We had Chris be our lovely DJ for our wedding on 5/24/2026 and I can't be more thrilled with the service. Chris was very detailed in what was needed from us in order to execute and was great at communicating. We had a large mix of songs we wanted which I was worried would be too much for him but he handled it perfectly. His MC skills were top notch and he is a total sweetheart. I can't recommend him enough. Thank you Chris for making such a memorable day so special for us. read more

Solid Gold DJ - Chris made sure we were ALWAYS having fun - DJs Near Me

I was looking for a DJ for an event on 8/26/23 to be held at my home. I found Solid Gold here on Yelp . Not that it necessarily mattered, but part of my decision making process was that he was located in North County. All communication was timely and the quote was within my budget. On the day of the event our DJ Chris showed up early to set up and was ready to go on-time - all he needed was access to electricity, he provided everything else. His music selections were just what was requested and he was very accomodating for providing announcements throughout our event. Solid Gold DJ helped make our event a great success. Thank you. If you are planning a party or any occasion for which you need a DJ for music, we highly recommend "Solid Gold DJ". Our 55+ Homeowners Community recently had such a party for residents who enjoyed dancing to the music from the'40's to the 70's. Chris Bland, owner of Solid Gold DJ, was our DJ. He worked with us developing the program "we" wanted along with selecting the music. He took audience requests, helped with dancing and costume contests, raffle drawings, announcements, etc. He was very professional and flexible by providing the group what "they" wanted. He played the music soft or loud to fit the activities which occurred during the evening. He did his own set up and removal of equipment. We didn't have to do anything. Very enjoyable evening for all. So we highly recommend Chis with" Solid Gold DJ" for any musical entertainment need. Chris can be reached at 619-339-2880. read more

Hired solid gold DJ for my husband's 60th birthday on a yacht in San Diego Bay. Can't say enough about how great he was to work with. Kept the guests dancing all night long. Had all the music we wanted him to play. met all of our requests for different music genres. Very professional. Very pleasant. Even help with our video and assured that it was playing correctly. Thank you thank you thank you!!! You help make a great night even better. read more

We searched around and met with about 5 different DJs for our wedding. We ended up choosing Chris because he had the experience, the professionalism, and a nice price. Chris was great with setting aside time to meet with us a couple times to go over our song list. We had a little different music maybe from some couples in that we wanted a lot of Hawaiian music since we are from Hawaii. We sent him all of our Hawaiian music and he was able to play it during dinner and cocktail hour and it was perfect. We also had a little of a complicated wedding schedule, for example, instead of a first dance I performed a hula for my groom and then we surprised our guests with a hula together. Chris was perfect at executing this surprise for everyone. We also had our guests watch the fireworks outside and he was able to notify people to go watch the fireworks and come back for cake. He has a great announcing voice, he has previous experience in radio so we really enjoyed him as an MC to let people know what was going on. We had a fun little quiz game that he helped pull off that went great. As for the dance floor, well there were people out there dancing that I would never have expected to see dancing!! Some of the guests at our wedding culturally aren't really into dancing during weddings but they were up there having a good time. It was the first time my groom saw his mom dancing and having fun like that! Toward the end of our wedding we had a smaller group but he kept the party going and we all had a great time. He was very responsive to our emails and we were working with him from a distance and so this was greatly appreciated. Chris also provided uplighting at a very reasonable price which gave a beautiful ambiance to our room. He got the color perfectly and the lights were out of the way and I didn't notice a single cord. Overall for the price and the quality of service, Chris is a great wedding DJ! read more

I just got married in July at Sycuan and could have not been more pleased with my experience, everything was just perfect. We had about 100 people at our wedding with varying age ranges, he was able to make sure all of the guests were able to participate in dancing, bouquet toss, gardner toss and other types of activities. Something for everyone. He set up about an hour before the ceremony started and played all our "special" songs just right and on time. I would use Chris again for any other event that would require a DJ, his voice and enthusiasm makes for a great evening. I also saw the "other" post before hiring Chris and never once did I think twice. Sometimes you cant please everybody and sounds like a Bridezilla moment. read more

Chris was a great DJ to work with! PROS flexible schedule willing to meet several times allowed me to provide my own play list (I choose every single song) professional and kind extremely affordable followed my instructions very well CONS (these were really more my fault) didn't play what people requested (he followed my song list a little too closely) our first dance was cut incorrectly (I suggest giving him the cut version yourself rather than explaining it and having him do it) the groom was supposed to have a lapel mic but ended up with a hand held mic which isn't as nice in pictures and kept cutting out during my vows Overall, I loved having Chris as our DJ. He made sure that the dance floor was going all night and was a pleasure to work with. read more

