I was hesitant to leave an updated review as I have had amazing experiences every time I have come…read morehere up until now. I love the ladies at the front and the facility is clean and has accommodating hours. But the woman that did my most recent ultrasound while she was nice enough, she used incorrect settings which made the results incorrect. Basically, she took images that indicated disease that was not there. I had a repeat US the day following given the results and it was explained to me that the US at WI was done incorrectly. Super scary and disappointing because of my previous experiences.

The CT scan took about 15 minutes total, the tech was very nice. Then came the bill; over $4,000 for the scan with contrast. To put that into perspective that's twice what I paid for an hour long MRI with contrast at another facility. This isn't just higher than average, this is almost double what I would expect to pay for this procedure. FYI if you do a prepayment it's only $500 but I was never told about or offered this option, I only found out about it after I read about it online. After the shock of the bill I called their billing department to ask why it's so high and if there's anyway to reduce the cost since I'll be paying out of pocket to be told that costs are set by the state, which is inherently false. The person on the phone then proceeded to put me on hold for a while before trying to transfer me to their manager for 15 minutes. When the manager didn't pick up, I left a voicemail and was told I would get a call back within 24-48 hours. Four days later and it's still all quiet. So long story short, I'll avoid going to Winchester Imaging in the future so long as their costs are prohibitively expensive. It's worth it to drive the 30 minutes to an hour to get to another facility than pay over twice what you would elsewhere.

Dr. Shopick is an amazing surgeon. He is honest, straight-forward and does excellent work. After my…read moresurgery I was pain free and was able to walk and do things I could not prior to the procedure. I highly recommend Virginia Brain & Spine.

The doctor asked me "Have you ever heard of BMI?" and then told me that my BMI was too high for surgery. He referred me to PT and the "pain management clinic" that they are affiliated with somehow to receive a cortisone shot. He did not offer any medication for the intense nerve pain. I went to my family doctor in tears from the pain several days later, and she prescribed nerve pain meds that have helped me a little. The cortisone shot did not work and after trying to get some kind of help--ANY HELP--with the pain, the Brain and Spine Center cancelled my follow up and referred me back to the pain clinic, dumping me as a patient because my weight makes me "not a surgical candidate." The pain clinic set up an appointment weeks away and seems completely uninterested in the fact that, for the past 5 weeks, I have been unable to walk or stand without pain and can't sleep or function normally. This has been a nightmare experience and this doctor's office has not helped, but made it worse. I ended up driving to Arlington to see a neurosurgeon who has many awards and recognition and who did not mention my weight when discussing my options (which include surgery). I do not consider surgery to remove part of a disc that is pressing on a nerve - when the patient cannot stand or walk normally without intense pain - as ELECTIVE. (see photo) I don't recommend these people AT ALL.

I see lots of bad reviews on the wait time here. Those reviews are 100% accurate. It is not…read moreuncommon for me to end up waiting an hour after my scheduled time. All that being said, my experiences with Dr Henry and PA Valcour have been wonderful. I will definitely vouch for those two. Dr Henry always took time to ask lots of questions and he takes notes on everything you say and genuinely tries to help you with your issues. I have epilepsy and no doctor has ever been able to figure out why I have these seizures. Dr Henry ended up finding a mixture of medicines that has had me seizure-free for years now. Dr Henry has been having an influx of patients, and I have been seeing PA Valcour. I love her and am very pleased that she treats me the same as Dr Henry. I did have a bad experience with Dr Fowler once and I will not see her again. It seemed like I was an inconvenience to her that I was there and I was made to feel stupid for some of the questions that I was asking during my visit. I'm glad I got switched to Dr Henry, because I doubt I would have gone back if I had another experience as I had with her. They use a very neat phone app that you can use to make appointments or keep track of your health records as well as ask your Dr a question. Very useful. In the end, yes, the wait times are ridiculous sometimes. But I am personally willing to put up with that just to see Dr Henry and Ms Valcour because of the care they give me.

The quality of care will now answer to their VH superiors and perhaps get an upgrade to what they've been in the past. Time will tell.
