I originally had a positive experience with my therapist at Solace Counseling Services, but my overall experience with the practice became extremely disappointing.
During a serious mental health crisis, after an inpatient stay and partial hospitalization, clinicians helped schedule a follow-up appointment for me with Solace. That appointment was canceled with only a patient portal email notification and no phone call from the office. I had to call myself to find out what happened.
When I called, I spoke with Gina, the owner. She told me she had double-booked my therapist, which is why my appointment was canceled. She then said they did not know when my therapist would have availability again and told me I should find somewhere else to go so there would not be a "gap in care." In reality, canceling my appointment, refusing to schedule another one, and telling me to find a new provider immediately after higher-level mental health treatment is exactly what created a gap in care.
I also had a previous issue where Solace would not run my Medicaid because it was listed under my maiden name, even though other medical offices were able to process it, without issue. As a result, I went without care for over a month during an already difficult time.
Mental health care requires communication, reliability, and continuity of care. That was not my experience with this practice, and I would not recommend them to anyone needing consistent support. read more