We used Chris for our wedding August 25TH and I can not say enough good things about his services. He was on time, professional, personable (Which is important for a wedding DJ) and kept the party going from start to finish. We had people from another wedding next door dance along with our DJ. He played a variety of song selections from kids to the grandparents and made sure to play the songs that we have specifically asked for. He was a pleasure to work with and if you are looking for a DJ DO NOT look look any further, Chris is your guy! read more

Chris with Solid Gold is awesome. He was in contact with us regularly throughout the last few weeks before the wedding. During our meeting with him and one of his other DJ's he was detailed and asked great questions that prompted me to decide on music for every detail and special moments for the evening. For all the other moments that I didn't know what I wanted he had great suggestions and assured me all would go well. We couldn't be happier with the outcome. He played all our requests and kept the party going all night!!! He played a wide range of music that appealed to everyone but stayed within the range of what we asked for...more importantly, he didn't play anything on our do not play list ; ) He is professional and cares about your experience and you will get what you want! read more

Chris came highly recommended to us for our wedding reception by the event coordinator of Flagship Cruises, Margie Wilson, and he lived up to his stellar reputation. With only one month notice of our wedding date, he was able to plan and deliver fabulous entertainment for our guests at our outdoor venue, i.e. patio area at Il Fornaio in Coronado. Chris coordinated details with our singer to have her music ready to play on his system, he arranged for Father-Daughter dance upon receipt of the song selection the morning of the event, he arrived on time and setup quickly, he played music that had our guests both commenting on the great music during the meal AND the dance portion; we danced everything from the hustle, electric slide, chicken dance, moon walk, disco to cumbias. We had so much fun! One of the brides had four blisters from dancing so much! The thing that most impressed us is how Chris managed to play our music choices when we only submitted our requests two days ahead of the event (he had requested two weeks notice but one of the bride's mothers had serious health situation and we had spent most of the week leading into the wedding at the hospital). Chris helped make a very stressful time easier for us and reassured us that it would be a great event. And it was! We were 100% satisfied with the professionalism, music, and quality of service provided by Chris Bland of Solid Gold. He is fantastic at what he does! read more

Chris did a fantastic job DJing our wedding on 6/25/2016. He played our specific song choices for the ceremony and first dances flawlessly. We let him take the reigns as the night progressed into a dance party. He did a fantastic job of reading the crowd, keeping the dance floor going, honoring our guest's song requests, making announcements and keeping everything on track. If you're looking for a confident, professional DJ with lots of experience for your event, Chris is a great choice. read more

Chris from Solid Gold DJ did a fantastic job as the d.j. at my wedding. He was there early and had everything set up and ready to go 30mins before the ceremony started. His mics worked during the ceremony and during all speeches. He kept to the genre of music that my fiance and I wanted to play. He made the music part of the wedding on less thing to worry about. Thank you again Chris for making my special day sound even better!!! read more

I hired Solid Gold DJ for my daughters 16th birthday party. Chris was great at getting us all set up and Mimi did a fantastic job at the party. I would use them again and would recommend them to any of my friends. Thank you for making my daughters party so fun and memorable. read more

Chris was our wedding DJ and did such an amazing job from beginning to end! Highly recommend!

I would give Chris 15 stars if I could! My Husband (as of 2 days ago!) and I LOVE to dance and we LOVE music (as well as the 80 guests on the boat - our wedding was on the Flagship California Princess) so the music was one of our top priorities. He just killed it. No other way to phrase it. He let me pick out every song ahead of time but also added some of his own (since our list wasn't long enough) and nailed our style and kept the dance party going for hours! It was EXACTLY what we wanted. He was SO easy to work with and helpful keeping things on track. He did the perfect mix of blending some songs and also playing some songs to the full length. It was just perfect. We cannot thank him enough for being SO open and working with us on exactly the style we were going for. It was the BEST night of our lives! Highly recommend! read more

Chris did exactly what we expected for our wedding plus more. He was very aware of what was going on and smooth in the transitions. He allowed my wife and me to relax and have a good time. We had a specific list of songs to play for specific areas in our wedding and he catered to our wants. Prepping for was and will be more difficult than executing the wedding. More-so, with Chris, he was able to provide and assist with excellent support both before and during the wedding for a reasonable price. read more

