We saw a lot of local expats in the morning we came. The egg sandwich was great but the real star was the Mi Monsieur Sandwich! Very tasty and big! The Almond Joy energy ball was worth a taste. Didn't taste a lot like the candy bar but I liked it, especially with the chocolate chips! The interior is kinda small but There's plenty of seating outside of you can stand the heat and humidity. A good place to stop by in the morning, though may be difficult to find parking directly in front as it's in the middle of the town of Rincón. There is a large parking lot a couple of blocks away.

With all these reviews, we'd been meaning to come here for some time, but note the odd hours and…read moretry to come around mid-day. There's free wifi and it seems rather American than Puerto Rican in that it looks like a coffee shop or smoothie place in New York's LES. This place is a little hipster, take that how you will. And there's odd, but cute artwork on the walls. I had the Purple Dang with acai, strawberry, banana, and apple juice. Sure it was pricey at $4-5 per smoothie, but it was delicious, and there is surprisingly a dearth in smoothie places around Rincon. It's also a rather sizable cup -- probably a little less than a Starbucks Grande. I'd probably come back.

I suppose it is a sign of how far the world has come that even in Rincon, Puerto Rico--a town that…read moreis hardly on the cutting edge--there is a nice coffee shop serving strong coffee, espresso drinks, and a number of good-looking smoothies, with free wi-fi, computer terminals, etc. They're only open until 3 (and closed Tuesdays), and the bagel with cream cheese we got for breakfast will not make a New-Yorker homesick, but the coffee was strong, the atmosphere and attitude were just right. After my first visit, I spent 24 hours craving a "Nutty Dang"-- one of their specialty smoothies made with chocolate, peanut butter, and bananas, and I had to go back. That smoothie was enough to make this place merit five stars rather than four. I'm told that you can also get them to add a shot of espresso to your smoothie-- that will have to be next. The bottom line: If you're in Rincon, and you drink coffee or smoothies, you should come here.

The açaí bowls are huge, big enough to share between two moderately hungry adults. Caffellatte is a relatively new coffee and dessert stop on highway 129 between Aricebo and Lares…read more We discovered it after a recent visit to Lares when looking for a rehydration stop while heading north. The space is nicely done with a coffee bar and about a dozen small tables. Large windows on the west side allow plenty of sunlight into the cafe, while an interior window on the east wall allows a view down into the attached coffee packaging plant. The coffee itself is very good (but that should go without question, given that Caffelatte sits in the mountains of northwestern Puerto Rico where the residents grow, harvest, prepare, live, and breathe award-winning coffee). The desserts and bakery treats also are exceptional. I tried the cheesecake, while my companion has tostadas with ajo (garlic) and both really hit the spot. We saw at least one person working on a laptop in the cafe, confirming it also is a great setting to get some work done. Next time you find yourself on PR highway 129, make sure to check out Caffellatte.

From there we got two of their desayuno platters, priced at $14 each on the menu. $14 for three eggs, some potato's, bread, and sliced sandwich ham seems a bit steep to me when you think about how much the plate costs to prepare. I was asked if I wanted veggies in my eggs, and fruit/Nutella on my French toast. It was good, but it would have been nice to know before the check came that it was an additional cost for the upgrades. Do I recommend this place...sure, but it wouldn't be my first choice.
