We spent significant resources interviewing therapists to find a perfect fit for her. We thought we had when we narrowed down to her provider with Great Lakes. Despite miscommunications, overcharges, and conflicts in her personal life - we were flexible and understanding. We understand that everyone has their own issues and try to be as empathetic as we can be. I get that everyone starts out immature and needs room to grow. I certainly did when I began my career. A line was crossed when we were charged for missing two appointments that she chose to cancel. She cited reasons like finding out bad news in her personal life to justify wanting mandate in-person visits last minute instead of televisits, deeming it a "missed" appointment when we wouldn't comply. When I confronted the issue, more excuses were made. She then decided she would fix the issue, but she will be closing my daughter's file. Between all of that and recommending I take her to the emergency room but refusing to provide the psychiatrist any notes because of "company policy," it's probably for the best. Unfortunately, that will not prevent my kid from feeling abandoned and devastated. She was treated like just another paycheck by that therapist. The joke is on her though. She's an intelligent, vibrant, creative, AMAZING little girl. Anyone who has the honor of being part of her life should count themselves lucky.

MAT has proved to be safe and effective in helping adults work toward recovery from an addiction to heroin, prescription painkillers, or other opioids. Those who take part in MAT at Western Michigan CTC receive a customized care plan that includes a prescription for methadone, Suboxone, buprenorphine, or naltrexone. The therapeutic component of MAT consists of individual and group counseling sessions that focus on helping adults improve their coping skills and prevent relapse.

While I am sure their intentions are good, their approach was very damaging to an already strained relationship, and we personally feel that they did not use a true biblical approach which was disappointing. In the conversation one party had to sit silently and accept the accusations from the other party, causing extremely pain and hurt, this party was not allowed to provide any context. In Gensis 3, when God confronted Adam and Eve, he already knew the sin BUT he still asked Where are you and Who told you that you were naked, and he asked if they ate of the tree. He did not come straight out and accuse; he gave them an opportunity to state. Sometime an offended person thinks they were wronged, and if you go to straight accusation, it does nothing to heal the relationship, it only divides. We were never allowed to explain our side, and we had to just accept the accusations. The failure to follow Gods example in confrontation caused an already wedged to just be further driven and further divide our family. This was then coupled with a miss communication on a follow up appointment where we should up 20 min late (thinking we were early) and the counselor dismissed the other party and they were gone when we arrived. He showed zero value in trying to understand why we were late, he did not even bother to call to see if we had been in an accident.
