We as women, especially women of color, have to and should desire to do so much better in the treatment of our fellow women. I visited the River Oaks location for the first time today and was met with a less than pleasant greeting by the intake staff lady. When I shared that I was there for an appointment, her response was Hmmmm. I shared that I typically visit a different location, but that this location is closer. I received no response. Like why else would I be there?!?! She lacked compassion, sensitivity and just plain human kindness. There was more unpleasant, unenthusiastic conversation, so I asked for my ID back and left. She didn't even have the courtesy to say bye. I left wanting to cry because she was a robot...just doing her job, with a less than pleasant disposition, expressing her frustration with the Healthcare I have. However!!!, she was a totally different person to the older Caucasian lady that was there before me who she escorted to the door, smiled, held the door open for, etc... Where was that kind person when it was my turn? Who knew that going in for a mammogram would leave me feeling so discouraged?!?!. I will never go back. I will return to my usual, caring and compassionate location on 610 at Ella. Do better ma'am!!!! read more
