This location is about a block away from Yonge St and St. Clair Ave. The door is accessible and the St. Clair Station is close by. There are parking garages nearby but street parking directly in front of the store is difficult. The store reps were very helpful and greeted me right away. Since all the reps in the front were busy, one rep called someone from the back. She did 2 measurements of my feet than tried different versions of insoles in my size and different shoe sizes to help me make my choice. It was a great experience and I would definitely recommend this location.

They are refusing to exchange her faulty unworn shoes for new ones. She is 67 years old and deserves to be treated like a real customer. I find this offensive and hurtful. She is very upset with this treatment. She doesn't have a receipt but the fact is the shoes are faulty. Companies that want to retain customers should spend more time thinking about them than the bottom line. WIll never go here again and will tell everyone I meet about how my mother was treated by these people. Very disappointed.

I tend to wear Birkenstocks. However, my favourite sandal brand is Naot. The brand hails from Israel. They are equally as comfortable. However, you don't need to break into your sandals like you do with Birkenstocks. The other cool thing about Naot footwear is that they last for years. The quality is superb. It's the main reason why I haven't been back to this store in years. My purchases a few years go keep going and going. I passed by Naot Footwear and was so happy to see it from afar. I own a pair of leather slider sandals. They are comfortable. I wore them whenever I went on cruises and warmer climates (trips to Florida and California come to mind). It feels like eons since I last took a tropical vacation. The downside to this pair of slider sandals is that they don't have a backstrap. I remember walking along Steeles Avenue West near Dufferin Street with a friend. One of my sandals went flying in front of us as we were casually walking about. No one was injured. We laughed hard afterwards, though. This store is known for its seasonal sales. I hope that there's still a basement. You do get rock-bottom sales in the basement. The same friend and I went there years ago. She got six (!) pairs of footwear, including thigh-high boots. Everything was heavily discounted. To this day, she gets compliments whenever she wears them. I have a pair of ankle boots and my sandals. I absolutely love them. The other cool aspect of Naot is sizing. Women's sizes range from sizes 4 (European 35) to 11 (European 42). I am a size 11 and was in heaven seeing so many styles. I do need to drop by and check the store out the next time I'm in the neighbourhood. I would like to get a new pair of sandals with a backstrap, so I don't do my flying sandal routine again. I used to get the Naot foot cream and it was awesome! We parked in a parking lot when we were last there. Due to the Eglinton Crosstown construction project, this parking lot has disappeared. Who else does that? Dack's never did that let alone remember me as a customer. -- So an update on my boots that I brought six years ago.. The soles have finally worn out and still I wear them. I went back to the store to see if repair was possible since the uppers were still in decent condition given hard, daily wear over the years. Sadly, the Company themselves do not repair the soles given their manufacturing techniques. Okay, fair enough, I thought. They did mention a local cobbler who might be able to bond a replacement lower but it wouldn't be under "warranty" any longer. So I'm tempted to give it a try after I buy a replacement boots first. The store is a small hole-in-the-wall shop dedicated to the sale of either Blundstones boots or, for the lady that doesn't wish a full-on comfy leather boot, Ugs. Both have come into their own as "the hip apparel" for Toronto and this place is dedicated to them. The staff are tremendously helpful for the uninitiated and will take you through all the benefits of the boot; the comfort, the care, the durability, the guarantee. I've had my first pair for years and they still hold up. The latest pair? An Australian tribute to Canada with the word 'Eh?' on the pull-tab. They were a hit in Melbourne.

As for the store layout, it's a narrow store. Kinda small. But they manage to pack in a lot of shoes! The person minding the store was so-so. He let me browse without harassing me. It's a funny business model, since the in-house stuff generally copies the premium-branded stock, and sells for much less. The corollary is that you get what you pay for. In S&M's case, this often seems to mean poor quality, defect-ridden, off-sized slippers or sandals or snowboots. To make things more confusing, they carry limited runs of the expensive stuff, so they rarely have my size. And while they frequently advertise "sales", pricing rarely dips below those of its competitors, including mid-range department stores and specialty brands. Bright, colourful tags notwithstanding, you're just as likely to get those sweet low top cons at little burgundy or journeys for less. Service depends entirely on who's helping you. A trip to purchase, then exchange, then return a pair of ladies' Sorels for a lady who wears Sorels resulted in conflicting information coming from at least three employees, including a manager who got it wrong. The nicest person I dealt with was the person who finally refunded my money--she was also the only one who advised that Sorels come in several different lasts, so I didn't pick the wrong boots so much as I was only shown the wrong collection. Gah! Thankfully, my SO prefers her UGGS from a different store. I spare this location from a 1-2 star rating because it's Friday afternoon, and I did come across some decent customer service (even if it was too little too late to save a purchase) and because if you catch the right person at the right time, you can stack any professional or student discounts you may have on top of the already mediocre pricing. Maybe it's not a lot, but I'll put up with indifferent service and vaguely shady merchandising to save a few bucks. At S&M, "Value" is my safe word.
