In town for a funeral. Chipped my manicure and needed a fix. Someone suggested Solar. They got me in. The place is filthy. Junk everywhere. The manicurist who did my nails talked me in to powder gel. Hate how it looks. He also bad mouthed his former employer. Very unprofessional. I picked a color, then he brought over a color I would never pick. He argued with me and got a different one. Still not something I would pick. I didn't feel like arguing. I just wanted to get done. I won't go back and would not recommend this salon to anyone. read more

I was planning to get super cute nails before rushing at the University of Arkansas next week, but instead got these. The employees are super nice, but don't provide high quality manicures. I was super disappointed and will now need to get them redone at a different location before next week. However, I will say they're pedicures are much more attractive than their manicures. read more

I paid for a $60 pedi that was to include a hot rock foot massage. I had gel polish on my toes that needed removed. My toenails were not cut, I didn't get the hot rock massage and the polish looks like it was applied by a child. Then when I went to pay I was charged $77. I questioned the amount and was told that it was tax. Really, $17 for tax? Then she said well it was $5 for gel removal and $3 for using my debit card. That left me still paying $9 for tax which isn't possible. The place is a rip off. Never going back. read more

I got a traditional pedi with the gel polish. $61.00. That is crazy!!!! One toe the polish looks lighter than the other. looks like one foot got 1 coat of polish and the other got 2 coats. I tried to keep an eye on things but every time she put the light on my toes she hit the polish. I could handle the price cause I was able to get in right away. But it wasn't relaxing and explains why I was able to get in right away......I leave for vacation Saturday so if I have any problems before then I will go back and they will fix it. read more

Always pretty consistent good service. Love the pedicures here and their massage chairs. I've always either made an appointment or arrived close to opening if on a Saturday because it can get busy here. There was not a large or diverse selection of polish colors, but if you find one you like just ask and they will sell you an unopened bottle if they have extras. Ask for Hannah she is wonderful and one of the owners. read more

So I called to make an appointment, they got me in the next day. I asked for a dip powder full set and a regular pedicure. I got my pedi done first. Then I went to a different person for my mani & I don't recall the woman's name, but apparently she's been doing nails for 17 years.. I think she needs to go back to school so she can retrain because... this is horrible. So horrible, my boyfriend LAUGHED when he picked me up. First of all - she asked why my nails are so short. I replied with "I have small nail beds" , she then reiterated the question while adding the assumption that I bite them.. then she turned to her coworker & started talking shit (because she was no longer speaking English). This woman brought out ACRYLIC (not what I asked for), but I refrained from saying anything because i thought it'd be less expensive ***WRONG*** She did all the prep before polish & I was nauseated with pain. This girl managed to butcher ALL 10 cuticles. Did not even out the acrylic that was applied (as shown in photos), the overall process was very rushed. Not to mention, she was watching videos on her phone while painting my nails. When it was time to pay, I was flabbergasted. I was charged for the most expensive acrylic full set. My total was $112.... I have never in my life paid over $90 for a mani & pedi. I'm so disappointed, I haven't had my nails done in almost 2 years. This experience was a total let down and I will not be returning. I don't do reviews but if this can save some one from feeling the same way I've felt, then I suppose me taking time out to write this is worth it. read more

Visited on a Friday afternoon. Called beforehand to try and make an appointment given that there were four of us coming and was told that they only take appointments Monday-Wednesday. Quite a few people (what seemed like regulars) came in after we had signed in. Was bullied by the person checking customers in to get something that I did not want. Got a gel manicure that was rushed, and came out with my fingers being completely dry and my cuticles cut down so far that they were bleeding. Overall the experience was very rushed and unprofessional. Would NOT return. Also only prefers cash but no mention of this anywhere other than in the store. read more

If I could give them a zero I would but it won't allow me to. They heavily overcharge and add to the price after they give you one price. They add on extra taxes and charge for every piece of sanitary equipment they use. They didn't do my nails the way I asked them to and they came out horribly. They had a bad attitude and were rushed to get us out. This is the worst experience I've ever had and I've been getting my nails done for a very long time. read more

Wish I could give a zero. Terrible, terrible service! Walked in to get a French powder manicure/ regular pedicure. Woman didn't understand what I wanted (huge language barrier) and basically caused a huge scene in front of the entire establishment. Yelling that shellac 'is zero drying time, you don't want to sit for long time, you get shellac' when I refused and wanted a simple pedicure. I have gotten mani/ pedi for years and have never had such horrific service. Not to mention she tried to move my very expensive bag to the floor and when I asked her to please not touch my bag- she flipped out and started yelling in her language. I was actually soaking my feet getting ready to get my pedicure once I thought I reached an agreement. TERRIBLE service- a shame because they would of had a long time customer with me relocating to the area. read more

