We use Solid Ground Home inspections on a large number of our transactions. They have done both traditional home inspections as well as pre-listing inspections. They are incredibly thorough without "spooking" the clients. They stand by their inspections and are quick to fix any issues that may come up. HIGHLY recommend them for a home inspection!!!! read more

Ron was super professional and really helped with education on the maintenance of the home. He was able to answer questions that I had as a new homeowner which I think is very valuable. He definitely knew what he was doing and he was very prompt and allowed me to see what he was looking for as well as answering questions of whether something was a simple fix or might need some extra warranty in case it did not last. The company was also very prompt which is very much needed in this housing market read more

Steve has 2 completed inspections for us. He is extremely thorough and insightful about not only what are the issues, but also why they occurred. Furthermore, he is obviously highly knowledgeable about a comprehensive range of home construction and maintenance topics. He is congenial and shares information clearly, even on complex and un-common issues. Having used multiple other home inspectors, I would rank him as the best! Erika is a delight to work with for scheduling and payments. Moreover, their rates are the most reasonable in the area! I will use them for home inspections of all my upcoming renovation properties. read more

The buyers hired this company, Solid Ground, to inspect my home. Stephen was the technician that showed up to perform the inspection. I want to start by saying I am a single woman living alone so I always keep my doors and windows locked for my safety. I have a camera in my kitchen and I heard Stephen talking to the buyers about how he has trouble being intimate with his wife because he is overweight and diabetic so he uses Viagra. Which was highly inappropriate and unprofessional and quite frankly gross. He also reported to the buyers that 3 GFI outlets in the kitchen didn't work. I pushed the reset button and they worked fine. He made false statements to the buyers about a contractor's policies regarding foundation monitors causing the buyers unwarranted concerns about the stability of my home. He also said the HVAC system needed to be repaired or replaced. I had an HVAC company inspect it and they said there is nothing wrong with it. These are things that could have jeopardized the sale of my home. The truth is there was nothing wrong with my the outlets foundation or the HVAC system at my house so he seemed to be making things up to make it seem like he was doing a good job. But what really upset me is when six days later I discovered that he had left all of my windows in my bedroom and living room unlocked and the tilt feature was not secured meaning someone could just push them open from the outside and climb in. These windows are all located at the back of the house. It didn't seem accidental. I immediately locked all the windows and changed the door codes. I can't believe I was in danger of someone breaking into my home for 6 days due to his negligence. I called to speak to the owner, Erika, and discovered she was his wife. I told her about the inappropriate comments he had made to the buyers concerning Viagra and she chuckled stating that he says inappropriate things sometimes. I told her about the windows and she said he was probably distracted. I understand that one unlocked window may have been an accident but 5 all on the back of the house and in my bedroom is harder to believe especially if you couple that with the comments he made in my kitchen. She told me her husband was trustworthy and a good man and seemed to be getting angry. I would strongly suggest not using this company. There are other companies that will be more accurate, professional, trustworthy, and not endanger your family's safety by leaving windows unlocked. I don't normally write reviews but I felt like I needed to this time to help protect other families. Erika also sent an extremely long text to me at about 10 pm on 6/14 after reading my review on Google calling my review horrific and demanding that I take it down. It was too long to post here. Again, horrible company, extremely unprofessional, and harassing me for writing a review. Don't call them! read more

Steve was very thorough during the inspection. He pointed out issues that he found as well as maintenance tips to prolong the life of appliances and equipment. Steve also pointed out the "extras" the house had to offer and explained how we would benefit from those extras. Steve also thoroughly explained each non-health and safety related finding and the effects of leaving the issue as is. As if THAT is not enough, Steve also offers to field your questions about issues you run into with your home as long as you own it via telephone, email or an on-site visit when possible to ensure you are maintaining your home properly without "over doing" any repairs (I.e. repair versus replace) as part of his service to you. I will continue to use Steve's company for any home purchases I make in the future in the Charleston area. read more

Solid Ground inspected our home before we closed. They were absolutely professional, courteous, respectful, and helpful. They were very knowledgeable and thorough. The inspection report was provided to us very quickly following the inspection. We were able to get in touch with them following the inspection to ask additional questions and the folks there were really responsive! I definitely recommend doing business with them! read more

Stephen conducted a very thorough home inspection for us in 2020 and still helps advise us on issues that occur years later before we call a contractor for repairs. Our realtor referred to Stephen as 'the water whisperer' as I see why. He is most knowledgable and has amazing technology to detect water. read more

I recently worked with Steve for my home inspection and had a wonderful experience. This is my third time working with Steve and team, and I know it won't be the last. He brought George along, who was also quite knowledgeable. I trust Steve's expertise and will use Solid Ground again in the future. read more

Solid Ground missed that 90% of my crawlspace is rotten and there is a hanging beam in the attic. Its $23,000 to fix the problem. After writing previous reviews they told me to take them down and they would work with me and get there insurance to pay for it. Its been 2 years since I bought the house and nothing. There insurance sent out a claims adjuster and he didn't even fully enter the crawlspace and said "if its that rotten there then the whole crawlspace is going to be rotten." The insurance guy didn't even have to crawl around to know that the crawlspace was gone. Solid Ground has made excuses like it could have been easy overlooked, but it is gross negligence. There is a list of small things they missed, but that can be expected. I don't see how someone misses a rotten crawlspace then makes excuses for there lack of knowledge. The hanging beam in the attic has nothings to support a 17 ft span and they tried to call that crowning. read more
