The buyers hired this company, Solid Ground, to inspect my home. Stephen was the technician that showed up to perform the inspection. I want to start by saying I am a single woman living alone so I always keep my doors and windows locked for my safety. I have a camera in my kitchen and I heard Stephen talking to the buyers about how he has trouble being intimate with his wife because he is overweight and diabetic so he uses Viagra. Which was highly inappropriate and unprofessional and quite frankly gross. He also reported to the buyers that 3 GFI outlets in the kitchen didn't work. I pushed the reset button and they worked fine. He made false statements to the buyers about a contractor's policies regarding foundation monitors causing the buyers unwarranted concerns about the stability of my home. He also said the HVAC system needed to be repaired or replaced. I had an HVAC company inspect it and they said there is nothing wrong with it. These are things that could have jeopardized the sale of my home. The truth is there was nothing wrong with my the outlets foundation or the HVAC system at my house so he seemed to be making things up to make it seem like he was doing a good job. But what really upset me is when six days later I discovered that he had left all of my windows in my bedroom and living room unlocked and the tilt feature was not secured meaning someone could just push them open from the outside and climb in. These windows are all located at the back of the house. It didn't seem accidental. I immediately locked all the windows and changed the door codes. I can't believe I was in danger of someone breaking into my home for 6 days due to his negligence. I called to speak to the owner, Erika, and discovered she was his wife. I told her about the inappropriate comments he had made to the buyers concerning Viagra and she chuckled stating that he says inappropriate things sometimes. I told her about the windows and she said he was probably distracted. I understand that one unlocked window may have been an accident but 5 all on the back of the house and in my bedroom is harder to believe especially if you couple that with the comments he made in my kitchen. She told me her husband was trustworthy and a good man and seemed to be getting angry. I would strongly suggest not using this company. There are other companies that will be more accurate, professional, trustworthy, and not endanger your family's safety by leaving windows unlocked. I don't normally write reviews but I felt like I needed to this time to help protect other families. Erika also sent an extremely long text to me at about 10 pm on 6/14 after reading my review on Google calling my review horrific and demanding that I take it down. It was too long to post here. Steve was very thorough during the inspection. He pointed out issues that he found as well as maintenance tips to prolong the life of appliances and equipment. Steve also pointed out the "extras" the house had to offer and explained how we would benefit from those extras. Steve also thoroughly explained each non-health and safety related finding and the effects of leaving the issue as is. As if THAT is not enough, Steve also offers to field your questions about issues you run into with your home as long as you own it via telephone, email or an on-site visit when possible to ensure you are maintaining your home properly without "over doing" any repairs (I.e. repair versus replace) as part of his service to you. I will continue to use Steve's company for any home purchases I make in the future in the Charleston area. read more

Solid Ground missed that 90% of my crawlspace is rotten and there is a hanging beam in the attic. Its $23,000 to fix the problem. After writing previous reviews they told me to take them down and they would work with me and get there insurance to pay for it. Its been 2 years since I bought the house and nothing. There insurance sent out a claims adjuster and he didn't even fully enter the crawlspace and said "if its that rotten there then the whole crawlspace is going to be rotten." The insurance guy didn't even have to crawl around to know that the crawlspace was gone. Solid Ground has made excuses like it could have been easy overlooked, but it is gross negligence. There is a list of small things they missed, but that can be expected. I don't see how someone misses a rotten crawlspace then makes excuses for there lack of knowledge.
