I recently tried Soldier Fit Columbia, and while the workout itself was great, challenging, high-energy, and definitely effective, I had a strange experience at check-in. I came in wearing a matching workout set, which is pretty normal for me, and was told I had to leave or cover up because they don't allow workout sets in support of body-positivity guidelines. I was honestly confused and caught off guard. Thankfully, I had a jacket with me, but it still felt like an odd rule. I get that every gym has its own policies, and I respect that, but this one felt a bit unusual. Once I got past that, the actual workout and trainers were solid, and I left feeling accomplished. Just a heads-up to anyone planning to go and check the dress code beforehand. Overall, a good workout, just a weird start. read more

I've been coming here since about July, and overall it's a great supportive community. For me it's hard to motivate myself to work out on my own, so the group fitness has been a great push for me. It can be a bit pricey, but it's worth it if you go on a regular basis. There's also plenty of class options that you can attend as well read more

Can't believe the Yelp reviews are so low! I have been an active member here for over 4 years, and this place is my home away from home! Soldierfit kickstarted my fitness journey 4 years ago and has helped me every step of the way, even through quarantine with online classes. Since reopening they still offer a ton of online and socially distant classes (in person). The facility is clean and the staff is amazing! They will support and motivate you. And the members are all ages and abilities. Everyone is at a different place in their fitness journey and that is okay. We all encourage each other! read more

Business as usual......I won't be renewing my membership! It expires in two months...and I have already begun to Re-activate my LIfetime Fitness Membership. Damn near $90 a month to do what you could ultimately do at home...or at your local gym for half the price. Soldier Fit uses groupon to pull you in (good marketing) and then it's sale sale sale...you pay $90 for Boat Camp Classes and access to the "free weights area". Come to find out many don't pay that much...I just got jerked...oh well. Overall the concept of High Intensity Training is Great! But at times you feel like it's just a form of employment for most of the training staff. The class structure lacks substance...the free weight area is very small and at times you feel like your the only one that actually paid for this shit lol....people barely workout here. And no offense but most of the people that join this place or moms and dads looking to try something new. (Myself included) But I would not recommend it for anyone looking to take their body to the next level. You will be in good shape and will probably lose a great deal of weight if you eat right but "muscles" with this program alone is not going to happen. Oh, to make matters worse is that they require you to wear a UNIFORM!!!! once you buy a membership!!!! I thought it was a joke at first but Every Boot Camp Class your required to wear the SAME DAMN TShirt they give you when you sign up. So High Schoolish....this notion of "we as a team shit" seems as fake as ever as most of the people in the classes don't even talk to each other LMAO!! So if I wanna go to class everyday...I gotta wash my shirt everyday which can become a chore. Smh..it's a turnoff. Maybe it's just me. The MMA/Judo classes is probably the only great thing I like about the soldier fit concept. I would recommend signing up for that as your best possible option. Overall, Soldier Fit is a business...and one that is trying to grow. They prey on the unexperienced...it's a really good concept but lacks depth. Overall not worth the money. I actually decided to write this after I called two times to speak with a manager about canceling my membership and never got s call back. Oh well hope this helps read more

When you walk in the first time you feel very welcome! But don't let that fool you. As soon as they get you in service goes down to zero! These people are there to make you pay and pay more. All they want is your money and they don't care about you. All they try to do is telling you that you're in horrible shape and you need "personal training" and extras so up u gotta pay more. Good bootcamp classes if you don't puke!!! Another problem is the schedule , is not that good and you can't attend much. Not worth it. You better off doing p90X that's what I've been doing for years. Trying to cancel with them? They make you go trough HELL! Been 2 months taking doctor note and anything they needed and still not canceling my membership. Just an update! Is May.15.15 and I'm still getting harassed by this company and seems like they're upset about the review!!!! I say go fix your service and don't blame others. Pathetic. read more

First of all, the workouts are definitely workouts. They work , as long as you give it your all. Great alternative to the gym. Has an amazing staff that was always supportive and made sure that you pushed yourself as far as you could go without pushing you too far. This place is amazing, look no further just sign up already! !!!! The staff here in columbia are so welcoming. It feels good to walk in and hear them call you by your name. Everyone here is trying to achieve the same goal. Sign up to be a "Troop" today! read more

Soldierfit - Gyms Near Me - Columbia, Maryland

**ALERT** This place is ALL about the money. I've been dealing with SoldierFit for the past 2 months, trying to get my money back. I only attended 1 class but I was charged for 2 months. The SoldierFit representative was extremely pushy for me sign up but failed to mention the 12-month contract. The part of the contract where that is mentioned was filled out without my presence or knowledge. I initially planned to attend classes for 2-3 months and I made that known to the sales representative and he still failed to mention the 12 month contract. The devil is in the details so it is very import to be aware of everything before signing up. read more