Our family has contracted Chris for two weddings in two years. While the first (March 2013) he played the role of MC and interim music sets while the band was on break, for the second wedding July 5, 2014 he was front, center and totally responsible for keeping the party going. In both situations, Chris was just awesome. As the mother of two very different brides, I was so appreciative that Chris worked with each of my daughters individually to make their events distinctive from the other. Chris offered suggestions for the timelines that added to the seamless flow of the events and was considerate of the multiple personalities involved in planning a wedding. Upon initial contact, Chris was responsive and provided the contract immediately. Sadly, the father of the groom passed away midway through the planning of the second wedding and Chris was able to graciously adjust a time change for which we were very appreciative. Along with the interpersonal skills that make Chris so great to work with, he is a professional with attention to the important issues such as music selection and equipment quality. As far as music goes, Chris had something for everyone to get them on to the dance floor. The range of music selection was quite extensive giving lots of choices. Along with the variety of music, the auditory and visual quality of the equipment was top notch. The clarity of sound at the right decibels for the size of the venue is important, especially when there is a wide range of guests to accommodate as well as another event going on next door. I couldn't help but notice how much more fun our group was having with our guests dancing all evening until it was time to leave...and even then they didn't want to go. I would hire Chris again...and we will hire him for wedding number 3, but that will have to wait until 2016. In the meantime, I highly recommend Chris/SOLID GOLD DJ; you will not be disappointed!! read more

I got married a couple weekends ago (9/22/12) in Bonita and could not have been more pleased with the job that Chris did. From the first meeting to the very last song I couldn't have asked for more. Chris helped us along the way. If we needed song ideas for any of the wedding activities (garter toss, bouquet toss etc) he was an email away and always quick to get back to us. We had quite a list of songs we did not want played and Chris was sure not to play any of them at the wedding when guest requested them, he simple let them know that I asked them not to be played and that I would need to come let him know should I change my mind about a song. It made me feel great that he respected our wishes enough to let the guest know that I didn't want it so he wasn't playing it. If we ever have another event that needs a DJ, I would without question use Chris and Solid Gold again. read more

Chris with Solid Gold did an excellent job as DJ of our wedding. The performance and execution of the set list the day of was perfect and his announcements were clear and on time. What was really important to my wife and I was his ability to make us feel confident that he would be able to perform to our specifications and produce the correct sequence of music. Although we presented to Chris enough music for 3 weddings, he knew how to be selective and entertaining. Thank you Chris! read more

Going with Solid Gold DJ for our wedding ceremony and reception was an excellent decision. My wife and I were looking for a DJ that had experienced with all types of music and was good with the mic. Our first meeting with Chris went well, we were giving a detailed itinerary of what we would expect. We gave Chris a detailed list of what we wanted for our ceremony and it went smoothly. For the reception we also gave Chris a detailed list of music for introductions of the flower girl, ring bearer, bridesmaids, groomsmen, father/daughter dance, Mother/son dance, grand entrance and our first dance. Chris did an excellent mix for our first dance, we gave him four songs with completely different genres (Frank Sinatra, Bachata, Electronic Trival dance and Banda) and he delivered. We also requested some latin music throughout the evening and Chris did an excellent job at working in those latin songs at the precise moment. We had an exceptional experience with Chris, he knew what he was doing, he kept the reception moving forward, he was accommodating with everything, he is very good at reading the crowd and has pleasant voice and excellent mic skills, we definitely would recommend him for weddings or any other event. read more

Chris has a group of DJ's in his company from what I understand and upon first meeting him, he guaranteed that he would personally DJ at my wedding. I appreciated his professionalism. I hit a hiccup when my venue coordinator was expecting paperwork from the DJ but he hadn't turned it in. I tried my best to make it clear in my communications with him about what was needed. We got everything sorted out, but I would have liked to be put at ease a little earlier than a few days before my wedding. He showed up promptly on the day of the big event and was STELLAR. I really liked his work on the day of the wedding. He played all of my requests at the perfect moments and even helped me incorporate a special dance performance. Thanks Chris! read more

I highly recommend Chris and Solid Gold! We have hired him two years in a row for an end-of-the-year celebration for a group of 50+ college students. Both years he has communicated promptly and professionally, been flexible with dates and times (even accommodating some last-minute changes for us this year), been on time, all equipment working, and played the perfect mix of background music during the dinner and fun music to get a tough crowd out of their comfort zones and having fun on the dance floor! Chris really knows how to mediate a great time for all involved. He quickly gets to know the group and skillfully draws the fun out of the group. I have been very impressed both years - both with his skill, character, professionalism, and generosity. He is a true professional and expert in his field. read more
