My dental hygienist on the first visit was Eunice, and she was extremely professional and very thorough. Made me feel at ease. Dr. Becker was in to talk to me about the chip I had in my crown and how to replace it. The costs were laid out and the strength of the crown was talked about. I was very pleased. The second visit to have the crown removed and a temporary replacement put in was also great. The replacement was fitted and feels completely like a regular tooth -- no rough edges at all. Elizabeth handled much of the sizing and finishing of the replacement crown and was incredibly good and highly qualified. I couldn't be happier with Sumter Dental Care, and have complete faith in their professionalism and patient care.

Candidate #1 was out of the office for 2 weeks at a conference, candidate #2 thought that waiting for 2 1/2 weeks for an "Emergency Visit" (his words, not mine) was reasonable. Candidate #3, Kathie Allen, listened to my dilemma and graciously agreed to see me right away. I found her, and her assistant, to be professional, knowledgeable, friendly and caring. She did a full assessment, with X-rays, and removed my molar with minor discomfort (NO pain). Thanks to both of them, I will be sleeping soundly tonight for the first time in over a week. But that is not the case, she requires a separate "evaluation" and a second appointment for a cleaning. The dentist tried to tell me it is state law, which it is not - I checked, two separate appointments are not required. Luckily, I found a dentist who would do both the exam and the cleaning in one appointment. I hate to give a bad rating but don't lie to me.

All while being required to ask patients for money they don't owe (due to poor record-keeping), apologizing for scheduling errors, and trying to placate patients who have been waiting for an hour or more to be seen. The practice in North Port is owned by Dr. Dixon, who also owns multiple Aspen practices in the area. He's incompetent as an administrator and shows a complete lack of concern for his patients. Twice now I've had dental procedures/surgeries and had to wait a long time to be seen get in, despite having had nothing to eat or drink for over 8 hours. The first time I waited over 2 hours; the second time was about 45 minutes. The dentists never checked in with me afterwards to see how I was doing. After running into some very painful problems after the first surgery, Dr. Dixon was out of town and I finally got an appointment with another Aspen dentist in a different office. He took a quick look, told me there wasn't any infection, but didn't do anything to find out what was causing the pain. A week later bone shards started poking out of the incision--clearly the cause of my pain. I know bone shards can occur after oral surgery, but these were not tiny and I had 7 ones work their way out. This is medical incompetence--that's too many shards, evident by the fact that no one even thought of that being the cause of my pain. After my second surgery I received no aftercare instructions, and when I called several days later due to extreme pain and swelling the dentist called in a script for more pain meds but did not attempt to contact me or see me to find out what was going on. The only reason I've kept going back is because I'm having implants done and had to pay for everything--tens of thousands of dollars--up front. But never again. Update: Aspen Dental responded to my review, suggesting that I should contact their Patient Satisfaction Team to discuss my experiences. I contacted their "Patient Satisfaction Team" multiple times (late November/early December) and both times was promised a call back from the Regional Manager -- who never called. Staff at the North Port office also asked for them to call me--which they never did. So I'm not going to call them back again.

First of all that tooth doesn't need a root canal. It's cracked tooth syndrome. So, I got the crown done for $1650. Your office in North Port wanted $4500. So, I will return the partial, which I haven't used since September of last year, once your company refunds the full amount of that partial. Anything other than that, don't bother!

It's very discouraging especially when you pay close to 4,000 dollars in work out of pocket. The book keeper Lori doesn't listen to her boss and does as she pleases. I've sent them close to a dozen people that had full sets along with some having other work done. She messed up and didn't put my relines on my estimate, so the dentist said they had to finish them for free cause of her mess up. Let alone she destroyed my credit cause she didn't submit my work correctly to Delta Dental which is in their network. I'd like to be able to wear my full set I think it's only right! Do the right thing and finish the job that's expected from professionals.