Friendly Staff, meh gym. The hours are pretty bad and they won't always show up on time. On 3 separate Sundays I waited outside until ~15 minutes after gym opening for someone to open the door or just left and went home. One of the frequent members outside the door said that was standard fair on the weekends. Finally if you don't get your cancellation in at least a month and 5 days before you need it cancelled they will just charge you for an extra month anyway. Just another gym, nothing special but bad hours and a low selection of gym equipment. read more

Soldierfit is a great, welcoming place to get an awesome workout in a supportive environment! The bootcamp workouts are tough and high intensity, but the instructors are super helpful in walking beginners through exercises. The yoga classes are amazing for active recovery and flexibility training - I highly recommend attending Claire's classes. read more

Business aspect: I went in for a trial class last week and informed them that I have a groupon to use. They told me to go ahead and try out the class first and they will talk to me after my trial class. Afterwards, I was given a thirty minute tour of the facility and a offer to trade in my groupon in order to take advantage of a lower enrollment fee from $199 to $49 and $49 monthly fee. However, I told the recruitment manager that I will think about it and check back with her another day. I went back today hoping to activate my Groupon and was told by her that since I already took the trial class then I could not use my groupon since it was not my first visit. Therefore, they WILL NOT allow me to use my groupon although I mentioned my groupon prior to my visit and because I didn't sign up for the services on the spot, they denied my groupon use. Sara, the recruiting and retention manager, has a very upbeat personality and seems genuinely nice. BTW, she is one hell of a talker. Honestly, if she would've honored my groupon and allowed me to workout there for one month then I might've signed up for 12 months even if it meant that I had to pay the extra in enrollment fee. But not so they just lost a customer. Advice to management: Give people what they paid and in return you shall receive what you seek for. Workout aspect: Its a really great workout and their trainers seem pretty nice and attentive provided that its a smaller class. Heart Rate skyrocketed during the one hour there but I will be seeking a different workout camp. read more

Finally found a gym that I never want to leave, the people are amazing and everyone is like family. Never in my life have I been so dedicated to working out and so eager to go to the gym. If you're looking for a lifestyle change and new friends this is the place to be. It has become my second home. By far the best gym ever! ! read more

Apparently you can be a member of Soldierfit and they are very welcoming, but when it comes time to cancel they don't respond. I tried to contact them to cancel my membership and crickets. After two ignored emails, I had to contact the corporate level to find out how to cancel. When i canceled i asked to have it back dated to when i first contacted them and then i was outsourced to another company. BAD BUSINESS for Soldierfit and i would not recommend to anyone. read more

If you like something different from your typical gym, this is the place to be. Compared to CrossFit and other boot camps, this is actually cheaper. Yes, you can do the workouts at home. You can do any workout at home but I enjoy camaraderie with the other people. If you stick with it you'll see results. read more

The environment is fun and something different. They have a little bit of everything for everyone. It's a you get out of it, what you put into it. Style of place. The military theme is a solid twist. For those vets out their, the HOOOAAAHs and repetition cadence make you feel like it 0600 again. Jason, Sean, and Amber are awesome and there to help you reach that next level. read more

This place is awful. This not the best gym ever. This is the WORST gym by far. The management is terrible. Diane was one of the managers who had and probably still has no idea how to manage costumers. Sarah was not helpful either. Some management classes would be helpful. read more

*This review is about the customer service when it comes to cancelling your membership*. If you don't see yourself going everyday and staying for a year, DO NOT JOIN. I moved away from the location closest to my home and it was over the amount of miles (15 mi) they need to classify a termination of contract. Funny part is that the sales rep failed to mention that you have to be 15 mi. away from any location. Even so, a location that is around 15 miles away, in a city, is extremely ridiculous. For perspective, 10 miles can be around 30 min driving time and public transportation travel time is worse. I have regretted my decision to use soldierfit not because of there services (which are very good!) but because of their cancellation policies and customer service. Overall, I don't think its worth it unless you're going to stay put and use the membership routinely. read more

All fitness levels are welcome. You do not need to be in shape before coming to Soldierfit. The staff is amazing and very encouraging - they are knowledgable and are truly interested in you. The atmosphere is unlike any gym I have been to previously. Come in for a tour and a free class and see for yourself. Learn about the different programs to see what is the best fit for you. read more

