The Met Lounge has a very nice, friendly and social atmosphere. This is despite it feeling like an underground party location rather than a mainstream club. My only complaint with the Met Lounge is the floors and surfaces. No matter when you go in (even if you're the first one there) the tables, floors and counters are ALWAYS sticky! Otherwise a pretty decent venue :)

The food is lovely they have a tapas menu which allows you to try many dishes that you would not normally try and if you dont like it you can easily move on to the next one. The music gives you a wide range of choice some nights the small dancing place will be packed with customers dancing the night away to the big bass sounds and other nights jazz is on the menu allowing everyone to tap away at their table to the dulcit tones. The decor is another plus for me its stylish, dark, and romantic a place where you can easily lose track of time and stumble upstairs as its getting light.

We had a long journey ahead of us so booked a table for 3 for 6.30pm and fell through the door at opening time. There's a nice bar and a spacious yet cosy lounge with big sofas and comfy chairs. Lounge and Restaurant was a bit of an off-putting description for me but that's what it is and it was a very pleasant surprise. I had to settle for Black Sheep but it was well kept and there was a good choice of draught lagers. Staff couldn't have been more welcoming, friendly and helpful and we sat with our drinks whilst looking through the menu. The place was cold as the heating had failed, it was sub-zero outside and little more inside. We were told that they were trying to do something about it and after enduring the cold for maybe thirty minutes a battery of electric heaters arrived as friends and family rallied round to keep the show on the road. Food was excellent, fresh and well cooked. My one quibble would be that it was over generous and the huge dishes of chips and salad were overwhelming and so some was wasted. Nevertheless we shall most certainly be back. This local restaurant deserves support and it was really busy by the time we left despite the appalling weather conditions. Letchworth was founded by Ebenezer Howard in 1906, and being a Quaker he forbade alcohol and pubs etc within the city limits. That is not common for Brits - who love their beers and gin and tonics!! So the growth of pubs and licensed premises in the last decade or two has been "refreshing"!! Both Mrs G and I loved this place! On day 1 Mrs G went for a burger which she liked very much indeed, while I opted for the full English breakfast which was excellent! We both had juices (no booze!!) while on day 2 we both took the buttermilk pancakes with bacon and maple syrup. Rare in England and delicious. Service was outstanding, warm and friendly. The whole ambience was wonderful - families, friends, mums and babies groups. Bright, airy, spacious and in the warm weather a beautiful indoor/outdoor experience. Compared to a lot of the pubs I frequent, this one is quite large and open, but it is also a brewery. When you walk in, there are some couches against the wall, but the centre is just open, no tables, no chairs, just a lot of floor space. I wanted to try a couple of their brews, so I had a half pint of the Bishop's Farewell... mostly because of the fantastic name. Didn't enjoy it. On my second go, had a half pint of the Citra, still a lighter beer, but had a slight finish of citrus which was refreshing and helped curb the bitterness.
