law firm. I have worked in the Schaumburg business community for over 20 years dealing with small lower middle market companies. I made the grave error of hiring this firm to represent me in a family matter at it was simply stated the worst decision I have ever made. I would strong advise any individual considering this firm to find another resource. The service was poor and the managing partner directly told me the partner at his firm that I hired to represent me was the wrong person for the job and recommended I switch to a different lawyer at the same firm. The problem is they had no issue keeping all of the billing the partner I originally hired incurred. My experience with Lavelle law is this, I was charged over $20,000 over a two year period for an accusation against me in a probate case. The case was (back to court, back to court, back to court, back to court) Every explanation they came up with was (in my mind) moving from ridiculous to sheer stupidity. I called a few lawyers to discuss this with. All of them agreed I was being blatantly ripped off. One even said, "Even a first year law student should know this." They kept trying to talk me into settling and giving up $200,000. Then, a judges conference, where both sides meet with the judge separately. I was told " I don't see that you have a case, sir." I found a tremendous lawyer who is dedicated to resolving problems like this fast and efficient. All of the living hell and overwhelming expense I incurred was reversed by the new lawyer in (ready for this?) 2 court dates. They have the opportunity to do the right thing, I won't be holding my breath. My advise to you if you are considering this firm, find yourself a first year law student. You probably won't have to buy him/her a home in Beverly Hills for a free consultation. Be very careful. BTW, Yelp is forcing me to put at least 1 star. I don't agree with this either. read more

I am so disappointed with this firm I actually had to pay for nothing they did nothing and I end up paying more money. I own a business and I had a case that felt it was a simple my Attorney said it was a flat fee he appeared to the first court but he never showed up at the continuance so they ruled against me and end up paying almost double for something that would have been less so I do not recommend this firm they do not return calls and they were never available when I was trying to find out how was my case going. She even went to the hospital, while my mother-in-law was sick, so she could sign documents and keep the closing date they agreed on. She was so attentive to my needs (believe me, we were needy as we were first time home buyers), responded to every one of my (numerous) emails, and answered or responded very quickly to all my phone calls. I hired this law firm to do 3 things for me and not 1 of them was completed before they dropped me!! Yes they withdrew as my attorney in the middle of my case because the $5000 retainer fee was not enough money for them!! Brief summary.... I got divorced January 2017. I continue to go to court every month since my divorce. Since my divorce I have represented myself. Recently things have come up that I needed a lawyer. So I hired this law firm. My atty, Amil, and I got along great. Amil was an amazing attorney. He also knew my financial situation and he knew he would get his additional fees as soon as he helped me get the rest of my settlement from my exhusband. 1 of the 3 things I hired him for. Plus our goal was to go after my exhusband for attorney fees which we actually won with 1 out of the 3 things I hired him for. But right after working on a huge motion for me Amil asked me to drop off an additional $5000 at the office when I came in to sign one of my motions. I didn't have the additional $5000 to "just drop off" so Amil withdrew as my attorney in the middle of my case leaving me helpless!!!!!!!! Then the best part is the attorney fees my exhusband was ordered to pay of mine are no longer my exhusband's responsibility but mine!! Amil needed to come to court for 20 minutes so the judge could ask him a few questions regarding the bill. I told Amil over a month before the court dated that he needed to appear in court or the judge will strike our motion for his attorney fees. Well Amil didn't show up therefore my attorney fees that my ex was responsible for was no longer his responsibility but mine!! This law firm will not recieve another penny from me!!!! They can come after me because I have nothing anymore!! My exhusband depleted everything we had!!!! So I have nothing so they will get nothing!!!!!!!! I don't know how anyone in this law firm sleeps at night knowing what they do to single mothers who need help getting what's rightfully ours from our ex's!!!! This law firm has no heart!!!! Well I just got a threatening letter from them to cease and desist because of a bad review I left against their slimy insurance agent. THE TRUTH. Maybe Mr. McGinn should go grab his law dictionary. If it is the truth it's not slander. I have suffered financial loss and the loss of my job because of state farm and if you don't think customers do not have the right to share their truth on Yelp that is your problem, not mine. I also interviewed with them a while back and you could tell they had no idea what they were doing or what they were looking for and couldn't answer ant questions. I'm not surprised.
