I have not tried the restaurant yet but the bar on the floor above the restaurant is pretty nice. Come just before the sunset and you'll have a perfect 360 degrees view over Berlin. That's what makes it 4 stars. Drinks are solid, audience is ok, music is boring prices are rather high.

    The view from our table.

A hidden gem in Berlin. With an amazing skyline view and a wonderful atmosphere. The food was new to me, but I couldn't have been happier. It was absolutely delicious. The staff was very nice and even spoke a lot of English.

    Berlin City at night.

I got to know this place a while ago from a friend. we came as group, about 7 - 8 people in our group, what we didn't know at that time is that this place has a dress code or rather to say a standard. Our style were too "casual" for the bar, so they didn't let us in. Quite a bummer. So this time when my friend invited my partner and I to this place for birthday again. I did dressed up for it. Everything works smoothly, it didn't take long to get to the top. And the reception are much nicer than like the first time. I found the situation quite funny in the way. So when we got out of the lift, the first thing we saw was the restaurant. By the way, the lift got a great view of Berlin. Doesn't matter day or night. the restaurant looked nice. Not so big, but great atmosphere and of course, amazing view. We didn't really come here for dinner, so got no idea how much a meal cost. It did look fancy through. We walked upstairs, I was amazed by the view at once. It even looked much better up here. in my hometown, standing at the 17th floor was like nothing, it was just a city jungle, lots of tall buildings around, barely could see the city. But here was like on the top of everything. I could see the whole city and what's going down there. The design of the bar was quite nice as well, it offered different kind of seats, for group of friends, lovers or buddy to hangout with. There even got an area for smoking. So no one needs to suffered. We didn't got the nice seats which were facing the window at the beginning. It took awhile. But eventually we did. It was pretty amazing. (Probably not for the people who afraid of high.) Speak about the drinks. For me, I think it was ok. Not bad, but quite expensive. For the same price, I do know some places where are really good. So the night keep going, more and more people came to the bar. The bar itself wasn't really big. It started to become crowded. Plus the DJ area was in the middle of bar. It made the bar quite hard to get around at the time. the music was ok for me, I do think if it was going for the theme "Party all night", that was too slow and lack of excitement. If it was going for "elegant night club social networking", the music was too loud. My friends and I needed to shout at each other to able to understand what we were talking about. Even at the restaurant could heard that. (I noticed that when we were leaving the bar). That was just my opinion, the music was not my thing, but probably other people love it. At the end, I'm glad that I finally paid a visit to this place, after heard so many thing about it. There are some parts I like, also some I don't. But we did have a good time there. If you just want to have some drinks or a nice dinner with someone important in a great location, this could be it. But if you are searching for a great bar for the weekend. I guess better look for a bigger dance floor.

The true definition of a Michelin 3 star is someplace worthy of a detour. While it wasn't quite a…read moredetour, we did pick Berlin over another destination given the opportunity to try RUTZ. Where to start??? 1. Timing - stars aside, the restaurant serves a 12 course menu, at 15 each, that's 3+ hours... comments not withstanding about length, it is to be an evening event. Not meant to be consumed while watch timing, meant to be enjoyed at its fullest.... It is a process but well worth the time investment 2. Flavor profile - every course delicate yet balanced. Never too heavy, just walking the balance of the ingredients 3. Ingredients- in the heart of winter, they manage to maintain a variety of foraged vegetables 4. Cooking style - creative yet respectful to traditional cooking methods, you will see some unexpected treatment (puréed sauerkraut and fried into chips???) but not "magic" 5. Philosophy- a humbled and relaxed approach, nothing stuffy about the place, for a guy who has every bragging rights, Chef Marco is down to earth, friendly and humbly devoted to his craft. Last but not least, what's a meal like this without the perfect wine pairing.... The som did a wonderful job. Each dish paired beautifully with the right kind of wine and the correct profile. All in all, very much deserving of their 3 star. I would come back to Berlin just to come here again. 5.

HOW DOES RUTZ HAVE ONLY 4 STARS ON YELP???…read more As a Yelp Elite, I am telling you to discount those sour-grapes reviews below (for example, someone cancelled their reservation and blamed the restaurant for that). Rutz has great food and great service served by professional staff who clearly (a) know what they are doing and (b) care about making sure that every diner has an unforgettable experience! Having earned 3 Michelin Stars, one must EXPECT Rutz to be a sensational restaurant! And it certainly is that! While that is not always the case, with Rutz, they somehow far exceeded expectations! If I could vote to give them a fourth Michelin Star I would do so in a heartbeat! They clearly deserve a Fifth Yelp Star! We had some dietary restrictions and they were met cheerfully and complied with strictly, without so much as a look askance. I am extremely knowledgeable about wines generally, and specifically about German wines. I almost never order the wine pairing because it almost always disappoints me (too young, lacking in complexity, lacking in quality, or all 3!), Rutz is the rare exception! Their wine pairing was mostly delicious and brilliantly selected to enhance the food courses with which the wines were paired! Chardonnay with Caviar? From now on, YES! There were some intriguing pairings that were off-the-chart perfect. In that the wine enhanced the food and the food enhanced the wine and both were elevated by their marriage that was either made in heaven, or, possibly, in the mind of the Head Sommelier who clearly knows what he is doing and, even more importantly, was able to explain, guide, and educate, all at the appropriate level(s) for the various audience(s). The best part of all was that he came and poured us each a taste of wine so we could decide whether to accept (and pay for!) a glass or wait until the next course. I have never seen that before and every Michelin Star Sommelier should adopt the generous practice! If your travels bring you to Berlin, you simply MUST dine at Rutz!

On my recent trip to Germany, Hugos in Berlin was highly recommended to me by a close friend. My experience was phenomenal, from the service and expertise on the food and wine pairings to the views of the city. The restaurant is located at the top of the InterContinental Berlin hotel, serving French and Mediterranean fare in a coursed style experience. You can opt for 4, 6 or 8 courses, and add wine pairings to each of the courses. If you'd prefer, they can prepare a larger portion of some of the courses for just one main entree. We opted for the 8 course with wine pairing. The whole experience took around 3 hours, but we were certainly taking our time and enjoying every bite! With 8 courses I was definitely full, but keep in mind this is much more about art and flavor profiles than it is large portions. If you have any questions they are more than happy to help answer them, and the sommelier explains the wine pairings in as much detail as you prefer. As you can imagine, the menu changes frequently, but I will share what I had in June of 2019. I'd HIGHLY recommend Hugo's for a unique experience you won't forget!

How ingredients like parsnip, peas, pickled gherkin and horseradish, though familiar, transformed the dishes in unexpected ways. While components as rapeseed oil, linseed and buckhorn, though less familiar, infused the mains in interesting yet recognizable flavors. One dish, for me, that perfectly highlighted the familiar with the delightfully unfamiliar was the mieral pigeon. So beautifully done.
