I am the patient Misty R is referring to; unless you assume I'm lying, her not being the patient is irrelevant. Solstice removed my aunt's review after ignoring all her true points in their reply. Both spoke for me because I was so traumatized by how narges & dee treated me that it's taken me these months to recover & reply. I went in for suicidal thoughts/ideations, & a minor attempt. What they taught (mostly via ted eds, not actual teaching) was improving my view on life & myself. But then I had to go to a class about learning from a higher power, & they don't specify which, just any. I could opt out of the class, but then wouldn't get a punch for snacks, tampons, etc., from the shop, so they'd punish me by depriving me of needs/treats. As someone with religious trauma it was upsetting to be forced to attend. A patient w/religious psychosis watched intently beside me & said after her ideas of the rapture had changed. They force patients into uncomfortable scenarios, treating vastly different issues with the same lesson plan & barely different meds. Seizure patients had no access to any real rest after seizures; if they fell asleep during a lesson for even 10 minutes, they were rudely awoken, none of which is why I desperately had to leave. There is a teacher there who is a tall, older white cis man & was openly in the military. He was told prior to his man/woman based lesson that I'm neither of those things. He ignored dee, my case mgr & tried to force me into the group he felt I resembled. I told him I wasn't comfortable & asked to join the other group first instead. He told me no & that I could just leave, so I left AS HE TOLD ME TO DO. This much older taller man then LEFT HIS CLASS ALONE to stand above me in an armchair blocking me in while hovering, gesturing wildly, & berating me for leaving & not participating. I consistently responded with "you did not respect me, so I don't respect you" & he replied "it's not about respect". That continued with him talking over me, though I wasn't yelling, until he gave up & left after saying I didn't respect him, contradicting his earlier statement. Anyone with similar trauma knows that was a terrifying, humiliating, painful experience. I no longer felt safe, & their response to him being physically threatening to me alone in a room after being abused by my father with the same values was to TALK TO HIM AGAIN & put me in his next class. I requested a meeting to discuss LEAVING, but dee told my aunt & mom it was an INTRODUCTORY MEETING to prepare everyone for future meetings. Clearly she would not discuss me leaving despite my inability to sleep after the interaction with the scary man & pleading to leave. Dee stared at me emotionless while using my aunt's name, saying I wouldn't be going home with her that day. She TOLD me that. Every time I asked her "yes or no can I legally leave right now" she wouldn't answer, saying "I've told you all the reasons you're not leaving today" because SHE MADE THE DECISION FOR ME. It was sick. I as a grown adult checked myself in, was treated badly, & wanted to leave to feel safe again; they LIED TO me & ABOUT me to my family, not even checking on my progress until I (after being told that my fear response of having a meltdown & screaming is exactly why I belonged there, calling me crazy for being traumatized & feeling trapped & unsafe) finally screamed until narges caved & told me I can legally walk out the doors since I never signed away my rights & that was always an option. However it's a DEGRADING option with a semi locked door with a loud blaring siren if you touch it, & you have to leave with only the clothes on your back & hope you can call your family at the gas station to get you, then return to get your stuff. When I asked them why I couldn't just check out then if I can leave she (as always, condescendingly) said they were "holding me to my commitments". Narges, I know you're reading this & I know you well remember me, commitments go out the window when you let old men yell at a traumatized suicidal 21yo for being trans. When you abuse people who were abused, they feel unsafe & react. Because I WAS unsafe with you; mentally. I was safer where I was suicidal the first time than where I couldn't even sleep from fear & humiliation for being myself & doing as I was told. But fabricate a reply accusing me of lying, or hide this like you hid my aunts. I know the truth. My whole family does. My whole workplace does. I tell them all exactly who it was that allowed their staff to treat abuse victims like trash for feeling unsafe or having seizures & being tired. I tell them how you talked to me when I was terrified for my safety & sanity in a room with the man who treated me like that. I didn't even mention the primarily healthy people who desperately want out & are trapped there by abusive family & can't leave. It made me sick leaving anyone in that place. read more

Not only does this facility take away free will of the patient, it also uses the family to manipulate the situation to their liking. I watched as my adult family member clearly stated they no longer wanted to be in the facility. They were told several times that this was not an option, and my name was brought in as a weapon against them. I'm wondering how effective treating a patient against their will was supposed to be. They constantly make promises they never keep. This includes respectful requests from the patient to contact their employer. This resulted in termination of employment, due to no call no show. This also includes the condition of the facility itself. Such as cleanliness, occupancy, scheduling, one-on-one attention, and so much more. The experience you receive in the tour is not at all the experience of the patient. They use the same "treatment" for seizure patients,as they do for sobriety issues, or suicide ideation. What?! When you back someone into a corner, and they scream, you do not call them crazy. When a trans patient is in your mental health facility, you do not force them into gender dysphoric situations and call it "real world training". I doubt the same treatment would be effective on the cis patients, were you to force them into alternate gender roles. I find it abysmal that any mental health facility would not be versed on trans issues to begin with. Would you like to read some statistics for suicide rates among trans humans? This facility not only did not help my family member, they further traumatized them and the rest of my family. We have a long road to heal- from a road we tried to take to help our family member in a desperate situation. Please do not take your family here. This is not the solution. read more

