I initially visited Wellen Family Dental for treatment on a single tooth. That tooth was extracted,…read moreand I was then advised to consider a partial denture. However, I was never provided with any written information explaining what a partial denture is, how it would fit, or the potential risks and side effects. From my very first appointment, I clearly informed the office that I have a severe gag reflex. Despite this, the partial was still recommended without any documentation or discussion of how this condition might impact my ability to tolerate the device. Because I could not proceed with the partial due to my known gag reflex, the doctor then recommended a bridge. Again, I was not provided with any written disclosures outlining risks or possible complications associated with this procedure. During the bridge preparation, my tooth was shaved down excessively, which appears to have irritated the nerve. As a result, I have been experiencing ongoing pain for several months. When I returned to have the procedure completed, I was presented with disclosure forms to sign, after the work had already been started. I was not comfortable signing these documents at that stage. As a result, the dentist refused to complete the treatment. I am now left with an incomplete bridge procedure that is causing me ongoing pain, without resolution or completion of care.

I can't say enough positive things about Wellen Family Dental and Dr. Annie Smith. From start to…read morefinish, my experience was exceptional. I went in for what turned out to be an extremely difficult filling, and Dr. Smith handled it with remarkable patience, professionalism, and genuine care. She took the time to explain what was happening, checked in frequently to make sure I was comfortable, and never rushed the process. Her calm, reassuring approach made a stressful situation far easier than I expected. What truly set this practice apart, though, was the level of attentiveness and service. Dr. Smith and her staff worked hard to get me in quickly, and the team repeatedly checked for earlier appointment availability on my behalf--something you rarely see anymore. That level of follow‑through speaks volumes. The office itself is beautiful, modern, and clearly equipped with the latest technology, which added another layer of confidence to the care I received. It's clear this is a new practice that is doing things the right way--with a strong focus on patient comfort, quality care, and exceptional service. If you're looking for a dentist who is skilled, compassionate, and truly invested in their patients, I highly recommend Dr. Annie Smith and Wellen Family Dental. I'm grateful to have found them and look forward to being a long‑term patient. Please support this outstanding new practice--you'll be in excellent hands.

There is nothing good about this practice, neither the work done or their predatory billing…read morepractices. I had major work done with veneers and crowns. The veneer in my front tooth is moving and not straight anymore after only one year. Bernitt must have put it in wrong. I would have gone back in but I feared they would make it worse. To compound this they overcharged me. my last visit they said I had a credit balance of $418, but months later they started sending me bills for $838 balance due, which were not true, I paid everything plus insurance paid more. I disputed it and analyzed my ledger sending them proof that they actually owed me money. Then their auditor did his own sneaky audit and said now I owe $1,379! It did not include previous credits shown on the ledger they sent me. Nevertheless I offered to settle with them for $300 but never heard back. Now they have sicked a collection agency on me that has been harassing me with phone calls and wanting to charge an additional $345 in fees on top of the $1,379! Bernitt and his crew are criminals acting like the mafia. They are not honest or trustworthy and do not live up to their promises or agreements and the $12,000 work I received is subpar at best. Do not under any circumstances use them or trust them for your dental work. I have heard from 6 others in the community that their billing practice was unfair to them as well.

I wish I could say good things about this business. Well, I can say that the reception staff are…read morewarm and friendly. All while being required to ask patients for money they don't owe (due to poor record-keeping), apologizing for scheduling errors, and trying to placate patients who have been waiting for an hour or more to be seen. The practice in North Port is owned by Dr. Dixon, who also owns multiple Aspen practices in the area. He's incompetent as an administrator and shows a complete lack of concern for his patients. Twice now I've had dental procedures/surgeries and had to wait a long time to be seen get in, despite having had nothing to eat or drink for over 8 hours. The first time I waited over 2 hours; the second time was about 45 minutes. The dentists never checked in with me afterwards to see how I was doing. After running into some very painful problems after the first surgery, Dr. Dixon was out of town and I finally got an appointment with another Aspen dentist in a different office. He took a quick look, told me there wasn't any infection, but didn't do anything to find out what was causing the pain. A week later bone shards started poking out of the incision--clearly the cause of my pain. I know bone shards can occur after oral surgery, but these were not tiny and I had 7 ones work their way out. This is medical incompetence--that's too many shards, evident by the fact that no one even thought of that being the cause of my pain. After my second surgery I received no aftercare instructions, and when I called several days later due to extreme pain and swelling the dentist called in a script for more pain meds but did not attempt to contact me or see me to find out what was going on. The only reason I've kept going back is because I'm having implants done and had to pay for everything--tens of thousands of dollars--up front. But never again. Update: Aspen Dental responded to my review, suggesting that I should contact their Patient Satisfaction Team to discuss my experiences. I contacted their "Patient Satisfaction Team" multiple times (late November/early December) and both times was promised a call back from the Regional Manager -- who never called. Staff at the North Port office also asked for them to call me--which they never did. So I'm not going to call them back again.

Please, do not get your dental work done here! Am I open to discussing what happened? I've tried that twice and got no satisfaction. I want the refund of over $1300 for my lower partial. I will not be calling the North Port office ever again! At this point you need to look at my records, find my phone number and call me. BTW, your company's price for a crown is WAY out of line. First of all that tooth doesn't need a root canal. It's cracked tooth syndrome. So, I got the crown done for $1650. Your office in North Port wanted $4500. So, I will return the partial, which I haven't used since September of last year, once your company refunds the full amount of that partial. Anything other than that, don't bother!