When i called Solar spa and nails no one answered with a common greeting. She literally didn't say anything and I was like hello hello ?? And she was like what u want and I was like when do you have room for two ppl and she was like two people I would have to get back to you on that and hung up on me. By her hanging up on me I will not be going there she did not have common courtesy and that was very rude how is she going to greet customers on the phone let alone face to face. i don't know she'll even get customers if she's just gonna hang up on people and not even answer the phone correctly. What's the point of making an appointment and then waiting for over 20 minutes to be seen. This place is so over rated. Way to expensive, horrible experience and they did an awe foe job. I have cuts all over my cuticles, bumps on the polish and my nails are so sore. I will never be back. read more

I am always greeted by name, have been since the second or third time I came here, which was years ago. They are busy often, so I would expect to wait during busy times like Saturday or Friday afternoon. Today was my first time to Solar Nails and was recommended to go there by my family and friends. So my expectations were quite high. Instead of being impressed I was slightly disgusted and extremely disappointed. My mani/pedi tech was uninterested, halfhazardly doing the job, and very dry in interacting. Since I hadn't been there I looked at the menu which was fairly listed, however, I was contemplating a combo service so I asked the tech (she did not give her name) how much was a mani/pedi combo versus just the pedi which was my reason for coming as well as treating my cousin to one as well,and she stated the pedicure was $30 and the manicure was $15. So, again I asked is there a combo special as in most shops there may be a few dollar discount on combos, she said what kind of pedicure do you want. I said what all kind do you have? She handed me a sheet with 2 options: Spa Pedicure $30 and Royal Spa Pedicure. After looking at the differences I chose the Spa Pedicure for $30. She said get in the water. I asked again well how much is the combo she said $45 so I said ok I'd like both. Now, she then said do I want the same polish for my nails and I replied yes. She then said well that polish won't last, so I asked what others do you have and she said this will chip and I couldn't come back saying I wanted a redo when it did....I am very aware of nail polishes and the way they last or not. I thought she was going to suggest something different, but when she did not I asked what other kind do they have; She said gel polish, I said no thanks. Then she just sat down and started my pedicure. I knew exactly what I wanted as I'm traveling thru Lima on my way to the East coast so I may have wanted a color change throughout my visit. They reason I decided to go with a manicure as well was bc I wanted a full pamper session. I was in for further disappointment because that never happened. As I stated before the tech did a poor job in performing the pedicure and the manicure which she rushed through both with very little attention to detail, the massage lacked any massage more of a quick rub, no oil or moisturizer used after the final wash so my hands and feet were both dry. I had to pull out my own hand lotion. Finally as she asked for payment I used a credit card which she looked at almost as if they did not take them. Then, I said I was also paying for my cousins for her birthday and so I paid hers with cash. I'm usually a tipper, but due to poor quality of service I received I did not tip my tech. I watched my cousins pedicure and her tech took time and engaged with her so I tipped her only. Moral of the story....I had a choice of salons to go to but I relied upon the word of my satisfied peers for direction. I will not return to Solar. I expect at least basic service in any business providing services. I saw others working diligently so I know the potential is there, I just did not get it. Again, I went with great expectation which was deflated thru each passing minute of abysmal service. I hope this doesn't happen to anyone else. read more

Very rude! This business closes at 7, I work a lot and have very little time during business hours to spend on myself. That said, I called ahead around 6 and asked could they still get me in. The woman who answered the phone told me to be there by 630 I was there at 620. A different employee took me back around 640 and asked me what I would like done. When I got around to the design I would like he started making off hand comments about how he didn't understand why people wait until the last minutes if they know somewhere closes at 7. Needless to say this made me VERY uncomfortable and the awkward interaction continued to escalate until he passed me off on someone else to finish filing. While I understand last minute customers are perceived as inconsiderate and annoying, there was nothing saying he HAD to serve me and they could've easily told me it was too late when I called or even walked in. I would've much preferred being turned away I can't speak too on the work, it was decent. I can't say much more than that since I settled for something basic to minimize the time I was there. I had been going to this place religiously every two weeks and just dealt with it for a long time. Their work is good, I'll give them that; I always went to Kevin. The last time I went I had an appointment with him and Helen called me back to sit in her chair. I told her I made an appointment with Kevin and she YELLED at me! Other than that, their prices are insane. They charge $35 for JUST gel polish on your natural nails and told me that doesn't include the shaping, filing, etc. But it's $42 if you get get polish with acrylic. $10 on top of what you pay to take off whatever you have but they yell at you if you buy a $2 bottle of acetone and take it off yourself at home. $7 additional charge for using one different color on a different nail. $20 extra for ombré. I started getting the gel powder (no acrylic) and paid between $50 and $60, each time a different amount even though I'd get the same thing. A good friend of mine told me I was wasting time and money there, and recommended NY Nails. $22 for gel polish. I won't go back to solar. read more