As a recent patient that successfully graduated the program here at Solstice Southwest, I can confidently say that I received quality care and treatment for a mood disorder and anxiety. The four stages I went through in treatment at SSW weren't exactly "a breeze," especially when I was stabilizing on medication and working on emotionally regulating my feelings throughout the day. Residential care was probably the most uncomfortable but most important parts of my treatment at Solstice because I had nothing but time to work on my mental health and my new coping skills, such as Mindfulness, Grounding Techniques, CBT exercises, Time Management, and DBT skills. The joy that you will feel though when completing this program at whatever stage it maybe is SO WORTH the temporary discomfort you will face in the long run! I worked with both Case Managers, Sam and Gabe, and they both have your best interest at heart. They not only helped me restore my confidence in myself, but helped me create stronger, healthier relationships with myself, my family and my peers. Narges and her team are truly wonderful people who have a passion for what they do and a caring heart. Disappointing Experience at Solstice Southwest I had high hopes for Solstice Southwest after moving to Texas, given their promise of a new approach to brain health, emotional awareness, physical care, and family resilience. Unfortunately, my experience was deeply disappointing, and I feel compelled to share it. From the start, the intake process was unnecessarily long and complicated, which only added stress rather than alleviating it. This was my first red flag, but I decided to proceed, hoping the care would make up for the initial hassle. It did not. Once I was finally able to access the services, it became clear that their staff were not adequately trained for the sensitive nature of mental health support. The interactions felt cold and mechanical, lacking the empathy and understanding needed to truly support someone's mental health journey. Furthermore, my concerns about my own mental health seemed to be consistently overlooked. It appeared that the priority was on the financial aspects of their service rather than genuinely helping individuals heal and thrive. This left me feeling like just another number, rather than a person struggling with real issues. It's disheartening to see a facility that markets itself on such crucial aspects of health fail to deliver. I would advise others to seek help elsewhere, where their mental and emotional wellbeing will be the priority. read more

The staff from the moment I walked in had been nothing but caring. They have a lot of key players there to help you get through what ever it is that you maybe going through. Of course it was very scary especially those first few nights/week but one of the staffers just really helped me feel safe and comfortable, I knew Ms. Kara would be there if I needed something and my case manager Sam wasn't available. Everyone is giving a case manager that works closely with you, other staff and Brianna who helps to get your medications where they need to be. You have weekly check in for treatment plans, ask you how are things going, if there is anything different that you feel needs to be done. They work on CBT, DBT, coping skills, boundaries just to name a few. Boundaries seemed to be everyone's biggest struggle,they knew what they needed to do but how to make sure they stuck to it was the hard part, so we worked on boundaries a lot. Coping skills really helped me and I found out I am a very tactile person when it comes to bringing me back to reality. Meaning, my shoes need to be off, no socks and touching the ground. I also found out that there was a little it more going on with than I thought when I went in there. It is mainly mental health care, but they do do other care as well. read more

It's not easy to take the steps to bettering yourself. Solstice Southwest equips us with the tools needed if willing to make the changes necessary and be honest with ourselves. It's not all roses and sunshine but I found that at every major challenge I met with enlightenment that helped me grow as a person. KARA is the MVP! She always tells you how it is and doesn't sugar coat nothing. She is always there if you need something. She also has the best kicks on the block! I will say that I believe the way the program is run in certain aspects, there's room for improvement. Particularly in regard to some of the rules designed under a one size fits all system but respectively that's necessary for structure and workflow in a place like this, especially in the early years of operation. I believe that time will serve this facility well going forward. All of the staff at Solstice Southwest have been so very supportive, professional, warm, and caring. We have a loved one receiving mental health care and we are very pleased with the way Solstice is helping. This is a new facility with a concept of mental health care that is new to our state of Texas. The other places in our state are more for critical care but have not been nearly as helpful for long term results. Solstice Southwest has varying levels in their treatment program. My son went to Solstice Southwest from June 9 2025 to August 1 2025. My son has autism and we were encouraged to hear that Solstice offered TMS (Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation). This is a therapy used to treat depression but is known to help people on the autism spectrum as well. Our therapist/administrator was a woman named Kara and she was phenomenal. The therapies lasted around 30 minutes per session ( 5 days per week). Kara would calmly get my son to comply with the treatment and I developed total trust in her patience and compassion for my son. Solstice Southwest is the best place of choice when it comes to mental health rehabilitation and reintegration back in the society. Here patients are treated with respect and dignity. As one of the program Aids, I help in making sure that patients follow through with their programs, have their vitals checked, meals and meds as at when due. Our adult son just spent six months there completing the program.it was difficult when we left him there but he has shown he has learned skills including personal care and coping mechanisms and boundaries among other tools. Care managers Sam and Gabe along with Kyra were awesome! We live far away and they kept us in the loop all the way and were very responsive to any questions or concerns we had.