Best workout Ive had in a long time!!! I got so bored with my gym that I had started going only once a week. That did not work for me because I need to burn off some stress. I joined when they had a $19 enrollment fee and no 12-month commitment. I don't know what my life will look like one year from now so...that certainly does not work. The workouts are intense and is all I need to feel stronger, more fit, and mentally balanced. The Columbia location has showers so I am able to go in the morning before work. The ONLY downside is that I wish there were more classes offered in the morning. A 5:30am workout is killer when you don't have to be at work until 9am. The instructors are professional and knowledgeable. They push you while also not shaming you for going at your own pace. I saw an instructor make A LOT of modifications for a member with a lot of injuries. As someone who is injury-prone, this gives me confidence. Lastly, and probably only important to me, is that the temperature is PERFECT! I hate going into a workout facility that smells and feels like hot sweat. Not the case here. read more

I love this gym! The most beautiful facility, amazing trainers & the nicest staff. Make sure you're ready to workout. They help people at all levels of fitness. Feels like family here :) read more

I'm getting extremely angry at cancelling my membership after hitting the one year mark. They told me a month ago that the remainder of my balance will be $89.99 and that's all I would owe and I would need to cancel on feb 15th (Saturday right???) so on the 14th I submitted my cancelation form and Tuesday (4 days later) they email me telling me I need to "become current" and by that they mean pay $179.99 (obviously trying to get another month out of me) A month ago they said it's best to wait until 2/15 bc that is when my membership terms are over and I won't be hit with a 2 month penalty (fine I get that) BUT DONT TRY TO ROB ME FOR AN EXTRA MONTH!! I have referred and brought so many people to try and become a member to Soldierfit only to PLAY THESE GAMES with customer service. I don't like games, I wanted a cut and dry amount of what I am to pay, when it's due and be done. DO NOT STRING ME ALONG. I have a lot of clout in my area and I am not afraid to share my thoughts locally! I am NOT happy. Once your company makes things right I will remove my post. Until then, this is the truth and this is how I feel. read more

I've been going this gym for over a year now, and have loved it up until now. The new trainers that are being brought in from other locations are inexperienced, impersonable, rude, and inconsiderate of personal space. The new "top hat" and her associate lead boot-camp classes that would be more suitable for an elementary school gym class; not very well organized or thought out. The "top hat" led a class and conducted a strange rendition of duck-duck-goose, and has also made a snotty comment to one of the members to the effect of "that's why I'm the instructor and you're not." I've heard several complaints from a handful of other members who are purposely avoiding her classes. The new "black hat," Sean, has absolutely no spacial awareness and purposely invades space already being used by other people. He interrupts workouts because he decides to have his PT sessions directly next to where people are working out, or he works out directly in the middle of the gym floor. The new "top hat" has the same habits of taking over the gym side. Other trainers are respectful, and don't act like they're entitled to use the entire gym all at once, but the new trainers seem to have no concept of personal space. I love this gym, but I'm extremely disappointed with the new employees and the people who decided to hire them. This gym is supposed to be about welcoming and accepting everyone, we're "more than a workout." With that said, it's a terrible idea to bring in employees who treat members like a key-card swipe and a paycheck. These trainers have come into this gym with dominating, arrogant attitudes, which should not be welcomed into this environment. It's supposed to be "pride before ego", but that's not the case with these two trainers. read more

I really enjoyed soldierfit. It was a whole different experience of working out because it's more of a group thing than individual and you have other people motivating you. Also meeting new people. BUT if it wasn't for the price and the class hours I would have renewed my contract with them. The price you pay just for classes is not really worth it if you go 3 or 4 times a week. For how much I was paying I could have signed up at lifetime fitness and get classes plus workout equipment for a better price. If they also had later hours it could have worked out for me. Unfortunately the last class is at 730-830. read more

I bought a Groupon and decided to try this place out. It really was a waste of money. When I first entered the gym they didn't take my Groupon and told me to sign in and they would talk to me after. Everyone that I saw had the same t-shirt. It felt like a cult and was definitely wierd. I just wanted to work out. The actual work out was ok. I wouldn't consider it a boot camp like I'm used to but I gave it a chance. After the work out I was given a tour as if I was in a museum. I really just wanted to work out. It was indeed necessary to learn about our fallen heros and the origins of Soldierfit but it really did seem like a marketing ploy and forceful. After the tour I was told that they would go over the membership with me because the membership deal is better then the Groupon. The whole point of a Groupon is to see if you like the place within the time of the Groupon. I decided to give it a second try and was told the same thing. I'm definitely not coming back. This place gets 2 stars because the people are friendly at least. read more
